The annoying thing is Southgate will be chuffed with this performance. Our strongest area is our attack, yet Southgate seems more concerned with being as safe as possible and trying to shield the defence.

I thought I was literally the only other person in the world with this opinion.
He scores goals but the gameplay is utter trash. Our gameplay as a team does not benefit like the way he plays for Spurs so I dont see why he should just consistently be picked for England. Does his England performances not count just because he puts the ball in the back of the net? Even that is not the same consistency as his spurs level. There is a very technical level of English footballers like Rashford, Greenwood, Sterling, Foden, Grealish, Sancho, Saka, TAA - Kane just sometimes feels like he slows the game play down.

Grealish is a real throwback player you don’t see many players with these skills nowadays

No team in particular
England dominated in possession without having any real goal occasion while Belgium had quite a few clear occasions, deserved victory IMO.
Graelish is a real talent though.
And saying Kane is shit for England and that Vardy is better is really laughable though.

Good win. Laborious as always, but damn we give absolutely nothing to weaker sides. Our midfield is loaded

If only we had a world class forward of two :(

He looked great. Don't know if not getting the transfer has deflated him or his form has just dropped off a cliff anyway.
Combination of both, maybe. There are loads of players at the moment who look tired or not at their best. Think the mental toll of this year hasn't helped at all, but also the way in which the matches are being churned out certainly isn't helping that many players.

Belgium under Martinez, 39 wins in 50, 4 losses. 147 goals scored. Only Brazil, Germany and Spain have held the number 1 spot on the Fifa ranking longer.

I'll be sad when all these top players call it a day.

He might be one we need to have a look at over the season to see if the form picks up. Knowing us we will jump in with both fee in January and his actually is bad.

Well that was dull, hate this system. Southgate's a fraud still riding off the back of the easy World Cup draw and that one game against Spain.

Harry Kane is better in every conceivable way to the attacking players you have mentioned
It can't be debated

In hindsight, imagine if we had gone and paid the fee, only for him to have come and not performed. That would have been very damaging for the player. Maybe it's a good thing that the club waited.

I think his form will pick up, and he is still a quality player who I'd love to see at our club. Players do go through patches where it doesn't always work out and it's very, very difficult to be a consistently high performer across the whole season, and then from year to year. However, for the price that Dortmund were quoting, that's really what we should be getting for that money.

I wanted Grealish over the summer. If Southgates going to persist with the 343 Grealish should play at 8 and let him link in with Rashford/Sterling

So you wouldnt take Courtois over Pickford? Or Alderweireld over Mings? Tielemans or Witsel?
Hasn't Alderwierld declined so badly he's now behind Sanchez and Dier at Spurs?

Agree with the other two though.

The price they were asking at this moment in time was ridiculous. Not sure next year will improve financially for clubs either.

I wouldn't be starting Pickford, Coutrois has been shite for a couple of years.

Alderweireld? Nope, he's more comparable to Maguire in team status also.

Tielemans or Witsel? Over Rice and Henderson? nope.
