Basically this, they will both be class let’s be honest.
Absolutely.

I'll be sticking with the Xbox because when I had a PS4 I rarely turned it on, my friends game on PC or Xbox, and I've got GamePass Ultimate for another two years as well as an extensive digital catalogue in the ecosystem. I'd say that I'll get a PS5 in the future, but I probably won't because I barely have enough time to play the games I want to on Xbox. That said Demon's souls does look awesome.

For all the comical hyperbole of this thread, I think a lot of others are in a similar boat, we generally value comfort and convenience.

No, but nor does gamepass unless you subscribe to gamepass ultimate as far as I’m aware.
I assumed you were talking about Ultimate, as the standard game pass is still cheaper than PS Now. Invalidating your first statement.

PS Now is really good if you've been sleeping under a rock for the past 4 years and not played any new games...

In fairness to Sony though, it's still a decent offering. Just not quite in the same ballpark as Game Pass.

12 months Gamepass = £95.88
12 months Now = £49.99
That's a tied-in 12 month upfront payment. What is the monthly cost?

If you are going by bulk upfront discounts, then Gamepass Ultimate is 39.99 for 12 months.

Do I need an Xbox to play Halo 3?
You keep referencing the ability to play games on PC as a negative, how come? That one could buy an Xbox, then take and cross play compatible titles in their library to PC at a later date if they get one, to me seems a positive thing?

Great post
I only wonder because my friend built a really good gaming rig, alongside his Xbox and PS4, then hit financial difficulties and had to sell his consoles to get by. He kept the PC and was able to continue gaming with us using the Xbox services on there and cross play games, and we've had a whale of a time on Sea of Thieves, Gears 5 and such. Me, my PC is too old to run those particular games well, but I can fire up Age of Empires or whatever using my GP ultimate sub, and when we're playing new stuff I simply use my console. It's really struck home how useful that choice in platform is.

I'm still torn on which one to buy. To be honest, I'm really only going to be buying FIFA every so often (the shame I know!) and probably GTA VI if it comes out before I'm dead. Other than that, I'd prefer to just play what's free* (with a monthly subscription of course). Which console is better for this?

If you game with friends, then whichever platform they are on. If not, I'm not sure it'll make a massive difference, might be worth looking into the costs of online gaming and what is included in them.

Xbox is the clear winner for you. I’m not even joking. Current GTA is on Game Pass, I’m guessing you’d also like rdr2, which is also on there. There’s also EA Play about to be included with Game Pass, which doesn’t have the latest fifa on it, but I think does allow you to buy it for cheaper, and allows access to other EA sports games.

But if any mates have fifa/gta and you want to play them online then get what console they have.

Check out the PS Now and Gamepass games on offer and see which you prefer. Both can be gotten cheap if you buy 12 months up front.

Also if you get PS5 you’ll get the PS+ Collection which gives you 18 free games

  • Battlefield 1
  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • God of War
  • Infamous Second Son
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 5
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
  • Until Dawn

Thanks for the replies, are the mainstream games (FIFA, GTA, COD etc.) still not crossplay?

I can only speak for PC but I've been playing a ton of warzone with my pc mate. The issue will be communication I guess. In game chat is pretty poor.

How can I possibly find out when a new stock of pre-order will be available? Is it just checking google fours times a day and see if I catch it when it's live?

Unfortunately they took GTA V off game pass back in May. Annoying as I still haven't played it (same with DMC V)

Keep this quiet though as we don't need Elvis using it for fuel.

Ahhh. That’s a shame. Although I still never finished it!

It was on sale for a £5er for a decent amount of time.

Has anyone done a test of gameplay improvement at 120 fps on console shooters with autoaim, be intrigued to see what the competitive advantage is like.

I know its been proven that better frame rate and higher refresh rate with a mouse at certain levels increases your advantage.

FIFA 21 not having cross platform and/or cross play is shocking.

I've not touched xbox since 360 so I'm not really aware of how good gamepass has been but looking at the list of games on it right now it's not exactly great?

I'm guessing new games go on there and get removed after a certain amount of time?
