So you would have brought on someone else than the three we did? The subs were fine to me, the issue was starting James and Mata when one should never be in any starting XI and the other is not suited for a game like this. As a result we also end up with Rashford getting on the end of our best chances when he’s probably our 4th or 5th best finisher at the club.

This game was crying out for having Telles on the left to provide a wide threat and allowing Rashford to play more inside. The lack of threat from our fullbacks is evident in this game when Chelsea can just defend compactly and is daring Shaw and AWB to do something
Cavani and Pogba shouldn't have come on when they did and Mata shouldn't have come off... So yes.

Cowardly approach from both managers. Still should have nicked it in the end after improving in the 2nd half.

Objectively offensively dominant. Any other day barring a world class performance from their keeper it’s a win.
Well keepers are there for a reason. If Mendy is to be praised for his performance then objectively Rashford was inferior to him. It was not an awkward result, a draw was quite a fair outcome, with Chelsea being denied a stone wall penalty. 9 times out of 10 that peno is given and we are fooked.

Chelsea came with a plan and executed it well so fair play to them, I thought we defended well when we had to so that’s a positive and we had enough chances/half-chances to have won the game.

Ole needs to try and get VdB into games like these instead of James who didn’t offer anything again, looked like we were playing with 10 men until he went off. Hopefully with Cavani & Greenwood fit now and Martial soon to be back I doubt we’ll see James in the match day squad much.

Win our game in hand and we’ll be a max 3 points behind Liverpool and only 2/1 behind any of Arsenal, City, Spurs, Leicester so not the end of the world after what will have been a tough opening set of fixtures.
Our next few are not easy.

I know a draw against Chelsea is never the end of the world but that for me was a poor poor watch . The game was there for the taking if we had abit more energy around the pitch.
On a side note I've no idea what VDB has to do to get a game

I am 100% give Ole a chance but after 5 games we are touching relegation. I don't think we'll stay there, but maybe get into Europa League once again.

TBF these are a tough run of games so I'm happy to see where things go from here
Hahaha ok. Maybe Villa and Leeds will also finish in the top 3

Are you ok?
Exactly. Fred gets too much hate and is a very solid DMF.

Ole is still smiling and saying about European games taking a toll after the beginning of the season.

Wel Ole, it doesn’t get any easier and you have £40m sitting on the bench that you could rotate and instead you choose two players who never performed that well last season.

Now he’s blaming no crowd noise/pressure.

Boring game, I think a draw is a correct result, both teams didn't want to loose. I think a lot of fans are happy with the game of BF in my opinion he will have for his doing very good passing % this game. But I didn't, I think he didn't take a lot of risks and so we didn't create enough chances to put one behind Chelsea. To be positive the 0 is of the scoreboard in home games this season and De Gea kept a clean sheet.

Where the grass is greener.
To be fair that game isn't the slow snoozefest with a full stadium. Today it was painfully evident what an atmosphere sucker this current situation is.

Starting line up: Would have gone with Cavani or Greenwood instead of James, otherwise fine.

Tactics: could've been a bit more adventurous

Performance: first half really poor, 2nd half ok.

Overall lacking intensity, but not worth crying about. We never looked like losing.

Really disappointed with Shaw. I thought he was showing some form.
He was ponderous and often slowed the play down.
Telles should start the next game. Curious that he wasn't on the bench.
He just offers nothing going forward, nothing at all.

When neither your full backs or wingers can get down the line and put in a decent cross you are going to struggle. Look at pool and amount of goals they get from wide areas.

Strange team selection, strange tactics and dull game. Lampard wanted a draw and a clean sheet. I can probably see them getting another ten 0-0s at this rate. I'm not sure why James started given Telles, Rashford, Bruno, Pogba or Mata could have operated in his position and produced better. I think the Fred and Mctominay starting is negative, Ole needs to figure out how to get Bruno and Pogba/VDB in the team. Lots to do, our first clean sheet in the league, still cannot win at home, we have played 3 out of 5 there. 7 points from 15 which is 46% points rate and just won two. Ole needs to do a lot better, i know he has not been back but that team on papper should be doing a lot better.
I hate to say it. Rashford isn't much of a threat on his own. Given space, maybe. But for the most part, he is too passive when he doesn't have direct interaction with the ball and too undecisive when given the chance to take action. I feel the same way about Martial, even though he is better in possession. It's one of the reason's Greenwood will be much better than those two. When Greenwood has the ball in and around the box, he's usually crafting a quick decision, and even if the decision doesn't go as planned, he won't delay it the next time. He plans his moves ahead of time.

The reason I am saying this is because I felt our defence were very good in handling Chelsea's attack, but I don't think chelsea's defence had to worry nearly as much as ours did when being directly attacked. When Werner, Havertz or Pulisic were given a good pass from their midfield and they had the advantage in space, they were very aggressive and almost created something out of it. However, when we gave James and Rashford ( Martial and Rashford on tuesday) the same opportunties as those players ( Mbappe, Neymar, Werner, Havertz, Pulisic), our players folded, rather than the defence stopping them.

He wasn't blaming that at all, he said that the crowd creates more urgency and intensity in football and I think that's obvious for everyone to see given the weird results so far this season.

Absolutely tipping it down, no fans and two teams not wanting to lose. Those are the reasons today was 0-0.
there were some positives - Cavani looks like he’s gonna be the poacher we need and I thought the defence were good, in particular Lindelof.

You seem to forget the games against CP, BHA, and Spurs. We played against a team full of potential attacking threat that haven't had a shoot? at our goal. We dominated, their gk had a great game. Grow up. We're soon gonna go on a 20+ games unbeaten run

In regards to Rashford, he scored against PSG on his own, created two and scored one against Newcastle, drew a great save from Mendy today. This comment seems a bit knee jerk.

Ole knew we had a tough run coming up, played safe to save his job.
TBH, the tough run is nearly over...Spurs, Newcastle, PSG, Chelsea, Liepzig and Arsenal. We've actually had a really difficult start to the season fixture wise. In most scenario's, I feel we would beat all of these teams. But the lack of a preaseason and tactical adjustments due have meant that we find ourselves in a position where our team has not been settled and therefore, has led to mostly poor performances, particularly defensively. We have picked it up since the Newcastle game, but it's hard to shape a team when players haven't been fit and we're playing big games every 3 days.

Annoying they finally found a competent keeper. Kepa in goal and I think we win that easily.

De Gea had nothing to do all match.
Yeah had a feeling we wouldn't get the win when Kepa wasn't in goal

Bingo. And what a difference perhaps a certain Sancho could have made instead of starting Dan James. I think we'll be fine, but it's disappointing that we didn't strengthen more in attack.

Im sorry this is embarrassing
Solskjaer: "If that Stretford End is full, we might get some help and get the ball over the line."

I am often thinking about how this situation affects the players. I am pretty sure that some of them are playing better without the fans, but it could be less motivating for others.

As the fans are usually on Daniel James back you would think an empty OT would benefit him.

There was no mention of the fans when we won our last 2 games. Its just desperate stuff tbh.

Players fist pumped, laughing, and hugging each other after a Draw at home game against rival.

And manager looked happy with the home Draw also.

Am I the only one that kinda pissed off seeing this?
Yeah that doesn't send out the right approach to people watching at home

Most boring game I've seen in quite a while
it was fine with the Star power ..at least you know something might happen at any moment with Cavani and Pogba..while at some point Daniel James and his pace ran head first into 3 guys in the second half..I was just not sure what he was thinking.

Disappointing game, Chelsea were clearly there for the taking as the game developed. Not because we were great, but their combinations just weren’t there and we should have pushed them further back. Two defensive units and teams going for a draw, we should never do that at home. This is not City or Liverpool on top form, this is Chelsea with a poor defensive record. Ok, they have scored a lot of goals too - obviously it was part of the gameplan. Absolute shit game and a waste of two hours, at least we didn’t lose tonight.

We haven’t won at home yet, we’re 15th in the league after five games... this isn’t Manchester United. We should charge teams and take control, we should have better patterns with such good players. We need to do better, fast!

Honestly happy with that, Chelsea are a top 4 rival and we were clearly the better team. Gutted we couldn`t get the winner at the end there but Mendy was unfortunately pretty good.

Our back 4 was good again, Chelsea are really strong in attack and we didn`t allow them much. Great to see Lindelöf and Maguire getting back to form after a dreadful start to the season.

James is completely lost and can barely get the basics right atm. With players like Pogba, Donny, Greenwood in the squad it is a bit of a headscratcher that he gets so many minutes.
