There's been hits and misses, but we had that under Fergie as well. Fergies last signings weren't exactly resounding successes, his last 7 signings were:

Nick Powell - 6 mill
Kagawa - 12m
Sean Goss - 100k
RVP- 24M
Buttner - 3.9M
Angelo Henriquez -5m
Zaha - 10m
Kagawa and zaha arent a miss yet.

They'll perform under fergie. We'll never know but hardly a miss.

The rest aren cannon fodder and a cheap punt.

they already have been and left, so they were a miss for us, doesn't mean they aren't good players, just didn't work out for us.Zaha played 2 games, Kagawa was sold for half what we paid for him 2 seasons prior.

Of course that every hit is not the same level of hit and that every miss is not same level of miss l. Lots of our signings are neither hit or miss imo, but if i go simply with hit and miss then;
Juan Mata £40m - hit.
Marouane Fellaini £29m - hit
Victor Valdes Free - miss
Daley Blind £15.75m - hit
Maros Rojo £18m - miss
Ander Herrera £32.4m - hit
Luke Shaw £33.75m - hit
Angel Di Maria £67.5m - miss
Radamel Falcao Loan - miss
Sergio Romero Free - hit
Bastian Schweinsteiger £8.1m - miss
Matteo Darmian £16.2m - miss
Memphis Depay £30.6m - miss
Morgan Schneiderlin £31.5m - miss
Anthony Martial £54 - hit
Paul Pogba £93.25m -hit (i don't care what people think. He is a hit. Not what we expected but still hit)
Henrikh Mkhitaryan £26.3m - hit(our best player in EL).
Zlatan Ibrahimvoic Free - hit
Eric Bailly £30m - miss
Nemanja Matic £40m - hit
Romelu Lukaku £90m - hit
Victor Lindelof £39.5m - hit
Matej Kovar Free - ??
Alexis Sanchez £30m (Swap) - miss
Lee Grant £1.5m - ??
Fred £61.2m - hit
Diogo Dalot £19 - miss
Harry Maguire £80m - miss
Aaron Wan-Bissaka £50m - hit
Dan James £18m - miss
Odion Ighalo Loan - miss
Bruno Fernandes £67.7m - hit
Edinson Cavani Free - too early
Facundo Pellistri Free - too early
Alex Telles £15.4m - too early but he will be a hit
Donny van de Beek £39 - too early but he will be a hit
Sancho: miss so far :)

If i put everything in consideration (fee, impact, results, stats...) then;

Top 5 are:
1) Zlatan
2) Martial
3) Bruno
4) Mata
5) Romero

Top 5 of flops:
1) Alexis
2) Di Maria
3) James
4) Maguire
5) Schneiderlin

So we all know with spent a lot of money and probably not had value for money since Fergie.

But let’s keep it light and entertaining. Just Hits and failures. Then your pick for value for money and you pick for waste of money.

Juan Mata £40m - HIT
Marouane Fellaini £29m - HIT
Victor Valdes Free - HIT
Daley Blind £15.75m - HIT
Maros Rojo £18m - MISS
Ander Herrera £32.4m - HIT
Luke Shaw £33.75m - HIT (Lots of money though)
Angel Di Maria £67.5m - HIT (cash recouped allowing)
Radamel Falcao Loan - MISS
Sergio Romero Free - HIT
Bastian Schweinsteiger £8.1m - MISS
Matteo Darmian £16.2m - MISS
Memphis Depay £30.6m - MISS
Morgan Schneiderlin £31.5m - MISS
Anthony Martial £54 - HIT
Paul Pogba £93.25m - MISS
Henrikh Mkhitaryan £26.3m - MISS
Zlatan Ibrahimvoic Free - HIT
Eric Bailly £30m - MISS
Nemanja Matic £40m - HIT
Romelu Lukaku £90m - HIT (Good output, recouped fee)
Victor Lindelof £39.5m - HIT
Matej Kovar Free - N/A
Alexis Sanchez £30m (Swap) - MISS
Lee Grant £1.5m - N/A
Fred £61.2m - HIT
Diogo Dalot £19 - MISS
Harry Maguire £80m - HIT
Aaron Wan-Bissaka £50m - HIT
Dan James £18m - MISS
Odion Ighalo Loan - HIT
Bruno Fernandes £67.7m - HIT
Edinson Cavani Free - HIT
Facundo Pellistri Free - N/A
Alex Telles £15.4m - HIT
Donny van de Beek £39 - HIT
WHERE THE FECK DID YOU GET THOSE VALUES FROM?!? I based the above on actual figures and not fantasy.

We have had waaaay more hits than misses. Just no long term approach. Hits for one manager were surplus to requirements for the next.

How can some of these players be hit when all they have to show for it are 1 FA cup, 1 Europa and 1 League cup after 1 billion pounds spent. They should all be miss, 'cos they've not been able to challenge for the league nor Champions league

I feel noone has really taken us by storm. Bruno for sometimes, but also let us down in big games too.

Ibra had his games too, but overall disappointed with him for our league form. Although very good for our cup runs.

Juan Mata £40m- Hit although never hit the heights we wanted.
Marouane Fellaini £29m. Hit. Always liked him and he did a job for us. Got loads of flack on here and had obvious limitations but not his fault he was our only signing that summer.
Victor Valdes Free- miss. Did he even play?
Daley Blind £15.75m. Hit. Had a few good spells and a very likeable and talented player.
Maros Rojo £18m. Miss. Showed promise but an absolute crock and waste of space
Ander Herrera £32.4m. Hit although could have been so much more. Really likeable when he was here and never forget him roasting Hazard.
Luke Shaw £33.75m. Miss. Good player but never fit and should be on the level of Liverpools fullbacks given the fee at the time, his hype and ability.
Angel Di Maria £67.5m. Miss. Hateful little rat
Radamel Falcao Loan. Miss. Like he did anytime the ball came near him
Sergio Romero Free. Hit. Best number 2 in the world. Never complained and never let us down.
Bastian Schweinsteiger £8.1m. Miss. Waste of space
Matteo Darmian £16.2m. Miss. Not much to say.
Memphis Depay £30.6m. Miss. Loads of talent just didnt happen for the kid.
Morgan Schneiderlin £31.5m. Miss. Was happy when he signed but never looked anywhere near good enough
Anthony Martial £54. Hit. Plenty more to come from the kid.
Paul Pogba £93.25m. Miss. Easily most talented player on the list but looks like he doesnt want to know half the time.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan £26.3m. Miss. Showed bits and pieces but never the same player we thought we signed.
Zlatan Ibrahimvoic Free. Hit. Super signing and he’d still be banging them in if not for that injury.
Eric Bailly £30m. Miss. Crock
Nemanja Matic £40m. Hit. Solid player just wish he was 8 years younger.
Romelu Lukaku £90m. Hit if only for the fact he scored a decent amount snd we got a decent price for him.
Victor Lindelof £39.5m. Miss. Only good enough to be a squad player tbh.
Matej Kovar Free who?
Alexis Sanchez £30m (Swap) miss. Waste of space and resources
Lee Grant £1.5m. Hit. Did what he came in to do. No complaints and by all accounts a real professional.
Fred £61.2m. Hit. Did he not only cost 50m? Has came into his own in the last year snd plenty to come.
Diogo Dalot £19. Miss. Just never happened.
Harry Maguire £80m. Miss. Too many mistakes in him. Would be ok with quality around him but not good enough for what we need.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka £50m. Hit. Best in the business at what he does
Dan James £18m. Miss. Showed potential but not looking like he’s good enough
Odion Ighalo Loan. Hit. Did exactly what we needed last year and a really likeable guy.
Bruno Fernandes £67.7m. Hit. Absolutely superb, seems to bleed United and his attitude is first class
Edinson Cavani Free. Too soon to say but will be a hit.
Facundo Pellistri Free too soon to judge.
Alex Telles £15.4m. Too soon to judge but have every faith
Donny van de Beek . As above

Man, the success % is pretty low compared to Liverpool and Man city during the same period. Let's hope we can turn it around in the next few years. Bruno is a good start.

On a side note, is it highly controversial to say that Rashford has been our best attacker during this time period? He played a big part in us winning our 3 major honors post Fergie and the only youth product to continue his ascent regardless of the changes around the club. I would personally rank only DDG ahead of him in terms of performances. Or am I tripping?
It’s Rashford by a distance.

You could argue that outside of Bruno and maybe Zlatan there has not been a single unqualified success since Fergie. Players like Mata have a long period of service but his performance level has never come close to what was hoped from him.

Romero should be added as well, ideal back up keeper.

Sky sports. Who have probably archived articles of the correct fees. But who really knows.
