$$$ and lots of rupees too
The incessant brand and product placement that happens within a game wears very thin after a while.

They should just double up the games. 1 game per week on weekdays is a pisstake
I guess they decided to string it out with no international calendar pressure but I'm finding it a chore to watch now.

Each of the bloody games run too long.
The matches normally start two and a half hours before I finish working and they just about manage to start the 2nd innings by the time I finish. How is that even possible when you have at least 8 overs of spin every innings .

It's because of the CEAT strategic time outs. Need to get enough of them in per game

the entire concept is simply a huge money making scheme and nothing else. High octane cricket is simply the honey to attract the eyeballs.

Every sporting league is a money making scheme by that logic
Ipl the brand is here to stay. I would even go on to say the level of cricket in the IPL is nothing less than what we see in other international tournaments . I would anyday prefer to have a IPL tournament than a meaningless India srilanka series or some other meaning less international series. In fact the success of IPL has allowed other nation to start similar t20 leagues.

Why the hell would they play on afternoons in weekdays.
They would have to if they decide to increase to 10 teams. I think if not wrong they used to play afternoon matches in weekdays too.

Only remember it being occasional, don't think it was ever a regular thing. With the current no. of teams one game every weekday is perfect. Ideal time to start after you get back from work and want some to kill the evening time.

Well done RCB for tinkering with a formula that was working well for the most part.

Kohli looks out of sorts in this tournament. Hopefully he picks his form by the Australian series.

Yep. I don't think without the success of IPL we would have seen the birth of our regional Caribbean Premier League, and I fecking love the CPL.

Padikkals dreadful innings comes to an end. Must be one of the worst of all time considering the score they're chasing and he's consumed almost a 1/3 of innings

So Kohli and Paddikal consumed 69/120 balls in this innings and only knocked off 78/177 required runs.

Match winning partnership for RR. What's worse is Jofra Archers still got 2 overs to bowl

Another match being gifted by RCB. Returning the favours they were given earlier in the tournament.

Padikal was batting alongside his captain Kohli so presumably he was instructed or allowed to bat this way?

also maybe it’s the pitch,
lack of form or being able unable to get into the zone. Or just lack of ability as he is still just 19 or 20. Players aren’t robots.

Why was Dube replaced by Gurkeerat? The former was at least a good bet to hit long.

This is a masterclass in terrible bowling. medium pace length balls begging to be hit.

Smith not bowling archer must be a joke.
Cost them the match. Smith has been disastrous as a player and captain this year. Has cost RR a final 4 place, as they had a good enough team to get there.

that’s basically confirmation of Rajasthan out of the tournament :(

Just on talent, de villiers is the GOAT limited overs player imo.

Isn't he really really good at a number of things? Swimming, sprints, badminton.. I'm sure there was more. The guy is just incredible. Kept wickets today as well.

Huge win for RCB. Basically one or max 2 more wins and they are in the playoffs. The fight for top 2 has gotten tasty now.

Rajasthan did a punjab today. Smith's captaincy has been poor and any team still giving Unadkat chance don't deserve to win anyways. They and Punjab are probably done now.

For all his talent and his incredible performances in IPL over the years , he definitely deserves to win the competition atleast once. This could be the year.

He said that’s untrue in an interview.

I remember him taking down a prime Steyn a while back in IPL. I don't think there's a bowler in the world that can stop him when he's in. A shame he doesn't have more to show for his absurd talent (the numbers are great but he deserves to have an ICC tournament trophy on his record). South Africa need to get him back into the T20 team at the very least.

Cummins has been the biggest disappointment this season. 15 crore down the drain.
That was a crazy amount to pay for him anyway. He is not a top 5 bowler in ODI/T20 like Starc, Bumrah or Rabada. Even 1M USD would have been too much for him.

That ground has a much shorter boundary on one side. If Unadkat bowls the last over he would have to defend the much shorter leg side boundary against ABD who favours that region. Even Smith said that was the key reason why he went with him in 19th and Archer 20th. Though of course, ABD being ABD, hit 3 sixes on on-side anyway despite longer boundaries.

It is amazing how much worse Delhi's batting order looks without Pant. If Stoinos was not in form, we would be in dire straits.

Chahar dropping catch to get Dhawan out may cost CSK their place in play offs.

Might sound harsh on rahane but he doesn't add anything to this lineup. When you go from pant to rahane in t20s you automatically become weaker.
