He can carry on playing like that all season for all I care, with him it’s not about controlling a game, he is just so brutal at making the difference when it counts. The fact that he has the most desire to win in the squad and busts a gut all game is just a bonus.

He’s our star player.
Yeh. At this moment I will take him losing ball all the time and creating 3 goals every match.

He wasn't as bad are some claiming him to be....but he's a match winner plan and simple. Football is about moments and moments win you matches. He's like a more consistent Nani but from the middle of the park with a lot of energy and leadership. Doesn't hide.

Players like him are the difference. Look at how often Liverpool play shit, but they get the win because they have a number of players with Bruno’s attitude.

If we had more of his ilk we’d play better more often, but we’d also scrape wins when we don’t deserve it like today more often.

Can't beleive the abuse Bruno is getting in this thread, assist for Rashford, perfect delivery for our first and cool as ice for the penalty at the end.

He isn't the type of player to recycle possession because he is always trying defense splitting passes and as a result can be loose on the ball, but he is our only creative outlet and we don't score the first 2 goals without him in our team.

Absolutely correct he’s had very little rest for club and country and when DVB settles and Bruno has a chance to rest well see the best of him, he will get 15 PL goals and 15 assists when has Pogba, Pereira or Lingard done that !!!

The best and most unexpected quality is his fantastic mentality. Club needs more players who think of the game the way he does. He's the only player I could see that could comfortably fit in any of Sir Alex's best squads.

I’m not quite sure what people want from him. Bruno makes himself available, is always willing to take the ball and when he gets it, he tries to make it count. In fairness, not much came off in the first half today, but he improved in the second and his incisive and positive passing set Rashford/Greenwood away at least once, respectively.

A prerequisite of his game is that he works like a dog and runs himself into the ground for the cause. I can forgive him a few misplaced passes as I know he plays high risk, high reward balls and that he will work diligently to win the ball back. Even when he’s not quite firing on all cylinders, he’s still involved in goals.

If we ever reach a scenario in which Bruno is our main concern, we will be in a truly lofty position. As for right now, he’s our most important player.

He showed us way more when he first came. Obviously crucial to our play but can see why he’s frustrating fans.

True. You just know he hasn’t joined to make up the numbers or win any participation medals. He’s here to win matches and trophies. Too many of our players are happy enough with mediocrity. You’re right, we could do with more of his ilk.

He’s our most important player, he had a bad first half for sure, but ended the game with 1 goal, 1 assist and put in the cross for our third. He’s a game changer.

He is a great player. Who scores that penalty the way he did? Masterful.

3 goals all Bruno. People more frustrated with him these days because Pogba keeps also giving the ball away with mindless flicks/passes. When you have that going it amplifies Bruno’s general risky haywires. He hasn’t actually increased his frequency of missed passes

It is said that he ran a km more than any player on the pitch today. Get someone other than Pogba and he will play better. I also think we should play the diamond with him on top of the diamond.

We wouldn't have won this game without him today.

It'd be nice if more players had his mentality.

Doesn’t surprise me he’s absolutely everywhere. Always involved with the attack and he’s back defending even when perhaps he shouldn’t be.

he’s the least of out worries and when he plays well he makes such a difference. Unfortunately our CM didn’t pull it’s weight today and had little control for him to dominate

Brunos main strength is he doesn't give up. The first half he had a stinker but he kept going and still produced enough to have a hand in all our goals. His never say die attitude is going to make him a big hit in the coming seasons. Our most important player.

Agree with that , even on his poorer days he is easily our most creative player , yes he gives the ball away at times but he rarely has a game where he does not set up something for those ahead of him , he also gave two great balls in to martial today which on other days could have led to goals.

Bruno Fernandes said:
"When everyone else is shouting, fighting, the VAR is happening, I try keep away. After the handball, everyone was fighting for everything: 'penalty, no penalty'. I take the ball and keep the focus.

"The keeper is coming out, asking for bottles, getting the towel...and I just think "Focus. Focus on what you have to do." I felt the trust of everyone behind me.

"Sometimes we say you have to have balls to take a penalty like this. Everyone is trusting me - they expect me to score, to win for our team. Doesn't matter if I score, or if someone else scores - what matters is the three points we're taking home

"I see Fred fighting with everyone who was coming to take out my focus, taking away the Brighton players."
Even on the days when the balance between creativity and ball retention isn't quite there for him, I find Bruno so hard to criticise. The unbelievable amount of work he puts into every match, the pressing, driving the team on, fighting for every ball...he brings so much to the table, even on his off days. You can always guarantee that when he does lose it, he'll be the first one pressuring to get it straight back.

He's a gem of a player and a leader in every sense of the word.

The honeymoon is over for Bruno it seems and if this was one of his bad games and he still has this much of an influence on our team then he is an absolute gem in my eyes.
If I was going to be really critical on the way he plays then maybe he is always trying to find the killer pass and he turns over possession on occasion but how do we curtail that as that is what he sees at the time; The majority of our team are pedestrian in comparison when it comes to moving the ball and that pisses me off a lot more than Bruno losing possession.

Not problem with that performance. He's very good in tight spaces the majority of the time, watch last season when Pereira/Lingard etc would receive the ball in them half spaces and the difference is night and day but no really noticeable in the grand scheme of things but it makes a massive difference. He's good in close quarters with intricate plays, such a 1-2s with Rashford, Martial and Greenwood but as a whole yesterday, we weren't good enough at that.

His ball to release Rashford was fantastic. He's been a great signing.

He does more in his worst performance for us than most do in some of their best.

What an incredible player.

Love the little lad. Even when things aren't working for him, his work-rate is phenomenal; and he can conjur something out of nothing. He always seems to add some form of major contribution.

I think some people are being overly critical of him here. When the rest of the team is playing like dog shit, it's always going to be difficult to pull out 9/10 performances. He's doing the best he can with what we've got. Once/If the team improves, we will see more and more from him.

He will have a bad game every week but still somehow one of the best players on the pitch. Crazy.

Even when he doesn't perform that well he still makes match winning contributions.

Never a passenger unlike certain other players.

Anyone has a GIF of the fake shot-pass to Martial around the 80th minute? Completely fooled me.

What I love about him is that after he tries those passes and they don't come off, he works super hard to try and win the ball back.

In a way I wish he did shoot though, sometimes he’s too clever for his own good. Martial did well to take it and was close to getting a Shot away - but he’s on the edge of the box with a hammer of a shot himself. I’d like to see him take that on.

I've been very critical of him lately but don't understand why he is being targeted after yesterday. It wasn't a great performance by any means but he made the difference with a razor-sharp through-ball and an ice-cool penalty. One of our best on a day when everyone was pretty poor.

Bruno is undoubtably a great addition to our squad and the whole world appears to recognise that he was a major catalyst in turning our last season around.
However, despite his class, qualities and work rate, he’s far from a complete player, which isn’t necessarily a problem, but many of his criticisms are perfectly valid.
For every excellent game, he’s had a mixed game or sometimes a bad game.
He is far too sloppy at times and gives the ball away a lot.
He’s often a 60 minute player as well, fading away and being less effective later in games, which might not be so bad if we weren’t relying on him so much.
He’s still our best midfielder by far and I’m not knocking him, but there appear to be a lot of blinker wearers on here.

Despite what some have said about pressing opponents, Bruno is not one to get too physical either and his pressing is mostly slack and weak, or he just doesn’t put the effort in. Just watch him closely and see.
This isn’t just an issue with Bruno and I’m not trying to single him out. We have a weak midfield and forward line who more often than not, just down tools when the opposition take possession of the ball.

Great cross for the first, world class assist for the second, ice cold pen for the third.
He isnt even here a year and we are already taking him for granted. He guarentees us a goal or assist every game ffs.

My take is that the forwards lack of movement against Brighton gave him and Pogba a lack of options. Almost every pass was cut out but at least he's trying to find the right ball. He still managed to but in a few tasty balls that no one got on the end of.

Again, I'll say this in most threads for now but the teams of lack match fitness is incredibly telling. It won't be until after the international break when we start to look 'at it' as a team.

Yup. I know the Pogba vs Bruno debate is painful but they’re both the type of player where you have to tolerate being wasteful and repeatedly losing possession because you know they can produce moments of genius which turn a game. At least one of them has actually been producing these moments.
