There was mass suicide when we didn't sign a central defender before the window closed. One worldie performance from Tuanzebe proved Ole was right and that such is his phenomenal talent, that we need to give him another chance to prove his fitness.

The year before there was mass suicide that we didn't sign another forward, but as soon as Greenwood emerged as a nailed on first XI player after xmas, then Ole was proven right again.

Now some are depressed that we bought Van de Beek instead of Partey. I think the reality is that Ole is probably desperate to offload Pogba but he's a 90 million investment, so he needs to play or else it drives the price down to nothing meaning no money coming in next summer for new signings. So Ole's plan is probably to slowly integrate Van de Beek with a view to giving Pogba as much game time as possible in the hope he performs, and to try and get good money for him next summer with only 1 year left on his contract. Ole probably felt that landing Van de Beek tis summer was an opportunity he simply had to take in the long term, despite not needing him urgently this season.

Ole will be looking at Galbraith, James Garner, Dylan Levitt and Scott McT and hoping one of those 4 can claim that defensive midfield/deep lying midfielder position soon as their own.

VDB wasn't Ole's first choice and neither was Cavani. He took them because that's what he was offered, those or nothing. We needed a player like Telles but I don't think he was on our list until it became apparent he was leaving. The lateness of all our transfers suggests we were poking around in the dark all summer.
His first choice was an 80m Grealish and we got VdB early. We were also linked with Telles early but price was the issue. We didn't spend money on Cavani Whether Cavani was on our list I doubt because we got him deadline but he suits everything Ole has said he wanted in a striker. Since Ole came I don't think we've spent money ona player Ole didn't want

And I agree with you on that. We do need to improve on that, something we have not achieved under Ole since he got the permanent job.

Again, I agree that this season injuries, number of games cannot be used as an excuse because he has got the squad to cover and every position.

In my view, if we are more than 12 points from the title winners, he should be sacked. Regardless of where we finish in the league.
funny enough, this I don't agree with. We were 30 odd pts off last season so what have we done compared to others to make up 18 pts?

When he took over, nobody thought he can do a job here, just to hang on until the season ends.

He proceeds to win 14 out of 19 games. Who does that?
He got to the new season, lost Martial for few months, lost Pogba for almost a year, lost Rashford most of the season, still managed to beat all the top 6. Who does that?
Managed to get 3rd even without his key players, who does that?

You're telling me this guy is a PE teacher? fecking hell.
Good points well made and difficult to argue against ... although I’m sure some will try.

Do these same people think Ole is building a squad that can win the league?
Building a squad to win the league isn't going to work when the team presently is more or less close to its peak. There's no one individual in world football who you can throw into our team and all of sudden say "look we are winning the league". The most important element about judging a team being consistent over 38 games is to assess the performances and do we perform like a team that can win the league ?

We already have one of the best squads in the league and have a 15th spot to show for it.

Remarkable seeing a PE teacher getting a result against the best tactical coach on God's green earth...

Formation on point like we've been begging for. Players in their ideal positions. Substitutions well implemented.

If he keeps it up he'll win over everyone. Results aside, if he continues making simple but correct decisions, then backing him will be the easiest thing in the world.

Fantastic management from him. Lineup and subs were absolutely spot on. Schooled them and PSG as if they were nothing teams.

After this performance, if I see the 4-2-3-1 again this season, with Pogba deep and Rashford wide, I'll lose it.

I’m one of the lads that doesn’t think he’s cut out for the job. But Jesus he got everything spot on tonight.

the starting lineup, the spark in the players, the subs and timing of them.

Probably one of our most complete performances in years. Credit where credit is due. Now don’t start feckin James the weekend..

I won’t lie I love this team and absolutely love how we play football now. I think we play world class football. At times.

So much to say about his contribution to our win tonight: all the pre match context about his quality as a coach against a supposed tactical genius.

In the end though, there is nothing else to say except that ole is emerging as one of the most exciting and sophisticated managers on the planet.
And who knows what his ceiling is.

Average first half but can be excused due to the new formation but he deffo got into the players at half time, as it was like night and day in the second half. We suddenly remembered we were Man United and they were RB Leipzig. Excellent second half, right subs at the right time too.

Two of the top things we were looking from him were rotation and earlier subs.

Jury's still out on the former but he's shown a clear change regarding the latter. No more of that three-subs-on-at-the-86th-minute.

6 pints from 2 games. We have a great chance to qualify for the next round now if we win one of our next 2 games. A job well done in the CL thus far.

True, it's very refreshing to see.

Can someone tell me why people have a problem with him sitting in his seat and not standing near the touchline?
Why is that important?

I remember reading a Fergie interview from years ago where he said one of the reasons Ole was so good at coming off the bench was because he would sit there and watch the game.. see the game and spot the weaknesses..
Its not new. That's how he does it.

Can't stress enough on the subs he's making early last few games. Today' subs changed the game for us completely.

Perfect game, tactically spot on and bossing a tough group. Brilliant.
