Haaland is going to win. Sancho may be the better player but Haaland had the bigger moments and has performed significantly better in the CL.

Don't think Davies comes close to either of these two to be honest.

Then again they've never made the criteras very clear for this award.

Reckon it'll be Sancho, Haaland, Davies, Greenwood. With Greenwood a distant 4th to the main contenders above him.

This list is so bad by the way Mbe Soh is shortlisted but Kouassi isn't, like how seriously? Do these journalists put random names on a list or what?

I think it will go to either Davies or Halland with Sancho rounding out the top three. With that being said, how do they come up with this list? Do they just list names of young players that they've heard of? No idea how someone like Gomes (for example) gets nominated when he has barely played any first team football...

He's an okay prospect, but nothing special so far. Really hard to say at this point and Feyenoord's youth team doesnt play in the 2nd division so he plays no meaningful games outside his few appearances in the first team.

To me he's meh/10 and he mostly proved they should shorten this shortlist.

This award is for the calendar year 2020. Haaland hasn't played lower leagues this year. Not that it matters anyway, last year he almost finished 3rd last year despite playing in a 'lower level league' throughout the year:
I thought that initially but then it's strange that the shortlist determined less than halfway into the year.

He belong to Atlético de Madrid and he was already highly rated in Argentina as a high potential center back. He is fast, aggressive and actually surprisingly good on the ball.
He actually feels more confortable being proactive then reactive, which is a good indicator, but his offball defending needs a bit of improving, mainly from crosses from the his side.

You surely should take into account the quality of the league and the amount of games played. Haaland was in a rubbish league for half a season so should get deducted points. I would say Sancho, Greenwood. Martinelli, Halland

Haaland has done it against PSG
,Napoli and Liverpool in the CL putting up ridiculous numbers.
Saying he should be behind anyone but Sancho on merit is ridiculous

Sancho, Haaland and Davies should be the top 3. I personally think Sancho deserves it and should have won it last year over Felix. Haaland is big news at just the right time though which will probably sway it in his favour.

So Pogba has a blinder for the next 10 games and gets to win the player of the year even though he missed most of it? Dont agree. Haaland has been friggin awesome. Unbelievable. And yes against top opposition. But he hasnt completed a year at one club or the same league so for me its an unfair comparison.

Sancho or Alfonso Davies for me. Haaland will definatley be in for a shout, but I would prefer a full season at Dortmund 1st, if he wins though, won't hear any complaints, exceptional striker.

Haaland has had way more playtime than Greenwood or Martinelli which you ranked above him so I don't get your argument here. I

Sounds really promising. I figured that he was the main reason why A.Madrid weren't showing interest in Salisu. Sounds really promising from what you've said. I'll have to keep an eye on him.

Davies is an influential player for a team that won their league and is challenging for the champions league. The majority of Greenwood’s goals have been scored against lower league level opposition. I’m sorry, but even as a United fan & a Greenwood fan, he doesn’t belong above Davies.

Greenwood has 5 goals in 25 league games as a forward, Davies has 3 in 28 league games as a left back. Davies clearly impacts Bayern’s games far greater than Greenwood does United’s right now.
While your overall point isn't wrong your reasoning is absolutely dreadful. Greenwood's played 645 minutes with 129 minutes per goal, Davies meanwhile has played 2143 minutes with a goal every 714 minutes. Of Greenwood's 22 league appearances this season 18 have come as a substitute.

It’s a bit odd when you see Garner in the same list as Sancho, considering how established the latter is. Is that a joke too?
It just goes to show that there are really only a handful of players this young who are already succeeding for big teams. The majority of the names on this list are either playing regularly but for much smaller teams, or are more like Garner, highly rated talents only just getting their first chances in senior football. Sancho, of course, particularly stands out as the probably favourite to win it.

If we were to sign him we'd have 3 winners of this award in our team. Can any other sides boast that? Someone do the maths, I'm lazy.

Yes, I actually know someone who knows him personally.

A bit too fond of the night life to fulfill his potential it seems, but hopefully he changes his ways.

Haaland has to be the favourite, for all the goals he scored everywhere, including CL. Sancho will the close 2nd. But I won’t be surprise if Sancho winning it though.

Surely Lingard being there must be some sick joke.
What the hell? It totally flew over my head that Lingard was on the list. How is it possible at 27 to be nominated for a golden boy award? :houllier:

Haaland will win for sure. Can’t believe we missed out on him. With Ole being Norwegian as well and having managed him before! What a player.

Sancho and Haaland are the only real contenders. I think Haaland will win because the hype is with him at the moment, although I think Sancho deserves it given his amazing numbers over two seasons in a top league. Felix winning it over him last year was a bad joke.

What actually is the criteria to get shortlisted for this farcical award?
Is it just a 'top potential' award or is it the best young player of that season award?
As some of the shortlisted players have barely featured in the senior team for their respective club, Gravenberch for example, or Esteves who I think has made two or so appearances for Porto?
Really don't get this award at all, makes no sense to me.

If it's based on success on top of outstanding talent, Davies takes the cake. In terms of individual performances it's a toss-up between Sancho and Haaland. I wouldn't mind either of them winning it, they are all brilliant in their own way.

Pretty much. Fati and Greenwood closing out the top five.

It seems to me they only pick some players with high potential in Football Manager, with no reference to their actual performance in real life.

Haaland, Davies, Sancho - any of the 3 deserve it really.

Greenwood, Camavinga, Fati and foden a close 2nd bracket.

It's difficult because not many players of the ages that qualify are tearing it up at the highest level of football. Only Haaland, Sancho and Davies have been out of all the players on that list, with maybe Camavinga to a lesser extent.

Yes there are not many young players tearing it up at the highest level of football, but there are plenty who start regularly in European nation's top tier. They deserve to be shortlisted much more than those who barely feature for the first team.
