What the point of watching a players over a period of time and you don’t plan to sign him. Alex signed Bebe out of impulse after of a scout recommendation. What kind of scouting network do we have here? Scouting is to find a player with future potential and not someone who is already to set into XI. If you are finding players who step right into XI, then it will be based on analytics. Dortmund is finding cheap players and selling for a profit. We could run the same model except that good players will not be sold.
We take too long in preparing to bid that by the time we're actually bidding, the player has signed for someone else.

Surely he isn't good enough to go straight into first team squad?

Anyways, you're probably right, on this player all roads most likely lead to Ole having the casting vote.
He might very well not be good enough, but he would never accept signing as an academy player.

Hauge really impresses this year. I do think he would suit United on the counter and also against established defence. But he would of course need some time to get adjusted to PL physicality and get to know the team and playstyle. But he already has all he need to succeed anywhere imo.

Edit: and I am so tired of our league selling the best talents for pocket change. This needs to change. UEFA already have messed up the economical differences through the european cup changes. Hauge should not go for less than 10-15 at the very least imo. I mean, Elyonussi went for 25 or something from Belgium. Sørloth for almost 30 from Turkey. And Hauge, in my eyes a much better player, younger and more talented can go for 4? Norwegian clubs needs to start demanding more.

Just cos James inst yet good enough for United doesnt mean he is so crap. Leeds rate him very highly, and he'd get a gig at lower PL clubs or top championship sides.

Posters who know Norwegian football say it's about Championship level, but without so many games, so actually even a level below. There is zero evidence that this kid can even translate his level of performance from a level below James right now, into playing for Manchester United!
If we always thought like that we’d never take a punt on the likes of Solskjaer, johnnsen, sharpe etc who were all playing “lower level”

Looks like he's heading to Milan then, shame looks like a good talent.

I was hoping Ole could push the board and the deal through.

No i'm guessing that he/she was taking offence for everybody in Norway for some strange reason that I asked the question.
Not taking offence at all - just found it a bit funny that someone would even contemplate the idea that two people would a very common name among 5 million people are related :)

According to his latest twit,us along with Leipzig and Salzburg interested in player with Milan in better position
By "better position" that Milan have actually initiated contact and we haven't. We're just monitoring, because if there's one thing we're still the best in the world at, it's monitoring.

No it's fine mate, I overreacted because I thought you had. It's just a surname I wouldn't automatically associate with Norway, and thanks to World Soccer i've probably seen every Norwegian International team line-up since the early 70's, and I don't recall ever seeing the name before.

He just seems the perfect fit for what we need right now. Could buy him relatively cheap and wouldn't be expecting to play every game straight away.

Really hope Ole has some pull with the norgweigens.

It was actually only 6305 people called Hauge in Norway - it's the 56th most common name in Norway :)

Jens Petter Hauge confirms that he is doing what he can to get out before Monday to take advantage of the fact that he is in great shape. "By staying here it can be a few long weeks where I feel like I'm wasting time"

He's begging to be picked up.

If we can't sign Sancho we should really get this kid as a stop gap until then - he's the type of signing Fergie used to make, a bolt out of the blue and turn him into a superstar.

He looks to have every raw attribute and he's shown great consistency to have such a good goal/assist record, and the performance away to Milan really cemented it.
