It’s dull, but this system really suits us. Almost think we should play it all the time in the PL. Much more defensively secure, and we’ve got enough going forward to get a couple of goals most games.
Last time we did that people were chanting attack at OT.

Makes such a difference having a wing back.
    Axel looking solid.
This formation without Pogba suits us.

It´s been a solid 1st half without any big blunders from the team. Telles set pieces are superb. Martial needs to do better though as he looked meh so far. He can do better than this. Fernandes never hides and that is a good quality to have and something we have been missing for a long time.

PSG keep attacking from our strongest side in defence is weird as a tactical decision. PSG seems to lack someone in the striker position to cause some trouble for our defenders and it helps our defence . May they keep doing this in the second half.

So let me know, what was the pattern of play of Tuchel during this first half? Because I hear we have none and Ole is a nobody but I would love to hear what Tuchel's one is... kidding. Ole has done a fantastic mental preparation for this team today and it shows up. No hurry, no rush, our players are calm and confident. We will hurt them big time because our bench as Pogba and VdB, even Mata or the young dude Pellistri. It's not a cheap bench.

Mbappe turbo pace is the only threat they have.
But it’s crazy dangerous and I’m not convinced we have the solution

I think Telles will be a very good player for us, a couple of loose passes here and there but he is really aggressive with just the right level of shithousery we need.

Keep it simple, keep it tight and wait for opportunities. PSG is hyped, they themselves will provide us openings. Patience.

    Give peas a chance.
Axel has been fantastic so far. His positioning and his work off the ball has meant it might be easy to overlook his contribution, but he's bossed Mbappe so far.

The game plan has worked really well tonight. Credit to Ole for making it work, cos the last time we played like this in the FA Cup semi we were dire. I like how Tuanzebe's looking.

Also by the way, Neymar has been mostly garbage. Guy is way too consumed in his individual qualities that he simply wants to do nothing bar getting past 3-4 players before putting it in himself. Each time he got the ball, he goes for the dribbling through multiple players. He destroyed multiple PSG attacks.
You get the feeling that when in possession, he cares more about nutmegging an than whether or not his actions actually are productive to the team in any way. Pogba suffers from a similar syndrome, the YouTube compilation fallacy.

PSG midfield lack creativity. They couldn't play through tactic. Through the middle. They don't have a target so even they worked a way through the flanks, mist of the time, there is not option to cross.

If we can somehow get second goal, I think we can win this game.
I thought PSG were a highly coached patterns of play kind of team

    Good professional performance.

PE teacher with no tactical knowledge has got his tactics spot on once again.

Might need another goal but so far so good.

Dare I say it we look a much better team minus Pogba.

Would take McTominay off for Matic midway through the second half, he's a second yellow waiting to happen.

Replace one of McT or Fred with VdB, and we'll look a lot sharper in attack without sacrificing too much solidity in the middle IMO.

Not weird, just a sign of disrespect. They are telling us we s*** and they can beat us. Well it turns out AWB is really good and Scott is doing a good job in his RCB role so no, they are not going down this road. To be honest, I don't think this is Tuchel's. I think the players a la Neymar and Mbappe were kind of wondering "How good can that AWB dude be? He plays for a s***** team, let us show him". I am sure Tuchel is going crazy right now. However, they made a mistake. We may not be at our best, but we are no more a s***** team with Ole in charge.

I hate to shovel dirt on Pogba, but we really do look a much better side without him...at least the Pogba of late.

Exactly...watching the Spurs highlights on the pregame were down right pathetic. Happy we have energy tonight, I just wish Pogba would work hard for United.
I feel relieved when pogba is not playing and am very nervous what will happen if he gets on today

He's struggled with Neymar's quality, but many players would. His determination and willingness to get stuck in are worth the risk, and we need players with heart as well as quality tonight, although he's got to watch it now he's on a yellow.

I wouldn't bring Pogba on at this stage, unless Scott looks as if he's heading for a second yellow. It's not as if Pogba puts in a shift defensively.
Yep exactly, this is the type of game you need the workhorse type of player.

    We're fecking great.

Masterclass of a half. Don't remember the last time I was so pleased about us in a game like this.

We're so stable, so balanced, so organized defensively, and still dangerous on the ball whenever we push forward.

Well deserved lead for me. Even before the goal when we didn't attack much we were very stable and the game was even.

De Gea is having a fantastic game and even his kicks are good today. Pretty much everyone has put a great performance.

But Bruno stands out really. Mind blowing how he's everywhere on the pitch, even backtracking and defending close to our goal in some moments. I'm sorry but this has to be said: Pogba needs to take a hard look at Bruno to realize what he's missing in football. Our midfield looks so much more stable and balanced without him, I'm sorry again.

Maybe the only one whom I think was a little bit disappointing was Telles. Not the best debut so far to be honest but hopefully he improves in second half.

Put on another 45 minutes and this match is ours.
Best organization we've had yet. But I'm really liking Telles, because he allows Shaw to do what Shaw does best without having to jam up on the left line or into the corner. Every player on the pitch is trying to show that he belongs in the Champions League.

    I'm loving it!
