We don't currently have a single defender who is worthy of playing every week for a team that wins the title, or comes close to winning it.

Arguably most of them aren't even worthy of European football.

Even before the third, he threw himself at a loose shot and could easily have given away a penalty if it'd hit his arm. Such reactionism is not good good defending.

Yes he is. He's suffering from what Lindelöf suffered: Trying to save Maguire's ass countless times because he's fecking slow and clueless as a defender. Also under a competent manager Bailly have the ability to be a top defender. For Maguire there's no hope as he's absolutely average and that's his ceiling.

For all his physical weaknesses, Lindelof is the ONLY player who talks and attempts to organise our defence.

Hopefully people will now realise that.

Lindelof/Bailly should be at least tried as a combo.

Ole has fixed nothing. 150 million spent last summer on our defence and right wing. Our defence is now worse than it used to be and James isn't anywhere near good enough for us. There's this narrative that his signings have been great but Bruno aside, they haven't. And he's a very average coach to boot. Should be a lovely season ahead while we refuse once again to move on and modernise as a football team.

Honestly to a man they are horrendous. Wan Bissaka is fecking useless at pretty much all things apart from 1v1 defending. Please nobody tell me he is anything different than that. His on ball quality is embarassing and his defending in all other aspects is horrendous too.

Maguire has shown good form in the past, and maybe he is decent. But he is not the guy to be the main guy, nowhere close. Bailly I like but after 4 years.. can't really say he's worth his spot. Shaw is mediocre at every aspect of the game. Just fecking delete the defensive group and start over.
