Anybody else a fan? I’ve read them all, but the latest one is mainly written by Lee Child’s brother and it’s noticeably different a couple of chapters in. Reacher seems like a whole new character, practically loquacious

I think the OP means that the new ones aren’t written by the same person. Unless I’m mistaken.

ive read loads of them but had no idea the author had changed.

Yeah. He’s letting his brother take over and this is the first book where his brother is involved. Supposedly they have written it together, but it’s very noticeably different. Not sure I’m enjoying it compared to the others. And I’m as massive fan of the series. They’re action movies in book form.

I've read all of them so far, and will continue to do so, however I've heard the new one isn't all that good and Reacher even gets a mobile phone.

They're all pretty much the same when you drill into it.

Reacher gets on a bus to a non-name town in Hickville USA
Reacher intervenes into something he's got nothing to do with
Reacher counts the clock in his head
Reacher buys some new clothes and presses them under his mattress
Reacher gets into a 5 man fight, works out attack angles in his head, and defeats all five.
Reacher shags a local woman.
Reacher either teams up with local law enforcement or another group seeking justice.
Reacher then goes after the main man.
Reacher wins.
Reacher gets on a bus to another no-name town in Hickville USA
Repeat.

And has about 10 cups of coffee per chapter.

I read the first one a year or two back on the recommendation of someone and I can honestly say I could have saved myself five or six hours just by reading this.

The first one was great tbf. Why they decided to do the first movie on the one they did “one shot” was beyond me. I have heard they’re doing a series based on Killing Floor though, and with an over 5ft 9in Reacher, so there’s a plus point

It wasn’t really my cup of tea tbh but I can see the appeal. I certainly didn’t walk away from it having hated it or anything. Had to Google what you meant by the latter bit. I had no idea Tom Cruise had made a movie out of it. He’s not what I pictured anyway.

The book describes him in great detail as a giant of a man. I’d literally cast anyone other than Cruise.

A few years ago, I'd read four or five and loved them all. I ended up ordering the entire series, but then never got back to them again. I remember disliking the movies thoroughly.

Pretty much, and that works for me. As someone from a country where you can't walk into a shop and buy a gun, I enjoyed reading about his mental exposition into firearms as well.
