Laura is basically allowed to serve bad looking stuff at this point, I think the expectations they have for the pair of them worked in her favour and against Hermine, which is shit... But there you go.

What makes me laugh is they have obvious favourites they want to go through. One minute they apparantly judge week to week, next they allow on potential or more likely who they think still add a bit of entertainment.
She should have gone long ago. It's like that little shy fella who won in a couple of years back over Ruby and that, he had a shocking week and should have easily gone and yet they let him through because they liked him. Perhaps rightly so as he was the best overall, but the point is they mix and match the criteria.

They really should take into account previous weeks. Laura just keeps on serving up unfinished/collapsed/dropped/melted results and is still in somehow. She barely did anything properly for her technical, just read the recipe and decided to cry.
I totally agree, but even judging on this week's standard, no way was she even better than Hermine tonight. She offers absolutely zero chance of winning. Hermine is a victim of her previous success.

It was scandalous that Lauren made the final ahesd of Hermine. She was awful for the previous 2/3 rounds too. Glad Peter won, he was the best across the whole show.
Agreed. Peters been the best throughout but seemed like David had a better final. Though perhaps they edited it to hint towards David winning.. like with Laura predicting David was going to win. Peter was class, glad for him.

It was great, wasn't it? I've never watched the series before so I don't know if they usually go into that much depth or whether it was down to the covid situation, but it was lovely and moving all the same.
Couldn't they have arranged for some air con to avoid all the heat-related feck-ups?

Apparently Air Con really fecks with mics/sound quality for filming... Also I guess its meant to replicate true British Summer fayre... So heat comes with that.

Competitor wise it was really weak. I struggled to really root for anyone this year.
There’s usually one contestant I really like, I felt a bit apathetic to most of them this time.
Just love watching it though, always makes me want some cake.

Rubbish season. Lower standard of baking (no Hermine and that final was a fecking travesty) obviously mars it, but I wouldn't be all that bothered if Matt Lucas wasn't so painfully unfunny and annoying. He's genuinely ruining it. He manages to make those small exchanges with contestants uncomfortable, but not in the funny surreal way Noel does it. Following Peter around and sticking a non existent phone in his face to mimic what his life will be like post Bake Off was an example. It's not even a joke it's just... What actually was that? Being annoying for the sake of it? His sexual innuendos are shit and unnecessary, and his big baby throwing a tantrum bit (something about small cheesecake..?) is crap. Leave him in 2020 with all the other shit.

Nah balls to that. Noel Fielding is actually likeable. Fair enough if he's a bit too out there with his humour for you, but Matt Lucas is on another level. Noel does playful oddball teasing, Lucas does cupcakes as tits and says things like "Pru-gasms". Noel and Sandi worked really well as an out of place duo talking about baking as they sort of balanced each other out and had what appeared to be a genuine functioning partnership. With Matt it's descended into cock jokes and funny faces. Needs changing.
