ts probably this forum that I see so much fascination with United’s attack. All I see honestly is a bunch of above average footballers who can run very fast, a very talented but still too young Greenwood and the Penalty Lord. Thats why you do a lot better when you invite pressure and counter. IMHO, United need a lot of actual WC reinforcements in attack that'll actually bench their current crop or force them to improve their game. We did that for our crop from last season and the competition can only help them improve.

Neither is Ole so why swap in the first place? Isnt that like Cos 90°?

Yeah the attack that outscored Liverpool's trio last season are definitely a bunch of above average footballers who just run very fast.

Utter drivel.

Lots of Chelsea fans keep talking about xG as though Kepa was the main problem. Well he was nowhere near the starting line up yesterday. The reality is that Lampard has major systemic problems to address. You’ve done a lot of business this summer but I struggle to see where your defensive improvements are going to come from.

I’ll also say it again – it’s amazing how much leeway Lampard gets. He needs time for his signings to bed in apparently. Ole doesn’t get any sort of backing and is then hammered widely for not doing a good enough job. Amazing double standards.
He’s getting hammered by alleged Utd fans. It’s our fans that are the worst source of the OGS bashing. Just look on here and Twitter. Our fanbase is horrific.

Not a chance. I'd not swap squads, managers, management, or ownership with you.
Likewise, the only thing you have over United right now is a bigger squad.
In terms of quality in the first 11 we are still even.

Lampard gets it on Twitter as well to be honest, I saw someone post a KKK picture at the club yesterday because apparently Lampard a racist for dropping Rudiger.

It’s just the perfect example of an echo chamber. Too many ‘fans’ are just getting sucked further and further into their own echo chamber.

There’s no media agenda against OGS, just fans see all the shit going around by their own fans on social media. It’s self perpetual.

Fans on here would rather say Lampard gets a free ride because he’s English and the media love him. When the reality it that it’s a proportion of United ‘fans’ that despise OGS and want him gone and nothing to do with nationality and media.

Neco Williams shut his twitter account the other day because of the abuse he received from Liverpool fans about a poor performance in a 7-2 win in the third round of the League Cup.

The world has gone mad.

I'm I really? What exactly does Rashford do at United? He can run very fast and shoot very hard sometimes on target. There is really nothing more to his game than that and if you're honest to yourself you'd agree. Martial is a lot better footballer than Rashford and will be more effective on the left wing but he is stuck in at CF which he really isn't to accommodate Rashford because he's an even worse CF than Martial. Then there is the talented CF Greenwood who is also shoehorned at RW. You guys probably have an even more unbalanced attack setup than we do but apparently MMM = BBC.
Then there is James, another r‘un a lot and nothing else’ winger and the totally finished Ighalo. Like I said, United need actual WC players in attack.

Lamps current philosophy - Get the ball to James so he can cross it (He's got a good cross on him I have to say)

Philosophy when everyone is fit - Pass to Pulisic and Ziyech for them to cut in and cause havoc.

Yes you are. You're either a WUM or a complete idiot if you think that. What does that make Liverpools attack if ours outscored theirs out of interest?

Their best signing may be Ziyech after all. Will be interesting to see him play.

Chilwell our most important signing and you could see why yesterday... Left back was a key position and we need a goal keeper, so looking forward to Mendy playing and Kepa being hopefully loaned out. Was obvious last season, we're a poor defensive unit. Kepa not the main reason we conceded 54 goals last season, he deteriorated as the season went on and had confidence totally destroyed. If you go back and look at his performances when he signed for us, was a much better player, regressed with us in a big way.

Good to see Havertz showing his class last two games after a pretty nightmarish debut, hopefully Thiago Silva will be similar. Also very good to see the academy players contributing so much going forward, 4 out of 6 goals so far in the league came from them.

Trying to forge a team and system from our massive squad not an easy task for Frank, much more so without a pre-season. Can see why he wants to keep the home developed players in the team, whilst still fitting the signings in. Personally don't think it's a coincidence that we go an concede 3 awful goals again when we try to dominate the ball in the game. We look much better defensively if play a bit deeper, more directly and on the counter more, as we did against Brighton and for 46 minutes v Liverpool. Also need to work on defending set pieces still too.

I think we have to stick to 4231, playing Kante + 1 in the 2, can fit the players we have to that system best, maybe need give Kante and Kovacic better tactical instructions if they play together. Don't want them both going up the pitch and leaving us exposed.

They've got a good side, just like we've got a good side, with a few obvious gaps, lead by a manager whose proven nothing, isn't a good tactician, but gets a lot of backing because he's a club legend.

Sounds familiar

The managers are both on a similar level, so I'm not sure why'd you boast about that.

I'd wait until the end of the season before boasting about squads and management.
Not boasting, just don't think that our manager is "a bigger issue" than yours is. As things stand, I'd not swap our situation for yours.

They were dreadful in the first half, but the second half was a big improvement.

Kante seems reluctant to attempt through balls. A few times I have seen Werner try to break with Kante with the ball, but he doesn't look like he has the confidence to make such a pass. It could hold Chelsea back.

I think Thiago Silva will end up being good, but that was bad yesterday.

Alonso is really bad. Chelsea needs Chillwell fit as soon as possible.

Havertz looked better, but still has lots of improving to do.

My prediction before the season started was that Ziyech would end up your best signing this season, so we will see whether I am right.

Your best answers may be in the players you already have, though - Pulisic and Odoi.

Alonso looked horrible yesterday I thought. Kanté and Kovacic both tend to push forward and I don't think they're a good fit together. Mount shouldn't be played as a winger but rather centrally, maybe a bit deeper to accommodate Havertz who is also much better in the middle. Still a lot potential left in this team when Ziyech and especially Pulisic are coming back.

Marcus 'Run Fast Shoot Hard' Rashford got 22 goals last year, playing from the left and broke his flipping back in January! As others have mentioned, also part of an attack that got more goals than the Liverpool front three. Not bad for a hard kicking, fast running 22 year old.

Our defence finished top four. Unless you think adding Chilwell and Silva made it worse.

Also, did I say Silva will be "one of the best CBs in the league'? No, please don't lie. I said he'll improve our defence and one slip in his second game hasn't changed that opinion.

I say plenty of dumb stuff on here, you don't need to make things up.
But at the same time you disagreed with my opinion 2 weeks ago when I’ve said that Silva might give Chelsea fans some ’false hope’ regarding whether he’ll improve your defence or not. I said that a 35 year old Silva won’t improve anything and you totally disagreed. But it’s too early to make any conclusions yet, as you mentioned. Feels like a Arsenal signing though.

If everyone put all their own problems into a massive pot, most people would be thankful to have their own problems back than someone else’s.

Our fans base seems fan more toxic and self loathing than Chelsea’s - but then again I don’t Frequent Chelsea forums.

I am far happier with Ole than I would be with Lampard, and I wouldn’t swap either. So that’s good.

I think that's entirely fair! I just took issue with the poster I originally quoted who said that Chelsea have "issues bigger than ours".

What happened to Mount's reputation? Some view him as a typical generic English workhorse CM but I thought the kid was an absolute top talent in his Chelsea youth days?

Those people are pretty dumb, if they've actually watched him play a fair bit.

Because he is hard working and not particularly flashy (although he has scored some bangers), people seem to think he is very limited as a player which is not true at all.

His reputation at the club is about as high as it could be. He's not far off the first name on the teamsheet.

Takes a really special kind of person to judge a side, new signing, or league table after 3 games. I have a Liverpool mate who after their first game, has them down to win the league by 25 pts. I mean, feck off

You are little harsh on Rashford, but yes, the guy has his limitation. Agree most of what you said, except the last sentence. United does have WC attack, however everyone plays out of their natural position in order to satisfy Ole's fantacy of playing all 3 all the time at any cost. That is the problem.

Their defense is horrendous. Ours has been rubbish of late too but at least we have the comfort of ours having been solid last season.
Yours was "solid" because Ole played conservative tactics for the most part (the few times Frank did the same we looked pretty comfortable at the back aswell, City at home for example).

This season he appears to have opened up a bit more and you've looked abysmal. It honestly wouldn't have been undeserved if Palace and Brighton between them stuck about 10-12 past you.

I’ll also say it again – it’s amazing how much leeway Lampard gets. He needs time for his signings to bed in apparently. Ole doesn’t get any sort of backing and is then hammered widely for not doing a good enough job. Amazing double standards.
Ole was given similar leeway before he had a transfer window, I mean he had a pundit try and pressure your board on live TV to give him a permanent deal FFS.

The Xg defence on the whole is a bit of stretch to excuse Lampard, I don’t use that excuse generally as it’s obvious our defence was poor last season. I do think yesterday was an improvement from last season on the whole, but the individual errors and set piece defending could still be huge issues. Silva will be a good addition, very experienced and is still at a high level. I’m not a fan of Chilwel but he’s definitely an improvement on Alonso defensively. Lampard is a big part of the issue though, his system is clearly weak defensively and does need changes.

I don’t think lampard is good enough to get us competing for the league, I’ve said that multiple times on here. However he has done a decent job so far really. Things looked very bleak 14 months ago when he took over. He needs to get a defensive coach in though.

The diff is one spent a lot of money this season and the other didn’t? I can’t see anything other than a top 3 is not a failure for Lampard. Judging by the first 3 games he is not even gonna get top 4.

You lot didn't spend that much less for Ole's first transfer window and needed to dig into the market again in January to even make parity with your 18/19 points total.

If our season post Frank's first transfer window falls into a similar pattern he will be subject to heavy criticism if not the sack, and rightly so!

And you spent just about the same amount last year and we didn't?
