No offence, but I don't like to help you out here, when you seemed a bit posh about your own team which you wanted to tease about how good it was, but didn't want to show earlier on. You didn't want to share, so I don't see a great need to share advice the other way with you.

It seems strange to see you help out others in that regard, as if it's a one way-street of advice the one day, and next day you're asking for basic advice like this.
Haha, wow.

So because i didn't want to share my entire team the day before the league started, that makes me a "one way street"? If you haven't noticed, I've both asked questions and needed advice, as well as trying to help others and giving advice plenty of times both before and after that little "posh" thing the day before kick off. I'm always fairly open about my team, always have been, and always will be. I ask for advice, and I try to give advice. Both ways. Every week.
Just not my entire team the day before kick off. That's not about being "smug" or "posh", it's about wanting to keep my gameplan to myself for the last 24 hours before the game starts. I even said my team was as basic and template as any.

And please, don't answer my question. If you actually hold a grudge towards me for that little full-XI thing, you're entitled to that. There are plenty of other helpful people in here anyway, and whatever I end up doing is obviously going to be the wrong choice, as always.

That's the whole point in having 1.8 in the bank. I currently have no Pool defenders and only Salah as a premium mid. If and when KDB starts preforming and Liverpool look more solid in the back I can easily upgrade. From the first 4 fixtures there's no value in City attackers or Liverpool defenders.
Makes sense, I guess. 1.8 gives you flexibility, and your team is very good. I just feel 1.8m is better spent than saved.

Is it worth taking a hit to do James -> Chilwell and TAA -> Robertson? I'm quite happy with the rest of my team, and have a decent start to the season. THe defense have been generally horrible, though, with both rotation and lack of points being an issue. This will even out I'm sure, but keeping rotation players (James, Dunne, Mitchell) is never a good thing.
James to Chilwell is a no-brainer but if you have the sub options on the bench to hold out and not cost yourself points then wait and do it then.

Sure enough. From the outside it just seems a bit self-contradicting, that you see yourself as a super great FPL manager with potential for numerous top 100k finishes that wont post your XI, but then you do want to be asking for simple advice like this. I mean, if you have such a high ceiling, what can we even bring to the table? Not holding a grudge, just don't understand why you even ask us for advice, if you see yourself as such an expert.

By the way, wouldn't go Robertson for Trent. Would look to not have a Chelsea-defender in the first place (a James owner myself - Going for both Robertson + TAA in the long run)

Well, I actually have some top 100k finishes (top 30k and 7k). But I really, really don't see myself as a super great manager. I've never said that. Maybe you see me as a super great FPL manager? ;) I'm more interested and invested than most, that's all. I'm not an expert, and have never claimed to be an expert.

Others opinions is always helpful, no matter how invested/interested/skilled you are. They might have thought of things I haven't, or simply view things differently and can explain why they view things the way they do.

Regarding TAA, James, etc. I'm probably staying put for another GW, saving up to 2 FTs again next week (spent 1 of the 2 I had this week on Zaha -> Grealish). Liverpool look a totally different defensive team with Adrian, which is what makes me uncomfortable hanging on for to long, but it's not really for defensive reasons I have TAA anyway.

I agree, and I'm not so sure my bench options is enough really. Dunne probably won't play this weekend, but Mitchell might/should play at least. But yeah, I'll hold on until next week and reassess then.

Is anybody considering Adrian? Cheap and surely Pool won't concede 7 every game.
They couldn't buy a cleansheet with him in goal at the start of last season, and they already conceded 7 in one game with him. Allison will be back by GW9, so don't see the point with Adrian.

I feel risky going with Kane and in turn having no Man City players (would have been Sterling or KDB).

My team now has a bunch of double ups, which is against my usual rules.

They are highlighted in bold, any suggestions to not have as many double ups (I have 0.5 in the bank)?

Martinez
Saiss, Robertson, Chilwell
Salah, Son, Graelish, Rodriguez
DCL
, Kane, Maupay

Subs: Forster, Ayling, Bissouma, KWP

Note, don't consider the Brighton and Southampton lads as double ups as the bench players are different in my own personal rules...

Difficult to suggest when you play by arbitrary rules rather than what is likely to score more points longer term. That team looks pretty much what I’d be wildcarding into, aside from the bench.

Looks good to me, but then again it's exactly the same as my team except I have Adrian/Castagne instead of Chilwell/Martinez

Haha yeah these rules are more because I like having a spread but I think you're right, I may not focus on this.

I guess that this is the template right? Now watch Kane get injured whilst KDB starts hauling.

Not able to decide on - Havertz or Pulisic?

Who could be the better option?

It could be, but I am not fully sure about Chelsea. Still Chillwell is attacking.
Kepa might be back in goal. Southampton got a decent attack, but still a ´good clean sheet chance.
If you got poor other options then it is more worth doing now.

KDB likes playing against Arsenal I think. Didn't he haul vs them twice last season?
It is still clear he is not in form though. Although a break could help him out.

I am considering him as my captain given how poor the other options are.
Son/Kane, KDB,Salah, DCL/James?

If fit, Pulisic all day.

I'm doing Kane. Looks to be scoring, assisting and on pens so many routes to points.

KDB did destroy arsenal twice but he's not in form, they don't have a true striker for him to assist and arsenal look far more difficult to break down these days.

I just fancy West Ham to do well. They are looking solid. Still Arsenal are solid these days too.
I am tempted to take a big punt. James or DCL vs Liverpool or even Watkins or Maupay.
Although in the end I will probably just go with Salah who rarely let's me down.

It is a really tricky week though. All big sides got tricky games. From watching enjoyment Son makes most sense I think.
I don't like having too many eggs in the same games. Already got 4 players in Liverpool vs Everton so adding a captain is too much.

What are peoples opinions on Saiss v. Castagne?

Part of me wants Saiss as Wolves have great fixtures, a defensively solid team and it saves me 0.5 in the bank.

But Castagne is like a winger with great attacking potential but Leicester look shaky in defense and have tougher fixtures so I'll be relying on those attacking returns...

Currently have that same midfield, but i'll be honest, Grealish is in there to see if he goes up 0.2!
I have 4.5m in the bank as I took De Bruyne out as he was going done from 11.7 to 11.6. Still seems very risky to me going without their best player.

May even go with
Salah, De Bruyne, Son, Grealish and Rodriguez
and work off a front 3 of DCL, Watkins and 4.5m Brewster

Though am more likely to have 5.1m Jorginho and have Bamford instead of Brewster

Castagne has arrived like a freight train. If I didn't already have Justin who is a lot cheaper, he'd be under serious scrutiny and possibly even worth downgrading TAA to him.
He looks to be close-ish to a rise, whereas TAA is on the way to a fall, but you know TAA can smash you when least expected, so is dangerous to go without.

If you can afford both then I'd generally favour the attacking defender because you're not always relying on clean sheets.
Good point. My gut is saying Castagne ahead of Saiss.

I got rid of TAA, although I know it'll bite me in the ass. My defense is:

Robertson, Castagne, Chilwell (Ayling, Lewis)

If you got rid of TAA for Robertson I don't think its an issue at all (I had Robertson from the beginning :D)

In contrast to the geezer above, I'd say if you can get Robertson you can probably squeeze someone else down 0.5m

TAA is the set piece guy and will get as many assists as Robertson as a minimum.

I can swap Robertson to TAA if I get Saiss for Castagne.

So essentially:

Robertson, Castagne, Chilwell (Ayling, Lewis)

Vs.

TAA, Saiss, Chilwell (Ayling, KWP)

That's a difficult one.
How about TAA and Justin instead, then you could improve one of your bench boys as well maybe.

Can Castagne play on the left? When their long term injury guy Pereira is back on the right, who plays?

According to Leicester fans, when Pereira returns, Justin will be benched and Castagne goes to the left.

I like Saiss as well as Castagne because wolves are solid in defense. Such a tough choice.

Tempted to swap out Trent for castagne
Did this too except I went for Chilwell (wanted him since the start but he was injured to begin with)
Felt a bit risky to drop Trent, but planning to get Salah in the next 2 weeks to get Liverpool cover

Son has superb fixtures and has scored massively in his last two games.

Critical to have.

Im entertaining the idea of trying to fit castagne to taa and chilwell whilst keeping a powerful mid

Is everyone keeping the faith with Bruno? considering -4 him out for Son while we hopefully turn the corner over the next few fixtures. If we come back next week the way we left off theres no value in utd players
Not sure about a -4 to transfer out a fit Bruno, unless you need the money.

No Son/Kane (yet) but I think Bruno will still get big points even if we're shit so I'm not dropping him:

Martinez

Semedo
Robertson
Lamptey

Havertz
Rodriguez
Salah
Bruno

Brewster
DCL
Ings

1.9m in the bank, which I might upgrade Havertz to Son for if I feel I need to. Already took a 4pt hit to make the above so I'll wait.

(Brewster I think will start after the internationals, otherwise I have Kyle Walker Peters on the bench to come on. Don't think Southampton will keep a clean sheet, though so there was no point trusting him from the off).
