I hope so, I wanted Eidur Gudjohnsen at the time!
A bloody good player was Eidur, it was said that maybe he didn't have the extra pace needed to be a top top player, but he was hardly a slouch.

Remember him coming on for his Dad when he made his International debut, just a shame they never got to play on the pitch at the same time after Eidur got injured, and by the time he got back his old Man had retired.

Eiður is just one of those players I'll always have a soft spot for. Same with Berbatov, I know they're not the same type of player but I get the same feeling anyway, can't really explain it. Sometimes they're really good, sometimes not, but I'll always enjoy watching them.

Kinda know what you mean, they were usually one step ahead of their teammates, when it clicked it was awesome, when it didn't ....

I liked Fletcher. I remember when he had just started with the 1st team, people would joke about him being Fergie's son, questionning why he was in the first team given his poor performance. Fergie would play him on the wings to help him develop. Fletch persevered and flourished into a very good player for us.

Wasn't he the one that Keane had a go at?

That red card against Fabregas in the semi final of the CL for a brilliant tackle still hurts me, can't imagine having to deal with that, he was at his peak at that point.

Don't think he's injured, he got promoted to the first team.

It's a shame. Hope he gets over them as he's a huge talent, and that it's a minor issue as opposed to something that rules him out for a long time.

I stand corrected. Yeah his injury woes never seem to end. Quite worrying to be honest.

Aye, don't see him being close to the first team for a while with injury woes like that. Maybe he needs a loan at somewhere a little less intense?

So a youth cup semifinal tomorrow against Chelsea. On Man Utd.com: not even in the match calendar. MUTV not showing it either. :boring::boring::boring:

any idea what the team is likely to be?
Dont know the injury situation but

Mastny - Fish and Mengi centrally - I would put Hardley or Bejger on the right - and Svidersky on the left.

Midfield - Hannibal, McCann centrally, maybe Wellens on the right - can't think of a logical choice on the left - but maybe use Helm or Savage there

Attack: Emeran and Shoretire ? Think Hoogewerf is injured, Mejia definately is

Maybe something like that ?

You forgot Elanga. Imagine he’ll go in the front 3 with Shoretire and one of Wellens or Emeran.

Mejbri, Helm and McCann were the midfield 3 in the 4 other rounds so I’ll guess they’ll continue there.

Back 4 looks about right, Reece Devine is eligible but we haven’t seen him in ages. Beaucoup mentioned he was back training about a month ago but he still hasn’t appeared. Wonder if he’s picked up another injury.

Hardly fish mengi Pye
Svidersky McCann

Elanga
Obviously doubtful Greenwood would play but he is eligible

I think Pye is not eligible as he was not with us last year. If he were eligible, so would Fernandez be and he would play.

I think it will be something like:

Mastny

Bejger
Mengi
Fish
Devine

McCann
Helm
Mejbri

Elanga
Emeran
Shoretire

Possible Svidersky will be LB as others have mentioned.

For me Svidersky needs to start in midfield. I don’t trust McCann in a holding role and Scidersky would help McCann with the positioning and ball winning part of the game.

Yes Svidersky has been in good form in midfield so that makes a lot of sense. We will see.

Been disappointed with Wellens so far this season after a good showing last year.

Yeah the team pretty much picked itself except for LB, probably Svidersky or Hardley there, and whether Wellens or if Hooweverf is back will be preferred over Emeran.

Emeran has been pretty good in his last few matches - so he will probably be picked ahead of either player - esp as Hoogewerf if availble, has been injured
