What a joke
I'm sorry, does a VAR check reduce the relevance of a goal scored? Were they not legitimate goals in the old world if refs did their jobs properly?

How was Matic lucky not to be sent off, the yellow he got was completely unjustified, and one could argue wasn't even a foul - players are allowed to protect the ball with their arms.

Fans are biased beings, true, but the bias is normally towards the team/player/manager you support. So when you say with better luck JN would have won or at least drawn the game, I might be wrong, it suggests to me that its what you really wanted, as no one was lucky in this game.

Why then bring luck into the picture? Unless of course you're thinking of a scenario where his team got a lot better fortune than we did? That POV from a fan is frankly astounding.
Matic should never have a yellow for that first foul but basically the 2nd one. All in all, like you said, he didn't deserve to be sent off

Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the game and am very very happy for Ole and his players, but it wasn’t really a 5-0 game. It was closer than that. Our first 2 goals had to be VAR checked and Matic was lucky not to be sent off. With better luck, JN would have won or at least drawn this game.
Yeah, if we hadn't scored those completely legitimate goals, it may have finished differently. What about our multiple penalty shouts?

Minor point and I know this is normal in the Premier League but it really irks me that the interviewer adressed him by his first name. Find that incredibly disrespectful.
How do you think he should be addressed? Mr Nagelsman? We are in 2020 not 1820

To the eye they played well in the first half, it’s easy to see how that system forces teams into mistakes. However, from an attacking point of view, they don’t seem to have any real quality. Compare their front line to ours and it’s almost embarrassing the difference in quality.

Of course I’m not saying anything new here, most people already knew about the system they play, but I was surprised how little quality they had individually.
This really is the difference - they set up well first half, were really solid but there was a complete lack of quality in their attack. Forsberg, Poulsen, Hee-Chan just aren't anywhere near the level of our forward line and once their team began to tire we brought on McT, Bruno, Rashford, Cavani and Tuanzebe whereas they had Sorloth, Kluivert and Sabitzer, there simply is no comparison. Their style almost demands they have to be leading by 70mins because they were gassed after that and then, to compound the issue, Nagelsmann kept bringing on attacking players and leaving more and more space for our attackers.

It was a great win for the team and I think this has always been the level we should be aiming for with the players at our disposal.

Either that or by his full name. I certainly wouldn't appreciate some random reporter I don't know adressing me by my first name. But yeah, I know it's different in the UK. In Germany that would be completely unacceptable.

The sympathy for another team's manager when ours gets routinely roasted for minor mistakes is quite astounding

Is this serious?

Des Kelly is old enough to be Nagelsmann's dad and he's expected to call him Mr Nagelsmann instead of his first name? Weird.

He didn't get sent off because he didn't deserve to get sent off ;)
So he could have got sent off for something he didn't deserve to get sent off for due to the first yellow not being a yellow but could have resulted in a second undeserved yellow.

Phew, glad that's cleared up

He should just stay put with Leipzig for another couple of years atleast. Too raw to just take up a big job right away.

Yes. The coach being interviewed would also never address the interviewer by his or her first name. It'd be disrespectful.
That kind of formality has died out in the UK. It would seem retrograde to address him as Mr Nanglesman here in 2020. The death of Victorian formality has not been entirely a good thing. In my grandad's era men would even visit the beach in formal clothing, sometimes in full suits! In 2020 you have all kinds of fat slobs looking to go shirtless in the streets when the temperature ventures north of 23 degrees.

I've no idea why this is relevant but it made me laugh

Nagelsmann is a very good coach. Every coach has had one or two bad results. Losing 5-0 at Man Utd does not make Nagelsmann a pretender. He set his team up quite well and the game was relatively close until Ole's second half changes. Rashford's two goals in quick succession killed RB, after that Nagelsmann's players were mentally gone. It happens.

Credit to Solskjaer for being able to manage the threat posed by Nagelsmann's game plan, then execute his own game plan to take the match away from RB Leipzig. Ole might not be as fashionable as Tuchel or Nagelsmann but, for a PE teacher, we should all admit he's not bad in the dugout. :p

Have a feeling they will beat us at their home ground because they will be chasing qualification.

By that point, we're already through to the next round.

I think we'll play for the draw, and will likely get it. Defensively, we aren't as bad as is being made out.

Can see Utd wining there next 2 games and PSG and RB will draw there games between each other.
That will see us win the group with 2 games to spare. (I think)

Yeah, I didn't expect this is where this post was going

Also I wonder how many different spellings of Nagelsmann we're going to get on this page alone.
It's 2020, the correct spelling is Nagelspersonn.

surely your no expecting him to be sent off for the 2 where he puts his hand up ? the booking he got was honestly one of the worst i have ever seen, never seen a team constantly go down holding there face, they seem the perfect fit for Lamela to be fair

I don’t think you can really point to 2 goals having to be VAR checked as a sign of it being a closer game. Attacking runs are quite consistently nearly offside. They were both timed to perfection.

Found it hilarious when you could hear him screaming non-stop in the technical area at his players right up until the second goal, and then the cameraman pans to him hiding in the dugout behind the brick wall with not a peep from him in his loud blazer. Great manager who will go on to do great things but he had a lesson in humility last night.

I think sometimes you have to accept that different countries have different habits and social rules.
