I’ve no interest at all in psvr, but if they do bring out a 2nd surely it will have to be wireless. I also wouldn’t be surprised if theY ducked out of vr altogether

I definitely don't think it's guaranteed. Not supporting PSVR1 on PS5 games isn't a good way to get people to buy a PSVR2 unless the 2nd was already announced.

Afro said he couldn't buy into Xbox cause they don't believe in VR, and that he is getting wholly next gen experiences on his VR headset on PS5. Gotta hurt.

I think it's the opposite. The haptic feedback developments, the adaptive triggers, the risky-but-rewarding leap into making next-gen about controller experience just as important as frame-rate and visual development tells me that everything is being set up for a superior VR experience a few years down the road.

I purposely didn't play TLOU2 and Horizon: Zero Dawn yet so that I could have two huge games to play at launch on backwards compatibility.
To be fair I bought God of War for PS4 the other day but now I see you can get it for free with a PS5.. would probably go for that version as I assume it'll look nicer.

Pre ordered the new Spider man, I want to get one more but not sure what to get. NBA 2k21 is my first pick, I’ve never played a basketball game before, it looks fun but it’s got some dodgy reviews on other systems. Looked at Godfall but not sure it will hold my interest. Ruling out Demon Souls, I beat that for the ps3 and am not going through that stress again.

Its just you. And the xbox fanboys
I haven't owned a console since the SNES days and been a PC gamer exclusively since, so consider this is an outsider's perspective. Wasnt meant to insult (though I guess I did with the bunch of quotes?). I just haven't heard a compelling argument yet. For someone who may get a console again - what does the PS5 offer over the new Xbox? So far I see a lot of disappointment about losing exclusives, the thing being freakishly large, lack of VR support, lack of Windows/PC integration etc. Again this may not be true but I haven't lived in the console world and based on hype the X sounds better (?).

If you've got gaming PC already, PS5 is surely the way to go? All Xbox games be available on game pass on pc anyway. Couple that with a ps5 and you get to play all the exclusives.

On a selfish standpoint, does anyone know if the England lockdown could have an impact on delivery of these things on day 1? If it does go ahead, I’m seeing everything will close other schools, unis, nurseries until 1 December 2020. However, I couldn’t find anything about work places. I preordered mine from Game.

Sure during last lockdown Amazon and shite were still delivering so fully expect pre orders to be delivered.

The Spiderman thats coming out with PS5 - is that the same as that popular PS4 game but remastered or is it a brand new game?

Stand-alone game, but some suggest it’ll be short enough that it could have been a DLC. I guess it depends how you play it and whether you’re a completionist to help maximise the hours. If you get the ultimate edition you’ll get the remastered version of the original game too.

PS5 sold more systems in 12 hours than PS4 sold in 12 weeks. I think it's proving rather popular with its target demographic.

To be fair, pretty sure PS4 pre-orders went live in Feb or March.

Not saying it isn't a good stat but if I'm remembering correctly it's pretty misleading.

(But yes it will have absolutely no problems selling and will do 100m+ no problem by the end I'm sure, maybe another 120m+)

It's a bit of a weird take, to be honest. I'm not getting into a comparison with Xbox, there's a separate thread for that and that never leads to anything constructive anyway.
- Losing exclusives: I'm not sure what exclusives you're referring to. The same first party studios that gave the PS4 such a great catalogue of games are still, well, first party studios.
- Freakishly large: Well yeah, that's a possible concern. On the other hand, if it keeps the thing cool and quiet, it's not such a bad thing.
- Lack of VR support: Playstation is the only console ecosystem that has any VR support in the first place. It's true that PS5 versions won't support VR for now, but any PS4 VR titles will continue to support that in BC mode on the PS5. I'd say it's very likely that native PS5 VR support will have to wait until PSVR 2.
- Lack of Windows/PC integration: I don't even see how that's a concern.

There's plenty of good stuff to look forward to: the new ergonomic and feature-rich controller, the ultra fast data throughput, the by all accounts excellent cooling solution (even if it has led us to this controversial design), a fairly strong launch line-up in my opinion, with the Astro game pre-installed and promising titles like Demon's Souls, Miles Morales and the Sackboy game (which looks surprisingly creative and fun). And of course further down the line there's the expectation of Sony's first party studios firing on all cilinders like they did this past generation.

And I remember when PS4 launched they were like gold dust for a while.

I can’t find the video clip but I watched someone playing the new Spiderman game, it cold launched to the title screen in 8 seconds, then they loaded their save and was in the game 2 seconds later, it’s ridiculously fast.

means little when people have bought into the brand. You still have people queuing to upgrade their iPhones each time, even though there are people disgruntled with certain aspects of the “newer” model.

Sony kept a lot close to their chests about PS5, and it seems evident why as they don’t even know themselves what will clearly transition or not.

PS4 orders started in June after E3 and it wasn’t exactly like it was easy to preorder during those 12 weeks. It was pretty much sold out after the first day and more preorders were slowly coming out over the next 3 months.

Just spend 700 euros on a ps5. Ooof. My hope is that I can collect the one from GameStop sometime down the line, hopefully before Christmas. And sell that for the same price. I’m not making a profit of it at least.

As much as I want mine at launch, there's no way I'd pay that much for it. There's not a launch game that really justifies the RRP, let alone that much more.

If you're keeping your original pre order as well in a hope you'll be able to offset the cost I think you'll be disappointed. I think a fair few will be available in the second release window.

Here's hoping it wont be as easy to get . My ps4 is on its last legs and needs ps5 for now. Never thought I'd ever spend that much on a bloody console.

I'm a 45 year old man and I'm actively counting down the days to launch like a 5 year old does when Christmas is getting closer.

Been gaming since I was about 8 years old. People said I'd grow out of it!

Good man! Ah we never do. At 29 I've never been so active gaming with a PC and a PS5 to come. No better time either with lockdown

Apparently no PS5 VR games for the foreseeable...

You do still have PSVR support though via PS4 backwards compatibility @Redplane, but Sony are not being very clear on what any of this means going forward. Pricks...
They probably don't want to split psvr into two. Psvr is a niche product to begin with, PS5 VR would lead to

PS4 OGVR
PS5 OGVR
PS5 VR2

Until they launch their new VR headset don't expect dedicated PS5VR titles

I had a time when it took a back seat. It was after I'd split up with a long term girlfriend and I was busy chasing new ladies for a few years. After that though, I was gaming more than ever before. I'm lucky that my good lady wife understands it's my hobby. Also gives her plenty of time to watch whatever crap she wants on TV each evening :D
