Congratulations on a well-deserved recognition. But still many are trolling him.
Anybody who has a problem with someone getting recognition for helping deprived children is genuinely not worth the attention.

He is still a kick and rush footballer, just see for England no one is putting him in their England first 11 anymore. There are better players emerging and am afraid he will keep falling down the pecking order.

He is a decent human being that's not questionable. His charitable activities must not guarantee him an automatic place in the team though. At the moment he is not playing at a level required for the team to win any matches.

He needs to improve his football.

Not trying to rain on his parade. He has done well for the wider community. That's commendable.
He is a very good footballer, yes he has ups and downs. But no one on the left side in the england side is better than him on his day.

I've read through two pages back, seeing people try talking him down is a shame, Yes he's not been at his best since coming back from his 1st major injury, but i thought in our last two games he's been lively and looked a lot hungrier compared to post lock down...

I'm proud to say he's one of us, and should be our next Captain, I think that responsibility would help improve his game too. CONGRATULATIONS RASHY10 you're the real super hero!

Scores the day after getting his MBE. Love the lad. Again, my favourite player.

Get in there Rashy. No more fitting scorer on a day like this.

Now he's got his gong it's time he focussed fully on his football and forgets all the off-field stuff.

Perhaps then his performances will improve.
I've never understood opinions like this. He's not skipping training. What do you think he should be doing in his free time? Practicing headers in his garden? Meditating about penalties in his lounge? Or is it that when he's in a match he's spending all his time thinking about school dinners?

I'm sure spending his time doing something productive will improve his maturity and football much more than playing video games all day like the rest of the players his age.

Also quite a harsh implication that he's not actually interested and is just doing it for recognition.

It will serve everyone well to remember that football and community service are more intertwined than most people believe them to be.

It takes a whole person to be a better football player. Sir Alex certainly lived by those ethos.

Imagine seeing Rashford (or anybody) doing work to help with child food poverty and the main thought being "Get on with the football instead", boggles the mind :houllier:

I admire this lad as a football player and also good human being so much. He is brilliant. To think he’s been the country’s best politician over this Covid period and has put in decent, if inconsistent, footballing performances off the back of a nasty injury while doing so. My username is dedicated to this boy for a reason. What a guy.

On a side note though, to people criticising him for his off-the-field stuff where he’s literally feeding starving children, you really ought to take a look at yourself.

Sir Marcus Rashford somewhere down the line.
I'm surprised he ONLY got an MBE. Captain Tom (bless him), did regular walks to get a knighthood whereas Rashford had a much tougher battle on his hand especially with flatulant politicians who begrudlingly reversed their decision to support his cause.

What's needed now is a public demonstration. Get a few thousand people together to march on Whitehall.

So after the govt refused to extend the free meal scheme, Rashford with the help of local business all over UK is providing free meals for children. Some local restaurants who is also hit hardest by the pandemic are giving out free meals. Marcus compiles and tweet these business on his twitter feed so everyone could see.
I don't think I've ever felt this proud of a footballer. So proud of him playing for my club

I hope you all remember this when it comes time to vote again. Absolutely disgraceful that a 22 year old footballer is having to do his best to make sure kids get fed while the Tories close businesses, put their parents out of work and then blame them for not looking after their kids.

He really is a magnificent young man and an absolute credit to his mum and his family. His timeline this morning is astonishing and he continues to show the w****** in Whitehall what humanity is. They should be fecking ashamed of themselves.

Keep going Marcus, you are one in a million and we are all behind you. Massive credit to the business and councils who have stepped up too.

The thing he is doing so fecking well is holding his head high and refusing to get drawn into politics. He’s got laser like focus on his cause and rather than getting frustrated and calling these people out for the cretins they are, he’s just highlighting and making an example of their own behaviour with better behaviour and better examples himself. Walking the walk.

I don't understand why they'd spend an absolute gargantuan amount on giving people half price McDonald's and Nando's but not give children free school meals over Christmas. What planet are these cretins on?

A different, more sheltered one than the rest of us.

You can just tell the type of people they are when they blame the parents, like it's that simple.

I just checked his Twitter timeline, it's amazing. What a guy. He's just a wonderful human being and been a credit to his cause this year (well even prior to that, but especially this year).

Somebody has replied to one his tweets this morning asking why he isn't putting an end to grooming gangs instead I kid you not. Honest to god I'm so worried for this country. We share the place with a load of numbskulls don't we?

Since when he did he become law enforcement should be the reply to that tweet. He is an inspiration not only to footballers and sports but also to humanity. It is an absolute disgrace that the government refused to help children in need.
Forget about the MBE, he deserves a knighthood much more than those spivs who got it for the cash for knighthood.

Incredible seeing a 22 y/o footballer doing more for disadvantaged children than the sitting government.

Of course he'll get demonized and attacked for making them look bad but there are far more decent people who support him than partisan cretins with a myopical view of society.

You know you're doing right when you get a consensus on Football Twitter singing your praises irregardless of club allegiances given how nasty and tribalistic things normally are on there

The most telling thing about all of this for me isn't the politicians, but the people. There are actual citizens of the UK that are upset that Rashford is doing this, to keep children fed. What sort of people could be upset about that?

Feckin disgrace. I resent social media for giving them a platform to spew their illiterate nonsense.

I agree with you that it is disgusting to see them spewing this nonsense, but on the other hand, for me at least, social media has lifted the curtain on these sort of people. If social media didn't exist, and you told me that there were people who were angry that a footballer was the driving force behind an initiative to feed children in need, there's no way I would believe it, as it just seems incredulous that our fellow humans can be so cruel.

Social media has shown us that we haven't come as far, as a society on the whole, as we think we have.

It's deplorable really but unfortunately not all too surprising.

It's the state of the hyper polarized world we currently live in in 2020 where public arguments and discussions that are in good faith have become harder and harder to come by.

You all seeing his twitter? Even though the Government declined his initiative he's managed to get a lot of businesses to stand with him. He's retweeting all those that offer free meals. This guy is incredible.

That’s true. I just find it infuriating that they can force their disgraceful opinions on others.

Probably never lifted a finger to help somebody other than themselves and try to shoot down young Marcus for all the good he’s doing, he’s doing more good than the politicians that we vote for.
