Back in the day, I played Rugby at an amateur level. ‘Trained’ twice a week and the occasional night time run. 6’2” and around 14st 10lb . I could eat what I wanted, as much as I wanted and drink Guinness without putting weight on. All because I had a very good metabolism. Muscle also weighs more than fat as it’s denser. Now, at 68, I weigh 15st, watch what I eat, walk a lot and have an Irish Whiskey at night.
The point is, all people are different. Luke Shaw will always be that body shape whatever he does, perhaps he could lose some fat. Steve Bruce is a fatty now but Keano isn’t, two different types of human.
Try proper whisky.

The impact on the squad from the presence of a consumate professional like him will be everlasting. Greenwood gets to experience first hand the work rate required to get to the top.

I don't imagine I was the only United fan who got chills when I saw Cavani warming up for his debut v Chelsea. Signing an older player always comes with mixed emotions, and some of the stories about how he thought about retiring and that's been available on a free for awhile didn't sit well with me. Then I see his fitness videos and read about how he likes to have lunch with the staff, and always makes time to talk to everyone from the canteen people to the cleaners, and I'm thinking "nice guy", but can he still play at the top level? It took watching him warm up then jog on to the pitch to realise we've signed a star here. He doesn't strike me as someone who's just come for a paycheck either, I'm seeing goals in his future. That and the fact that Rashford, Greenwood and co get to see him in training everyday, and I'm now buzzing that we've got him in the squad

Have to admit seeing him come on was a nice moment!

He was unlucky not to score. He'll be pumped up and in a game of few chances against Chelsea, he was very unlucky. I think he'll do well for us but there's a long way to go

I hope he can get a goal in the next 2 or 3 games because if he doesn't the media and social media talk of flop will start.

That chip was quality, too bad it was disallowed. I would have liked him to take the pen instead of martial.

Martial needed the goal more than him, so I'm happy he took the penalty.

I'm happy with how he's looked so far though, think he'll chip in with a few goals for sure eventually.

I've never been so conflicted over a penalty. My thought process jumped between...

"Let Martial score and gain some confidence."

"Let Cavani score his first goal."

"Let Rashford get a hat-trick."

"Be a prick and tell them all to step away, Bruno!"

Agreed. Don't think he needs the confidence boost as much as Tony - which may also be why Ole left him on even when he put Eddy came on. Which ended up being a good call too. Even so, its clear he brings something up top we've been missing for years now. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he outscores Tony over the entire season.

So frustrating he strayed offside, thought he was scoring his first goal then and would have rounded it off perfectly

Great option from the bench, unlucky he just strayed offside for the goal. He's done well in the 2 games he's played when he came off the bench. I'm sure he will get his chances soon to start.

Telles to Cavani.............. you know the rest! :)

Agreed, Bruno took ages to release the ball.
Cavani made the move very early, and looking at videos of him is what he does, he moves very early, so Pogba, Bruno, Rashford etc will have to learn to get the ball in quick to him as he will already be on the move.
I am genuinely excited to see him get on the pitch, and would love to see him start the game against Arsenal.

I can see him starting the last two group games if we have already qualified and possibly the game against Istanbul at home as well but can see us going with Mason & Marcus from the start on Sunday

Two sub appearances and two good efforts on goal is how I see it. The lad hasn't played for quite a while but encouraging signs. I think the most important aspect of this transfer will be him in conjunction with Telles when playing against the low block. Hell maybe he'll be able to teach out front 3 a thing or two about positioning in the box for crosses, which would be worth the cost of the contract alone in the long term. I see a vital senior figure in an attack where the oldest player is 24.

Yeah my gut feeling is Telles may take a while to get match fit again so expect this partnership to pick up around the end of champions league group stages

I was skeptical we'd be getting anything other than a player who would struggle to find his form. I like what I have seen from him so far. His movement is high quality and he's absolutely got things our other strikers don't have and so will create different problems for the opposition and make us less predictable. You'd also back him to take a lot of half chances and get goals from situations that he's no right to score from - at least I hope so!

Yep. His movement is extremely sharp and always has been. They'll adapt to his movement soon enough

Watching Bale last night, the Cavani elephant in the room is can start a game and can his fitness survive the first hour of a Premier League game?

The older posters care about number 7, as it was associated with players such as Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, George Best, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Andrei Kanchelskis (until Cantona nicked it). Legends who we grew up with. The number was iconic to us

The younger posters associate it with shite like Michael Owen, Depay, Valencia, Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez. So I can see why they don't give a feck.
Totally agree. I started following united after watching Cantona strutting around old trafford with his collars up donning number 7 shirt. So for me United, number 7 and greatness are synonymous with each other.

He looked far sharper than Falcao at the same stage. I think he's gonna start banging them in soon
Falcao had torn his ACL in January 2014, both players were in totally different contexts. Falcao admitted later that he should have been more patient and stay at Monaco until he had fully recovered.

Telles was asymptomatic, so pretty sure he’ll be fine. Don’t need to recover if you have no symptoms, just isolate.

No team training for 10 days still sets him back
