This is the result of poor recruiting strategy. A few poster on here like me didn’t believe the hype because they invested so poorly. Their defense was the problem, yet they spent most of their cash on attacking talent. After spending so much and still have the same defense as last season with an aging Thiago Silva. I would not want to be the guy who gave the go ahead for the signings they made. Ole on the other hand, has a better recruiting strategy and even though our board gets so much criticism, they have handled our recruitment much better.

What I don't understand about Lampard - you look at their central defenders and you think.....they are not good enough. And instead he spends almost all his money on strikers, attacking midfielders and wingers. And instead signs a player who turned 36 a few days ago, on a free.

The fullbacks are so high and wide and there is no defensive midfielder to drop in and support the center backs, its such a structural failing in terms of team set up. Any half decent team would shred them apart in those gaps, let alone when they are giving the ball away so carelessly.

I always thought Lampard's style would translate better with better players but losing 3-0 to West Brom is fairly unforgivable.

We were 3 goals off Liverpools defensive record last year. Dont let our start fool you, Ole is leagues above Frank in organising a defence.
And im not even saying Ole is great at it himself.

How did you expect better attacking players would solve the problem of conceding tons of goals? Especially when you ship off your best or at least second-best central defender for 35 year old Thiago Silva.

I actually think he’ll be gone by Christmas if he’s not in the top 3.

Chelsea don’t mess about and have just invested a lot of money, they aren’t accepting this.
They won't sack him anytime soon. He's hardly had a chance, once they get fit and flying it will be a different story.

If people think Roman will sack Lampard soon think twice.
Roman is trigger happy but not a knee jerker

Frank will be given a chance to turn it around obviously, but if he can't stop the freefall then Roman will be forced into a decision

What I don't really understand is that considering Frank seemingly could have had any target he wanted this transfer window.. he didn't even try and address their biggest issues in the defence. Expecting Thiago Silva to fix your problems while you spend 200 million on the front 4 was just naive.

Amazingly they are seemingly after Rice too and possibly one more. Gotta make use of that incredible academy after all.
Rice is a good step in the right direction. Their defense was the issue and I don’t understand why they did not invest heavily on there. They could have signed Koulabalily, Alaba, or any world class defenders, plus a top goalkeeper and that would have significantly improved their side. The only positive I have seen from their signing is Werner.

This is Fifa 101 basic as well. Even in ultimate team, if you get a bunch a player together, your team morale will be low and that will affect performance. Their is no chemistry in that team. This is a good lesson for all the muppets who was envious of all of Chelsea signing last summer.

If I was lampard, I would have signed Oblak/Cakir/Onna, Werner, Alaba/Koulabably/Upamecano, and chillwell instead. In addition the already signed ziyech and Pulasic, that would be a better structured team going into this season.

Because I thought they would keep the ball better most of the times and win it back quickly.

He'll get sacked eventually. Abramovich will build a squad but Lampard just isn't a title winning manager. Its the same with Ole, they're alright in their roles of being legend players doing a job as managers and getting the players to perform to roughly overall where you would expect that squad to be. But neither are at the level where they could turn from top 4 challengers to title winners like Klopp or Pep. So as stop gaps they're fine, but both clubs should be looking constantly for who will actually turn them into winners.

We had one of the best defense in Europe last season. We are just poorly organized. AWb and Shaw are exceptional defense fullback. Probably the best in football. Maguire is a leader in the back. Moreover, we have two first choice goalkeepers. We are much better than we are showing at the moment.

Agree. I believe neither Lampard nor Ole will be in Premier Leauge next season.

Klopp won 2 league titles with BVB, actually.

Have they only signed attackers? Defence and centre mid were the issues surely.

Chilwell but he's injured and the aging Thiago Silva, also brought in the new keeper who isn't ready yet so still got a couple of defensive reinforcements to come in.

Silva will adapt and improve but I’m still not sure he’ll come good. Chilwell is a good signing but probably annoying for the club as I think the competition will make Alonso buck up his ideas when he should have done already.

Chelsea have some great attacking talent, loads of options. Whereas ourselves, we only had Lingard on the bench today!

Well, Lampard managed to drop Kepa. Sarri couldn't even substitute him.

I must say I’m enjoying seeing them not do well. Sure city and pool are the enemies, but there’s a special joy in seeing Chelsea fail this season

His defense will still cause him trouble. If he invested more wisely in the transfer window, Lampard would have a chance to catch liverpool and Manchester City. However, I have not seen much of Mendy. He might help improve their defense. Still have more faith in lampard than I would Ole.
