Finally I saw United playing with a presence up front, a top class striker moving everywhere and opening spaces for himself and other.

He'll be immense for us during second half of the season.

Highlight of the game was him dummying every ball that came to him, and it worked perfectly every time. Really deserved a goal. Still doesn't look 100% sharp with the ball at his feet, but I'd start him against Southampton
Highlight of the game was his amazing cross.

Think he might want to murder Mason...

I thought he was decent... Not amazing or anything, but certainly promising stuff.

Team looks far more balanced going forward with a proper no 9. I like Martial but you lose that with him playing as the no 9.

His movement really is as good as it gets, we have to provide service for this fella.

He’s quicker than I expected for his age. Excellent work rate.

Still not overly convinced but he's short term and we take what we can get at the present.

If he can put in performances like this in the league, he will be golden for us.

Based on his limited time here, he presses better, is better in the build up play and is less selfish than Martial.

Should have had a goal or two more in the bank, if it hadn’t been for poor passing a couple of times today and against Everton in situations where he was completely free in the back of the oppositions box.

Movement, work rate, experience, mentality, quality. Proper target. If only we had someone out wide who could find him he'd have a few goals tonight. Still by far the 2nd most important player tonight in my opinion.

Fitness is looking much better tonight, ran hard for the full 90 which is a great sign.

Classy, efficient centre forward play tonight. I thought he looked frustrated that his teammates didn't pick him out enough. but I can't fault his play at all. I hope he's in Ole's plans to start more often.

Oh look at this, I have a fan.
305 posts and 5 of them are:

The Uruguayan Andy Carrol. What a player!
Uruguayan Andy Carrol
Cavani is the Uruguayan Andy Carrol.
Uruguayan Andy Carrol.
And another from 4th October that I can't quote: "I'm buzzing. The Uruguayan Andy Carrol. I can't wait."

Safe to say, you have no fans with this quality of repetitive posting.

Very good match despite zero chances to score. He's a good player this one
Did you not see the chance when he should have shot with his left and had his right foot effort blocked on the 6 yard line ?
And the 40 yarder when the goalie was out the penalty area - that's 2
Class player

Yes that was a half chance to be fair, he has 2 players blocking a clear shot on goal and there's little to suggest a left foot would have been enough to beat the keeper at near post.

Doing exactly what we hoped he would. Good work rate, good hold up play and linking the forward line well. He's not going to be another Zlatan but he's here to give us rest and options.

In no way do I want to be Martial bashing, but that’s how I expect a no. 9 to play. That’s his first start for 8/9 months in club football. Did very well.

In all honesty, I thought he looked like he was lacking an edge, but we look a far better side with an actual number 9 playing for us rather than a perma-sulking statue.

Hopefully he's still shaking the rustiness off, but a proper, long term no 9 is an absolute priority.

I think Cavani is a even better choice than Zlatan at this state of the team.

No goal but his hold up play, build up play, link up, work rate were superb today. 8/10. A goal would have boost it to 9 or 10.

I think that's harsh. Martial simply isn't suited to a lone striker role. He could be great in 4-4-2 but you expect the lone striker to do the simple stuff extremely well and press extremely well, that has never been Martial's game and likely never will be.

Cavani clearly loves a one touch pass and move, Martial loves the ball too much for that.

Really good shift tonight. Shame not to score but his movement and work helps all the players around him find space.

Very good ‘back to goal’ appearance, that’s exactly what you want from a number 9. Great holding up, bringing others into play, work rate and making space for others in the box.. makes you really appreciate having a proper number 9.

Hopefully he can play a full part going forward. Once we get used to his positioning in the area, think he will start scoring quite regularly.

Didn't think he was as good as everyone else did clearly. We scored 4 but I didn't think he was a massive threat. Messed up his best opportunity not shooting first time and a couple of other times I thought he was hesitant to really attack the box. Put in a great shift though and hold up was good
