Good result albeit expected. Bruno irreplaceable, Telles exciting with his dead ball porn, Cavani encouraging and terrific commitment, VDB can’t be far off starting in the league...... BUT the defence still fills me with dread and looks feeble and vulnerable to the most basic of movement and pace from the opposition.

Met expectation. I can see us losing to PSG but squeezing a draw from Leipzig
Couldn't it be the other way around? So that just for once we don't do it the hardest possible way?

Anyone get the feeling Martial and Greenwood weren't doing the obvious passes to Cavani?

Promising but I don't think we should get too carried away with a Fred and VdB partnership yet. We were far too open for better opposition.

Great first 15 minutes. One touch football and purposeful movement. All about the win though, even if the subs and subsequent formation change on the 60min mark really took the sting out.

Great shame about Tuanzebe's yellow card.

In hindsight I think it was an open game and both teams played on par but one team had the superior quality of players

How long until Bruno is captain. 100% more influential and important than Maguire. His interviews are always great. Just hope we start winning things again before he is getting linked to the top teams in Europe every window.

We are a different class when he is on the pitch.

Important win, we looked great first half but struggled in the second and were maybe a bit too open. That's the only problem with that midfield.

Bruno was the difference, VDB was very tidy, Cavani showed his qualities and chuffed for James to get a goal too.

Really enjoyed that first first with some great football between Fernandes, Cavani, Van De Beek and Rashford in the early stages. Was a great watch. No complaints about the first half at all, other than maybe to say its a shame that Fernandes didn't get his hat trick. But I'm happy for Rashford to score too.

Second obviously wasn't as good. I figure the team just let themselves think it was over and won already. To be fair it was very unlikely Istanbul would come back but still would have liked to see a bit more of the football we saw in the first half. I was very glad for James to score as I honestly thought he played very well when he came on and looked like one of the only players bothered to make something happen the second half. More of that from him and he'd go some way to chnavin opinions around here.

Enjoyed it! A bit sloppy once we went 2-0 up and even more so once we made the subs but made up for Dan James and that opening period was sexy.

I would play Van de Beek again against Southampton at the weekend with Cavani up top. McTominay can come on later in the game if we need to shore things up and then I would start Fred and McT together against PSG next Wednesday.

Really concerned about Maguire and Martial. Both utterly weak.

VVB probably MOM.
Bruno has been carrying this team ever since he joined which is another concern.

I thought the Turkish side was really poor in the first 30 minutes. Carling cup poor.

Overall, job done but wouldn't get carried away too much.
Virgil Van Beek?

Some people slagging Martial off. Wrong!
He had a very good first half, with an excellent effort, but faded in the second and then vanished once Bruno was subbed.
Fred battling away brilliantly in the first half, but started to get ragged and haphazard as the second half progressed. He’s been the same in loads of matches. Is he a 60 minute player?
Matic should have come on 10 mins earlier to cover when Fred started going AWOL.
Cavani, first class work rate, made all the difference to our attack.
Bruno and Donny joint motm for me.
Rashford had a 50/50 game. A much better effort from him than his abysmal recent performances, but his decision making is poor and even shocking at times. Couldn’t get most of his passes and crosses past the first man.

Maybe start the next match with the same line-up, but with Greenwood for Rashford?

Great win. First half was class, second was poor. It’s expected though with the result in the first half and with all the changes. Perfect game imo.

I think Istanbul were excellent going forward.
I know people will moan about our defense being shit but we're doing quite good in that regard in epl.

Missed most of the match - caught one moment about 42nd minute where ball was played down our right with AWB up field and Maguire had a chance to go engage the player out there but for some reason collapsed to the box where we had 3 others to their one - player on the ball made it all the way to our 6 yard box - not sure what Maguire was playing at there.

Big win should do for our confidence.

Next game we have got to get the point if not win. Don’t want to go into last game needing a point. Ugh sucks to have screwed up match day 3.

I think them bypassing our defense easily has less to do with VdB and Fred pair not good enough defensively and more to do with how easy our press was to bypass

Excellent first half, very enjoyable. Really should have tagged on a couple more goals before they even got a sniff, that goal gave them a bit more life and belief and they went for it more.

At that point you need your big players at the back in De Gea and Maguire to be getting a hold of the team and making sure they sort it out and take control of the ball and calm things down. Neither is commanding enough to do this and instead it turned into a messy scramble for a long period in that second half where anything could have happened. That should never have been let carry on, should have kept the ball and killed their mometum.

The sloppiness in possession and the poor decision making of the forwards in the second half was terrible up until the last goal. Nice goal and good to see James and Greenwood involved in scoring again.

Martial is not a number 9. Cavani showed tonight what a number 9 should do. Movement, one touch lay offs and bringing players in to the game going forward.

first half was like Manchester United. Beek my MOTM, absolutely wonderful play. Cavani made a massive difference. Loved the game.

Good win against that lot especially after the last game against them.

Bruno obviously MOTM.

Took the foot off the gas when 3-0 up and lost fluency with the subs but it's understandable given the game was pretty much won at that stage.

Some good performances and good for Cavani and DVB to get 90 mins. They all did very well.

We need to follow this up at the weekend and not fudge up against Southampton.

Didn’t we see that tonight? I think after that display him abs Fred did enough to start together next match. That was tidy stuff going on in the middle with those two and Bruno.
Possibly, but I'd like to see it against better opposition first. Its important to get the balance right and only games will do that, but i would also like to see him next to McTominay

Bruno United, when he was playing we was on top. he goes off and we turn to shit. Nice finish from James but hes was average overall. Enjoyed the Fred, VDB and Bruno midfield think its a very attack minded combination against weaker teams. Ole had a stinker with his subs and why change the formation is beyond me, if it's not broken don't try and fix it when we're losing he just carries on the same formation...

For sure, but it was a great indicator that we don’t necessarily have to play with two defensive mids and also that DVB is capable of being more than the 10 some think he’s limited to being. That was a fantastic game for him.

But yes, he could do well next to McT’s physicality no doubt. We have good options in the middle of the park currently.
