The senate judiciary committee getting ravaged by the virus is delicious irony for Mitch McConnell trying to ram through a supreme court appointment.

2) Everywhere had PPE shortages because unsurprisingly countries do not keep massive stockpiles of PPE which goes out of date. I'm not saying they handled that perfectly but the idea that that wasn't something that would have happened whoever was leader is rather absurd.
Actually France had lot of PPE that were out of date or close to. Because during a previous health event that turned out to not be that important, a Health minister bought too many.

I got a mixed opinion about this. On one hand, maybe a lot more americans will take it seriously instead of making it political, on the other hand, it may be worse if Trump comes out completely unharmed and claims it is a weak thing, nothing to worry about.

It seems Hope Hicks wasn't at the Rose Garden event so she may not be the one contaminating Trump. The other interesting thing is the news of her being ill was a leak, so would we have known the other things otherwise?

What is the USA law for not quarantining or self isolating, and going into public events if you know you have covid19?
If the debate allegations are true, can Trump be charged?
Trump didn't get charged for quid pro quo. He didn't get charged for colluding with Russia. He didn't get charged for tax fraud. You think he is going to get charged for not quarantining?

Basically all countries with big outbreaks - France, Germany, US, Italy, Spain.... had PPE shortage
I'm actually quite sympathetic to Spain and Italy. For them it did come out of the blue. The warnings being heard weren't that different to the ones we'd heard before about SARS1, MERS etc - which really had little impact in Europe. France and the UK did have a little more time to react, there was something pathetic about UEFA and the PL responding quicker than the UK government did.

That said, governments tend not to be that nimble, priorities seldom change overnight. We know now that we were about to go into a massive government spending change. All those under-prepared things in the UK, like PPE stockpiles (identified by the last pandemic test exercise as an issue) and measures for securing local supply alternatives couldn't have been fixed overnight. But quarantine for people returning from Italy/Spain etc might have helped, along with measures to handle school halfterm trips etc. Still, we're talking a couple of weeks delay in this, plus some massive screwups as they tried to get supplies via their mates and from various other con men.

The US and Trump don't have those excuses. They saw it coming, they had more warning before it really hit. Even as it raced through NY they still failed to learn. That's the unforgiveable error. The fact that key medical and scientific advisors got talked over and had their opinions discounted in favour of Trump's feel good messaging and blatant disregard for public health, is why he gets a bigger portion of blame. The US had the time, the money, the manufacturing capacity, and the healthcare specialists to do better than Europe - Trump and his fan club chose to learn nothing.

Having the federal justice department reporting directly to the president with its leader appointed by the president pretty much assures a president is above the law, no matter what the courts try and say.

Feel uncomfortable with people wishing him ill. Yes he's a cnut, but a democratically elected cnut who is just a totem symbol of millions of cnuts with similar viewpoints. Maybe at least these people will actually wake up to the realities of the virus.
The cnut has been responsible for thousands of unnecessary Covid deaths though his intentional misinformation campaign, whilst touting his personal brilliance saying that without him, it could well have been 2 million deaths; only lied 22,000 times in public and have incited racist attacks. Go ahead and feel uncomfortable.

I certainly don't. In fact I hope he has a slow painful death, in a few years time.

Idiot and chief. You can't make this stuff up. America is a failed state and it's happening before our eyes.

If he were to die from this, he’d be remembered and revered positively - wouldn’t he?
He doesn’t deserve that.

Do we know if Biden is going to give daily updates?
I really could use it for my blood pressure.

Yeah exactly. He'll become a martyr.
It'll be more satisfying to see him getting dragged out of the White House screaming about Antifa and mail in ballots

Bye-bye examination of tax returns. Bye-bye inquest into white supremacy remarks. Bye-bye presidential debate which would give Biden a chance to ram home advantage.

This has thrown a whole new layer of ambiguity to an election which was already shrouded in it. How this plays with floating voters is going to cause Dems cold sweats.

I hope you guys are right, I just don’t see it because American media is messed up and the Democrats are still bringing knives to a gun fight.

He’s going to escape all scrutiny even if he does recover

Yup, with the chance to reset himself and claim an epiphany moment in order to win back voters who were prepared to turn away.

*Edit - it's even ensured any personal attacks from Biden, no matter how truthful, will be looked at as distasteful - whilst his campaign will carry on slinging mud.

There seems to be an underlying want for him to die. I love when people pretend their such nice people but then urging death. Hypocrites.

That's just not true. It's fairly overt.

Why should I care about a man who explicitly doesn't care for me and who is abusing the second most powerful nation on earth to enrich himself?

Being nice to evil people isn't the hallmark of nice people.

What has he actually done that is so bad? I don't get it.

Has he committed genocide? Has he enacted a new holocaust? Did he create coronavirus? Has he murdered people? Has he enacted a reign of tyranny? No. You would know the difference between a dictatorship and what you have if you ever really experienced it.

People have gone nuts about him. It has gone way over the top. I understand if you don't support him, but nutters are being revealed left, right, and centre.

I don’t want him to die.
I simply don’t care if he dies, in the same way he doesn’t care to denounce white supremacy.

Oh please, he's taken away health care from millions and has tried to do so for tens of millions. That in itself is enough, even if you ignore ICE, his handling of Covid, and the hundreds of other reasons to hate his guts.

I do find it amusing when Clinton went down with pneumonia prior to the last election Trump delighted in it and it was the source of mockery and numerous conspiracies which gave her support a hit. But now everyone has to tread on eggshells and feign concern for Trump? Much less people are going to vote for him because people were mean about him?

Anyone who's pushed to supporting Trump by this was going to vote for him anyway, they were going to find a reason one way or the other.

His response to covid has been ludicrous and I do hold him personally culpable for a portion of covid deaths in the USA. A completely unnecessary number of people have died and will continue to die because of his actions and words regarding it.
