Over 4000 players are currently on international duty and few youth matches were already cancelled.
It will be our luck to have a few players out for the derby and Liverpool have all their stars returning.

Up to 20 infections per 100,000 here for the first time now. As a result only 1000 fans will be allowed into the stadium and more than 10,000 tickets have to be returned. Had just got used to big crowds the stadium experience again.

There will certainly be a few more clubs folding like Bury & Macclesfield that's for sure. Hopefully there isn't a meltdown between now & the start of 2021.

Doing internationals at this moment in time was mind numbingly daft. In a world where air travel is limited, it just makes no sense. Total recipe for disaster.

The clubs must be furious. They keep their players in a bubble and it has mainly been successful then UEFA/FIFA decide it is a great idea sending players all over the world.

I dont know why but I find players running to the corner flag celebrating a goal in empty stadiums quite amusing.
I used to do the same in the park or the playground on the rare occasion that I’d fumble one in, can hardly blame them.

Naby Keita and four other Guinea players have tested postitive for Covid-19 whilst on international duty for Guinea. What a farce, wish we just quarantined our lot like Juve + Napoli have done.

It's mad, like I get they're in a tight spot because of qualification for tournaments but they should have found a better solution than this. To start with why have they not done something similar to CL and Europa where you set out a month where International teams can complete their qualification games in the same country. Would that have not made more sense?

Euro 2020 needs to just be cancelled, there arent going to be fans in stadiums across Europe for a number of years, sooner they accept that the better. Let this one lie, move on. Start the process of World Cup qualifiers for 2022, forget about the Euros.

Up to 7 Irish players out at the moment. One confirmed case of a player (not sure who it is), 4 others are considered close contacts of him. Idah and Connolly were out of the Slovakia game because they were considered close contacts to a staff member who it now seems may have been a false positive. Looking at our squad the players out seem to be; Idah, Connolly, Egan, Robinson, O'Dowda, McGoldrick (may be an injury for him). Assuming that any of the close contacts now have to isolate for 14 days.

Absolutely ridiculous! And now Israel who are in lockdown will play Czechia who could go into lockdown on wednesday. It's a freaking joke.

International football is so stupid to be played right now and they are playing 3x as well in less than 2 weeks.

Is it worth pointing out that the virus is clearly more prevalent right now than when leagues decided to postpone matches back in March? Is it just a matter of time before that happens again?

Definitely. Greedy to have the nations league going on during already a short season. Just have the euros at the end of the season with a couple of friendlies beforehand. No one needs glorified friendlies.

In March we didn't have mass testing so we were always clinging on until a player got it causing a domino effect, and the fact players are catching it without passing it onto a significant number of teammates/recent opponents makes a squad outbreak unlikely.

If it comes to it i reckon they will be put in a world cup esque bubble camp for the required period.

More prevalent because there is more testing happening. Apples and oranges.

Liverpool going for the herd immunity approach.
You jest, but it might not be a bad idea. These guys are the lowest risk possible, if they can get it out of the way and recover, they have a full squad for the rest of the season. Other teams will get picked off by this over the course of the season. All this is assuming there’s no second lockdown (there probably will be).

Fifa and Uefa are run by the dumbest, most callous group of people in the world of football.

I’d questioned why there were any international matches happening at this stage in another thread, because this is exactly what i feared would happen.

Yep. The football authorities stepping over a pound to pick up a penny it seems.

If everything shuts down in football again, they only have themselves to blame.

Not really. In the past those people would still be trying to go on with their lives, they just weren’t tested unless they rocked up to hospital coughing up a lung whereas now they are tested.

also I read that the positivity rate has risen proportionally compared to the rate back at peak 1 wave.

therefore parroting trump is not really accurate

These pointless internationals need to be scrapped, particularly friendlies at this point in time. The nations league shite can do one too

That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. In March we were only picking up people with symptoms. Now that we are testing, asymptomatics are included in the case counts.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Trump so not sure why he's being brought into this. It's statistics 101.

Sorry I misconstrued your post entirely. I’ve read a lot of stupid posts on social media saying that the numbers are going up only because more tests are being done like Donald said early on don’t test and it will go away

Nice of the virus to wait until he's in Italy before it becomes transmittable.
