Still rather set up like a Div 1/2 side with a decent stadium and location. Play in red which appeals to a lot of eastern companies/investors (silly but true).
The killer, though, is that it's basically the only representative of half of Wales that isn't stuck in a dead league. People talk about 60k people in Wrexham as if the thousands in the surrounding villages, even stretching right down to West and Mid Wales aren't currently (if not potentially) Wrexham supporters.
Also heavily associated with the University, so potential to have some good benefits.
They used to have no problems filling the stadium (10k) a few years back, and that's all you need to have basic profitability.
I spent half my life around that area of the world, and if you think it's bad there then you've not lived in the South West. More expensive, worse roads, worse people and, for some reason, twice as expensive to live here with nigh on no difference in wages

I mean, the club crest has Dragons on it and they play in Deadpool colours. Nothing sounds more appealing to Americans than the superficial stuff like that!
I imagine, though, if they wanted a cheap club with potential in a 'good' area (in terms of fanbase) then it ticks the boxes. Near Liverpool/Manchester so not unappealing in footballing Geography, not in a congested footballing zone at the same time (e.g. like Leyton Orient, who are also a red, dragon-based team), and the 'name' isn't so old fashioned as to be difficult to market to US based people who think teams should be named after an animal or object.
If the supposed £2m price is for it all and includes the stadium then it's surely break even for them, but I don't know how tied in Crusaders are as I recall they moved up there years ago maybe when Neville Dickens owned them.

I don't think a Welsh, 4th division side is much of a status symbol to someone like Ryan Reynolds. The dude has been a movie star for two decades. He divorced Scarlett Johansson FFS, you think he views Wrexham AFC as a status symbol?.

There's worse reasons to own a football club, lets be honest. Some owners just want to make money.
