Apparently it's not official yet. Conflicting reports coming out.

Good that wee Messi prick will be happy and pipe down now, never going anyway. Some in here are ridiculous, he would never be coming to us. United are awful in the market, we would've never pulled that deal off.

fair play to Messi if this was actually a strategy to force Bartomeu out. Feel Barca can't move forward as long as he's there.

Can he get on the blower to Bruno and help him get Woodward sacked.

Don't really get why people are so sure he'll stay if Bartomeu resigns. There's still Koeman in charge who left the Dutch national team for Barca, they can't just fire him now and according to the reports, the Koeman meeting played a decisive role in him wanting to leave. Do you think they'll fire Koeman before his first preparation match and have him on the wage bill?

Don't think that at all. If the courts decide he can leave for a free, he's gone.

He was already facing a tough battle in the next election even without Messi walking (or pretending to)

What if the next guy (or Messi) doesn't want Koeman? Its not exactly hard to imagine

I think the problems with Koeman come solely from the Suarez situation, they might keep Suarez in order for Messi to stay.

They would have to fire Koeman then. No way Suarez and Koeman are both professional enough to put their feelings aside. Koeman would not want to be forced to play a player that he doesn't want and Suarez would not be comfortable showing up to work to take orders from the guy that fired him and didn't want him back.

Yeah no idea how they’ll fix this. La Liga starts in two weeks too, there should be lots of drama in the following days as they’ll want to resolve things before the games start

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Koeman is replaced before the season even starts

At least in the reports, it seemed like there were more issues than just Suarez having to leave. A lot of that apparently revolved around cutting some freedoms of the players etc.

Also, Messi just recently complained that people falsely allege him of running the club. Imagine he stays after Bartomeu resigns, he'd probably be called the godfather of Barcelona then.

Can't imagine all that. He'll leave I'd say.

"The member of Barça's board are pressuring Bartomeu not to resign under any circumstances.
If he does, all the members would have to guarantee the club's losses with their assets.
If it happens some of them could be ruined.
Example: If Barcelona had a budget of 1 billion in 20/21 and the accumulated profits were less than 15%, 150 million, they would be obliged to guarantee the difference with their personal assets. They are waiting for a government moratorium on the covid."
Apparently that's the reason why the elections are in march.

Well Messi faxed his transfer request and Ed Wood is a big fan of fax machines so you never know!

Both Bartomeu and Messi have to go. Bartomeu as he’s ruining the club, Messi as he should take up a new challenge in the red side of Manchester :smirk:

Messi has played a blinder here if true. Either way he has to resign now and if he does he can lose all his assets! Madness. Soap opera stuff.

I do not see Messi staying unless he gets Bartu and Koeman both sacked.

And himself and his buddies in Suarez a contract extension

It was said in the summer that him and his board will have to cover the financial deficits accumulated under their helm if they resigned mid-term. So they'd rather stay on and try to make up those deficits through player sales.

Don't think they managed to raise any significant money from player sales, so is he going to pay from his own pockets for leaving now?

As long as Messi doesn't end up at City, its all good.
It would be a very pragmatic and sensible move on Barca's part to negotiate a substantial fee for Messi from City (January). Clearing those wages and securing a fee. And also look to shed Coutinho and Griezmann.

Makes almost too much sense. But they're as much an interest organisation backing a political project as they are a football club, so their decision making is head scratching at best sometimes.
