Again I don't think his technical ability is the problem. He rarely loses the ball because of heavy touch like some players.

He just runs with his head down, into whatever is in front of him.

It's admirable, ole's faith in him, but he's doing very little to pay it back at the moment. If he carries on like this he'll be a Leeds in Jan.

I think like a few others have mentioned here, no hard feelings, James seems a nice lad but absolutely no where near the quality we should aspire to and has no right being in that team, horrendous choice again by Ole to start him never mind against a low block, he bounced of James today like a bouncy ball, his decision making is so poor in the final third and I am hardly claiming we have a world class starting 11 but he stands out like a sore thumb in that team,

I'd honestly rather have Andreas Periera or Lingard in that team than James i rate him that low, he was a low cost gamble in the grand scheme of things, cut our losses and get rid.

Why do people keep talking about Lingard? There’s no need to play either ffs.

Either play Telles on the left with Rashford up front. Or even better play Rashford on the right and Cavani up top with Telles left. And that’s only for couple of weeks since Martial is back after that anyway. I’d even prefer Fernandes on the left wing with Pogba at 10, over James.

There’s no reason James or Lingard should be starting important games for us unless we’re having the mother of all injury crises.

I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt but I'm now convinced he's shit. To keep playing him is utter lunacy from Ole.

Needs to leave in January and never play for us again. He’s shockingly bad. Brings nothing positive to the team.

We need Martial back and Cavani fit, and his minutes will evaporate. We don't have too many available options right now.

He's good at getting selected when playing shit. Must be class in training, running around like Forrest Gump. Fecking clueless

No idea why we bought him. He may as well not played today. Offered no threat and can’t beat a player 1 on 1. That should be his last game for a long long time. For now I want to see Rashy on the left, Cavani as striker and Greenwood on the right. Martial can swap back in after his suspension

I said this before but Bruno didnt want to pass to him and he hesitated before he does.

Some people said they saw this with Shaw too.

Considering Bruno seems to have a respectable but loud voice at times - I hope he talks about this to Ole, how he and some team mates dont feel comfortable with James.

Also I was shocked we went for him over David Brooks from Bournemouth as a young welsh player. Giggs really edged us up.

He's only being used as a minute consumer, so in april we can still use our best team in this shorter and higher intensity season. Will probably be sold in jan or next summer.

Honestly starting to feel for him now a little bit thinking about it. Kid has no business playing at such level and is just shown to be out of his depth. This move to United came way too early in his career.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
Not really. A different shade of shite
 Aye, as dismal as James looked today I'm surprised that people are clamouring to see the equally awful Lingard instead.

Giggs got him here simply with the Utd connection. Giggs suggesting this week he could play more central. Wish Giggs would shut his mouth up. Sell him as hes simply not the poor quality a top club should have. We could get most of our money back selling to Leeds who were after him for example.
Now that's a horrific thought. He looks devoid of ideas even in space out wide. I dread to think how bad he'd be getting pressed in the centre instead.

Likeable lad, was worth a punt but I hope he doesn't start another league match unless he shows some stunning quantum leap in development in a cup match.

no clue what to do in the final third of the pitch, once he gets there he just puts his head down and runs into defenders hoping for a lucky deflection.
Needs sent out on loan to develop more as using the United first team as a learning curve isnt what we need right now when we have better options available on the bench.
Id have even let Telles play LW instead of James.

It's a shame. Seems like a genuinely good lad. Would get minutes at Bournemouth. Should be nowhere near a United team.

Not his fault, but he just isn't good enough for this level. Fairly certain he will be sold next summer.

Just knew in the second half when he got that one on one half chance that he would mess it up. Should have went outside instead.
It was an amazing decision. That was the absolutely perfect situation for him. One on one with a slow full back with acres of space and he cut inside. Incredibly poor decision making.

For anyone who is happy that United got Van de Beek rather than Grealish - watch that game. Imagine Grealish instead of James today.

he also runs without looking or knowing what is happing behind him. He reminds me of a relay runner stating his run without looking behind for the baton. He ran ahead of the ball and just kept running. He does this always. I wonder if that is his instructions? Just run without looking behind as to what is happening?

I've backed him.

But at the stage not sure its ability, think his confidence is shot, he just looks lost sometimes.............should have sold him to leeds, been a good deal got profit.

Even with 1000% confidence, he would still be average and limited. There isn't much to do when your ability is that poor

Dont see how our manager can deem him worthy of a starting place; in theory he’s a pacy winger but in actuality would we be worse off with DVdB playing out of position from wide & finding pockets of space?

Poor signing.

Not fit to lace Zaha's boots, the same guy who wasn't deemed good enough and was promptly returned to Palace.

Instead of giving him loads of chances in first team, maybe the time would be better spent to coach him on several stuff. His performances are as pointless as Ole's 4-2-3-1 formations. Lot of running around with no output

Dan is poor and Luke Shaw doesn’t help. When James makes a run, nobody bother ping the long ball towards him. Whatever it is, Ole has got no idea what he is doing. James is to get beyond the fullback, James isn’t someone who can dribble pass a defense, he only asset is straight line speed. Ole doesn’t know how to utilize his players that why our play is suffering.

I just want to see DvdB being tried in that position. Surely will be a lot better than this.

He should be someone you bring in late in the game against tired defenders so that he can stretch them with his pace. Otherwise, his footballing intelligence is rudimentary to say the least. He poses no threat once the defender is in front of him.

When he came in he looked eager to take players on, he also looked eager to take early shots.
He seems to have lost both of those things and so now just ends up running aimlessly at defenders before trying to run through them and losing the ball

Final straw for me was the moment in the second half where he could've gone past Azpi down the left but instead he cut in with his head down right into 3 defenders and lost the ball. Grassroot football decision making.

It was worth a bet playing him yesterday. If Chelsea had opened up, he'd have been there. They just never opened up.

How many times has he "been there" in the past year? Surely there were other teams during his United career thus far who "opened up" for him to be there.

Number of PL goals scored since August 2019: ZERO.
Number of goals scored in other compeititons: ONE (against LASK in a 5-0 drubbing).
The guy plays as a forward for Manchester United.

Just one of Ole's failures. Both signing him and then insisting on playing him in small and big games.

And let him do what? He is now unable to even use his pace in an effective way, be it starting and coming off the bench. Give him the ball, he will simply run into the most congested area and lose the ball/ crash with the opposition players. He is unable to even press properly, will just run like a headless chicken without being concerned with blocking passing lanes, cutting off runs.

I'm not saying that I don't want Grealish or he is a bad player, or whatever, but Grealish would've most likely cut inside too.
