It's a problem if he ever thought the club would be able to sign both Grealish and Sancho.

I assume it was Grealish instead of VdB and Sancho instead of Pellistri/Traore

Would’ve thought Telles was a preferred target though. Perhaps he wanted Reguilon more

Fail to get top 4 and get sacked. Achieve top 4 and don't get backed. Welcome to the Ed Woodward show.

Same sort of thing happened to our previous three managers, no surprise it happened to Solskjaer too.

Guess that "culture change" Woodward spoke about last year doesn't apply to how we do transfers.

They're too expensive. Get a cheaper player and improve him instead.

We of all clubs should know that these big buys don't work out.

We really went for Reguilon didn't we, it was the clauses that scuppered it. It all comes down to money doesn't it. They have given him the cheap options.

Oles first choices would have been something like..

Sancho
Grealish
Reguilon
Upamecano

And we all know what we got.

Moyes - none of his targets were acquired, apart from Fellaini hahaha
LvG - probably 50-50 I would say
Jose - nuff said about his latter years though he was backed in Year 1 with all 4 of his targets.
Ole - got Bruno but nobody else.

We have a track record of transfer failure with everyone except LvG

Although these articles are both tiring and unsurprising we need maintained pressure on the ownership and board.

Signing both Sancho and Grealish would've meant spending close to £200 million.

All this makes it obvious that the club are not behind Ole. They should either back him or sack him.

I doubt many here would have liked signing Grealish for 80m instead of VDB for 40m.

Beside missing on a 120m attacker is hard to blame the board for.

If I would blame Woodward for something it's missing most of the summer waiting for BVB to miraculously lower their price demand. Once their deadline day was reached on Aug 10th, we should have immediately moved on to other targets.

Ole has got his top targets last year with Maguire and AWB.

First choice doesn't necessarily mean guarantee success.

Pardew 'wanted pace'
Little anecdote for y'all.

I've been on a work call this afternoon and decided to build a new team in FIFA Ultimate Team. I bid on this one guy and was outbid in the final 30 seconds. The next opportunity that arose with the guy in my price range, I was outbid again. After 4-5 failed attempts over a 50 minute period, I started to bid on an alternative and was successful on my first attempt.

The moment I did this I thought, "How incompetent are Manchester United?" Then I remembered we're run by leeches who need that speculation for publicity and we probably never really seriously wanted Sancho this season anyway.

Not a good coach it seems, but I can't complain with his wishlist. Good players there that would fit the club for many years, frustrating that Ed couldn't bring in Upamecano particularly.

Rubbish article based on idle speculation. If it did happen to be true then I'm glad we missed Ake and Grealish for the money quoted.

Are people stupid enough to think a non oil backed club could afford to spend €240m in the middle of a fecking pandemic? We spent 150m this year which is no insignificant amount.

This is a completely stupid way of running a club and our fanbase are massively responsible for a lot of this stupid mentality.

Grealish has more to his game and the personality to be a creative leader in our team. He would have brought much more than VDB, imo. For that reason, the price wouldn't have mattered to me.

I will agree with the VDB signing if Ole actually plays him more. Grealish is playing for his side and contributing so well. Ole is not doing Donny any favours by just sitting him on the bench. The next game will be interesting if he starts with Donny and Telles or still sticks with the ones who are letting him down. If he does, what was the point of making any signings?

am really struggling to retain interest and support in this club. I feel like I'm submitting to something rotten and impure.
I get the sense that Liverpool or Leeds are pure sporting projects when I watch them. But connecting with United is a very dirty feeling nowadays.

Of course he will. That's the only thing Woodward knows. We are destined to be "a project" forever.

You think Maguire, AWB and Bruno had unsuccessful first seasons?
For the money we have paid I would have expected them to perform at a higher level than what they have shown so far

I like how you've conveniently added Bruno to the list, but didn't include James

Give peas a chance.

The sad thing about this one is I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge by this point that SAF gift-wrapped the Thiago transfer for Moyes and all he had to do was green light it when he arrived. If he had kept the backroom staff and signed that lad, he might have seen out a year. :houllier:

Under a tree.
Think this article is just being made up and don't believe it because of the Upamecano and Ake bit, surely if you go for Ake it's because you wanted a player that fits his profile, being a left footed LCB, why Upamecano than....
I am sure he wanted Sancho, maybe Grealish

I'm gutted for him. He should honestly resign today, and then wait for the likes of Bayern or Madrid to come calling after him and can't wait to spunk £150m+ a year on his signings with a maximum expectation of top 4.

Forgot about those 2 actually! Though I'm not sure if Maguire was completely his idea considering we were just continuing on a saga from the previous year.

AWB was probably his idea though.
