Feel like I'm missing a trick here with the jibes between Xbox and playstation. Is one considered a meme? I remember laughing at Billy no mates with PS3s when 360 was all the rage. Has it reversed now? Last console I got was a refurbished PS3 a few years back to play exclusives. Missed the last/current gen as had a beefy PC.

Sony caught up on sales towards the end of the ps3/360 and totally dominated the PS4 era. But its the dawn of a new era atm so the console wars will be particularly in vogue for a few months

Slowest launch day? Most used dodgy loan sharks around the world ever?

Oh I've got it, the hold my beer award for laughing at a rival, then totally beating them in the fecked it up stakes!

Brilliant.
Did you manage to get a PS5? Which model did you opt for?

I got a Series X. I suspect that 4k gaming won't impress me, but oh well.

A tip for anyone using Xbox for the first time, buy enloop rechargeable batteries for your controller. They last for ages.

Xbox controller still has batteries? I thought the controllers in last gen were all charged with a USB charger.

These? I'll have a look see if I can't find them from somewhere other than Amazon.

Xbox uses AA by default. You can buy a rechargeable battery pack thing but I prefer using Enloops. The charge is great in them.

I wasn't even aware Dirt 5 was coming out so I think that'll be my main launch game, in addition to Lost Odyssey (never got a chance to play it).

Excited also about a lot of the Game Pass titles I never got around to - Dragon Quest XI (coming December), both Ori's, Yakuza 1/2, Halo Master Chef Collection, FFXV, Thimbleweed Park, Wasteland 3.

The S is a great choice for those like me who didn't always keep up with the latest games last gen. Very happy treating it like Netflix fo Games.

Ah crap you just reminded me that Yakuza: Like A Dragon is a timed XSS and XSX exclusive.

Why do the controllers still use batteries? It’s one of the main things I hated all the way back on the 360, especially as there was afew occasions where they fell out at big pressure moments on cod causing me to die. Just seems way behind the PlayStation controllers in that department.

The one thing that annoyed me most when I was preordering was seeing the play and charge kits being advertised! Totally assumed that in 2020 they would have made them rechargeable like the PS controllers!

Because when the charge goes in your controller you would have to buy a new one or leave it plugged in. Maybe the PS5 controllers will hold their charge for years, we will see.

Again, this all depends on how good the built in battery is doesn't it? How long did the charge last in your PS4 controller? The way Xbox does give you more options.

 Has to be some of the worst naming convention for technology ever.
That means they sold about 10 of them. They are discontinued now. I have no idea how some of you cope when shopping for a new iphone or ipad. It must be a nightmare.

Honestly never noticed a difference from day one up until I sold it last week. I’m sure the battery had got worse over time but nothing substantial.
To be fair after a year or so I bought a dock for them so they were always being charged in between game time at that point but I see that as a plus because it’s way more convenient and cheaper than replacing batteries

What do you mean? On Playstation you just plug a micro USB into the controller or put It on a charging stand and then you are good to go. Admittedly, PS4 controllers die much faster than the old PS3 ones but it's certainly not an inconvenience at all. It just seems a bit mental to me that Xbox wouldn't have made rechargeable batteries a part of every controller by now, built-in.

I mean, the charge that your PS controller can hold gets less and less over time and there is no way of replacing it.

I've had the same PS4 controllers for six years and they're still fine, as in, not great, similar to launch, about 4-5 hours per charge. The drop off hasn't been bad at all.

Personally I prefer alternating the controller every few days and charging the other rather than having to buy batteries or external charge packs or whatever.

It's really not that big an issue. I still have my launch controllers and they hold their charge fine. I also still have my PS3 ones from launch and those things still last forever.
This just seems like one of those things where the choice isn't better than then convenience.

From my experience the issue definitely exists. You really notice it once you get a newer controller and realize how much longer it lasts. Batterly life is one of the biggest complaints of the DS4 and an area where there is a definite need for improvement on the PS5.

Good that it hasn't dropped off but that 4-5 charge is so bad. The switch controller blows it away. There should be a big upgrade with PS5.

Not sure I'll need one for a while - 1TB should suffice for the time being (got 3TB on my One S mind...).

Seen the rumours about Microsoft buying SEGA by the way?
Yeah, not going to happen. They a public company unlike Zenimax, so would hear something. I think it will be a partnership similar to Square and Sony. Just very strange how Yakuza which was basically a PS franchise has just gone to being a timed exclusive for the Series X and not on PS5.
