I mean the Scottish Pirlo, Charlie Adam gave Blackpool a season in the PL after they were promoted. If you think Brentford don't pay well, Blackpool were paying their players with vouchers for fish and chips back then. Evidently Adam was the highest paid.
Brilliant!

Another great display - the guy looks really talented.

He'd be a much better option for us than Mata/Lingard right now.

He'd make the step up to a prem league easily

He’s clearly very ready for the Prem. Extremely talented player with unbelievable flair but does his best work on the left/in the number 10 role - so no space for him here unless James gets loaned out. Would love him at Old Trafford.

Looks like Brentford are pricing him out of a move? Understandable on their part as he's clearly their best player, but he's 25 and needs to move next season the latest as you'd feel it would be a little too late for him after that. (Not saying 27 is old, but his potential suitors would hardly want to gamble on an untested 27 year old as their #10).

Yes. Seems he can play, left, right and central?
Good squad option. Has some flare to him, doesn't he?

Was absolutely terrible in the play-off final, and plays on the left, two reasons this transfer would be a no for me.

A journo is going to fabricate a link now.

..United are also keeping tabs on a un-named wide player.

He didn't have the best end to the season in general from what I saw.

He may primarily play on the left but that said, what do we have in that position bar Rashford? Especially if we are looking to move on James.

I'm not really arguing for or against, just a thought.

Pretty much this. He could be great for someone in the Prem but he's best in a free role coming in from the left - so it's almost like having another number 10, which we have in abundance now.

I'm very surprised he's still at Brentford. I would've thought he'd be first out the door after the play-off final loss.

You'd think for him to excel and really get to grips with that level of football he'd need to be playing week in week out

Close to a West Ham move. I was honestly baffled as to why we or any other club weren't making a move for him. Really excited to see him in the Prem.

So am I but the Chelsea links always seemed like rubbish. He's a really fun player to watch but not top level material imo.

A West Ham midfield with Bowen, Benrahma, Rice and Soucek will be very decent.

If they could upgrade Antonio as well, you could see Moyes getting top half of the table.

Love how they crop out the miss control right before the turn, was still a great goal but it's a prime example why every player looks like Zidane in their clips.

Sometimes you can’t rush the step up. He’s better going there than Chelsea for instance to hold bench. Mahrez type progression would be better for him.

:D

If Wet Spam pay up he maybe close but there is history here we don't like the way they do business - messed about big time when they were interested in Scott Hogan. They called his agent night before a game to say they were interested and he then refused to play the following day, they follow up their interest with a BS lowball offer and in the end Hogan joined Villa for a proper fee.

I'd expect some sort of media leaks/Twitter bollo like the following:
  • Brentford blocking Benrahama's dream move.
  • Brentford refuse to agree to reasonable valuation for Said
  • West Ham angry as they increase offer 4 times and still Brentford refuse to let Benrahma leave
  • FREE BENRAHMA!!
In the end it will turn out that Wet Spam actually bid £10m for him and didn't even get a response.

Price for him is set a deal approaching £30m and he is gone end of.

Watkins seems to be doing fine stepping up to the Premier League. Actually looks like a classy player. We spent money on James with just his speed as his talent, while this guy has most everything to make himself a success. For the reported fee West Ham are trying to sign him for, it would have been a worthwhile gamble. We have spent an awful lot of money on national and international players, but look how some of them have turned up.

My point was that Chelsea has signed some good players by that point and were well stocked in his position. The links also seemed nonsensical. He definitely deserves a chance in the PL and he's a player I really like. But he's better going to a team like West Ham where he'll consistently play. Having watched him quite a bit, I don't see him as a top four player, yet anyway. He's better than James but that transfer still baffles me.

Would be a great signing for them. Moyes signings have been good so far, dare I say something of a cultural reboot

Seems like the sort of player we will want to sign for 2-3 times the amount in a year's time.
Not really.. He is 25.. being skilful and standing out in the championship isnt that uncommon.. he isnt going to any top club.

So how good is this guy? Only really heard of him through this thread and haven't watched much outside of YT highlights. Seems to be a right footed winger who prefers to play on the left? Looks a bit like Hazard (pre weight gain Madrid Hazard) in the way he moves with the ball.

I thought West Ham paid 5m more for him but nonetheless terrific player. He does remind me of Hazard with his trickery and goals but I think he'll have a similar influence as Grealish. At the age of 25, I thought he should have moved to a top 6 club instead.

"You've signed loads of injury prone players in the past so trying to avoid doing so again is ridiculous!"

Thanks for that. Looks a really exciting footballer. Obviously it’s hard to tell how that’ll translate to the EPL but there’s quite a few who have done well tbf.

West Ham's seventh transfer window signing... 7th. Are you even alive, Ed Woodward?
