Arteta won’t set up to allow us to attack. A win at OT is a relatively easy task: sit deep and tight and hit us on the counter. We need to score first to open the game up.
Arteta has a good record against Ole. 0-0 or 0-1 Arsenal win.

    He wouldn’t be playing.
True but just in case sudden injuries happen again to our usual suspects.

Weirdest post of the year goes to
Oh come on. Maybe do some serious thinking first. Given the ability to think but don't want to use it...

Maguire was last week (or 2/3 weeks ago?) injured and missed a game, and then we play him in every games after that. Is he totally fit? doubt it, but he soldiered on like always kudos. Axel also have a track record of sudden injuries.. even during warming up. AWB play so many games now, possibility of getting injured is there (last season he even suddenly get injured early in the season). Then there's Shaw.. we know how he is, and with Telles confirmed missing. How is Williams form again? not really that good isn't it, a poor choice to face pacy team.

    Confirmed
    RB: Wan-Bissaka
    CB: Axel, Maguire, Lindelof
    LB: Shaw
    FB: Williams

So what's your point? We desperately need TFM because we're probably going to suffer an injury?

We'll smash them. We're better in every area. I'm very relaxed about this game.

    Why is that?
I also admit I'm with @Litch on this. It's because it's Arsenal. It's the Arteta thing and the free pass he gets even though Solskjaer is doing a better job than him. It's those insufferable fans. It's the meltdowns you want to see. It's about wanting to see them implode. It's about going above them in the table. It's about giving them 3 Ls on the bounce. It's about maintaining their poor record against the top 6 sides and their record at Old Trafford.

It's everything about that club. I hate them.

    Well, that's nothing special.

You're going to write something like this ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and City game, too. Right?

Let's not compare who we want to beat more - let's beat 'em!

Will be five in a row including our final home league game of last season. I pray he doesn't revert to Mata, James etc and set up like v Chelsea.
Actually it's already 5 games in a row. We didn't win our last 2 games last season at home(draws against Southampton and West Ham).

Part of me wants us to set up the same way as them and just beat them with better talent.

But I also love the diamond.

The first game we played against Arteta we were missing a few players and they constantly out numbered us down their left flank - a tactic Ole never adjusted to.

Interesting encounter. I hope it’s not like Chelsea, there for the taking but being too cautious.

Could see Axel starting this one to counter Aubameyangs speed. Maybe Cavani will start as well.

We should win, and that's sadly the danger with us. I'll be really disappointed if we can't beat Arsenal at home, and once again there will be a lot of serious questions asked.

 I think we'll win, pretty relaxed. But I feel like this is how I always feel before we play this lot at home.

Certainly expect a much better performance than the last time they came to OT.
We should have seen that one out if it wasn’t for some casual play by Axel.
But you have to expect that from gifted ball playing cbs

Arteta is going to sit back and very deep. I don’t see playing 5 defenders will be effective enough against such a team. It has to be 442 diamond or 4231.
Mark Goldbridge "is hearing" that we're gonna play this midfield/attack:

    McTominay Fred
    Mata Fernandes Rashford
    Greenwood

    :nervous: I hope not, though.

I would go with the diamond again like you say and dominate the midfield, attack them.

Some of the most disappointing results in recent seasons have been the failure to beat average Arsenal sides.

Its about time we got a result against them but I'm not as confident as the predictions here. They have a knack of doing just enough against us. Bookies also give us less than 50% chance of winning.

Cagey game on the cards here.

Arteta will bring his bus and try and hit us on the counter. The ability of our midfield to create chances will decide the game.

I have faith he'll go with the right lineup today and we'll get a good win. Hopefully no more of the over cautious stuff we saw against Chelsea.

So important to score first. If they're able to park it, we're going to really struggle.

Anyone else feeling confident about this one?

Think we can definitely get the win today and should be an exciting game to boot.

I don't think the diamond is a long-term answer for us but we should use it today. It gets our best players on the pitch, if we play as we did against Leipzig our midfield should dominate theirs.

If it allows us to get our best players on the pitch why shouldn’t it be a long term solution?

Because ignoring the right side of the pitch for another decade probably isn't a viable tactic

Even though it's Arsenal and they're at least a decent team, failure to win here will look really bad. We really need to start getting points on the board.

Really don't think Arsenal are that good. Arteta's made them a bit more solid and that's about it. Comfortable 2-0

Don't take him too seriously tbh. I don't anymore after the way he gloated that Sancho was practically on his way to Man United.

At least now I can do better things with my time then stare at my computer listening to him talk nonsense.

Arteta has got a lot of flak on here, mostly because people seem riled up that Ole gets more criticism than him but he's done well steadying that ship and they've easily had one of the hardest starts to the PL. It's hardly a poor job by Arteta that's he's lost in tight games to City, Pool and Leicester. We should win but it will be a slog unless we get a peno early!

Arsenal's fresh legs will make all the difference.

We had an intense CL game mid-week with the full first team, they got to rest everyone for a nothing EL match.

    European hangover performance incoming.
