Weren't able to play much of the United save in the pre-release game so thought I'd start fresh when the full version came out and wanted to start career a little lower down the leagues, with the aim of eventually taking over at United might the opportunity knock. Which will be hella challenging for me because outside of the Premier League and Europe's big dawgs my knowledge is extremely limited to non-existent.
Thought I'll go for a local team to me so I picked the area where many of my cars of the past were impounded - Charlton Athletic in EFL League One, who were actually relegated on the final day by Leeds I'll have you know.
Goes without I spent manya hours on pre-season getting to get to know the squad and figuring out how to best use it; the better players are knocking on death's door at 30+ and the best passer on my team is United very own Dylan Levitt!! who is on loan. My transfer budget is 400k with nothing in the pot for wages, team cohesion fairly deep in to the red - exciting.
Saying all that I've started the season well employing a similar 4231 systems I had at United - with changes to team instructions - beating fellow league 1ers Bristol Rovers, AFC Wimbledon and Crew in Caraboa round 1, Papa John's and the League respectively.
I am enjoying it more than when I started at United gotta say.

I think you need to stick with it. I always find I struggle to get into a save when I am unfamiliar with the team but eventually I get properly into it.
Even when I did a save where I went to Juventus I was always hoping I could move the PL soon but after two seasons there I didn't want to change clubs. Your brain just sometimes wants something it's familiar with and I think building up a team and making it in your image is more rewarding in the long run than winning every game with Utd.
It was certainly daunting when I started going through the club realising i'm literally unfamiliar with EVERYTHING! But you're 100% right as once I got the ball rolling, the successes on the pitch felt so much more rewarding and I've actually gained an affinity for it, much more so than simply taking over a giant that only needs 2-3 signings before you're challenging for all the top honours.
The social media reactions part of this game is incredibly bad. I signed our best player after having him on loan, and one of the social media posts was along the lines of "he's not been THAT good". He's 19 and scored 20+ league goals for us.
It makes me laugh because it's so dumb but then I think there's always someone with an opposite opinion on Twitter.
An example of one that annoyed me was one that said "Telles is not ready for a game like this". We were playing West Brom at home and he'd assisted 9 goals up until that point.
Yeah they're quite funny with how ridiculous they are. Seems like for every topic, they make it so that both opinions are represented. No matter how stupid one of those opinions may be.

The best is when you're signing a wonderkid for £300k and one of their fans say something like 'I'll drive him there for that fee, we're rinsing them'. Cheers Patrick, don't forget to fill up the tank on your way.
I remember I sold Fred on it in FM20 for something like £40m, which I thought was great business.

I keep getting scout reports for random players in my inbox. I want my scouts to do that with players of course but I only want inboxes of players I've specifically asked them to scout. How do I stop this? I've tried playing with the settings.

Go into scouting and set the filters to send the assignments to your inbox and everything else to the scouting centre.

I've set it to every month or 50 entries for the scouting reports. Still getting individual player ones though.

New save. I've set it so that I handle assignments now so hopefully that makes them feck off.

I like to let the Chief Scout set those. I can't be arsed telling them where to go and for how long, etc.. Seems I can't do that anymore?

Got Oxford into the PL on my first attempt after two seasons in League One. I did spend an awful lot of time finding the right players though so I'm not really surprised.
I got offered the England job so I decided to take it to further my rep/career and resigned as Oxford manager.

I'm honestly not 100% sure as I always handle that myself so I don't really know what happens when you delegate.
I always just set my scouts to go somewhere and use the 'Ongoing' option so I don't need to bother with it again unless I want them to go somewhere else.
Seems bugged as feck. I've got Vicente (my scout) set to do Opposition Reports but they keep coming from my Under 18s Performance Analyst. Even post match reports come from him and I can't see anywhere to change that.
Yeah I had this in the BETA, had to go into the more in depth reports section of responsibilities I think to change it if that's an option as it was set wrong there for some reason. Can't remember off the top of my head but will check when I'm home.
It's been quite a bit more buggy for me since the full game was released. We just qualified for the play-off finals, winning both legs easily, and the only options available to me in the team talk after the second leg are as if we lost; "not good enough", etc.
One of the best they’ve released in ages but also seems to be one of the buggiest. Frustrating.

Yeah that's the one but just checked mine and it's the same, swear there was a lot more options than that last time I had to fix it though so I'm not sure. Looking through my staff now though, I don't think scouts can actually do oppo reports I think it's exclusive to Performance Analysts as it doesn't let me pick a scout so maybe that's why? If you have a first team Performance Analyst do they come from him if you set it to him?Cheers. I think I'm there but can't see the option.

I've not played much of this on the beta, about halfway through the CL group stage first season, I think, so I'm going to start a new one.
I've had no real issues with it, other when I want to do an individual team talk, I have to unselect 10 players to talk to the one I actually wanted to. That might be something people asked for, but I'd rather start at none and add them in.

Yeah same it wasn't too bad but this looks way nicer IMO. Wonder why they never put it in the game themselves as this was pulled from the files.
Yeah the giant white boxes are a baffling design choice.
There was a dark skin last year? No idea why they haven't included it this year.
They always hold the dark skin back at the beta and then release it after a bit, but I thought it usually came with full game, or shortly after I guess.

What tactics are people using for United? I want to stick with the 4231 for now as I managed to sign Sancho. Using him and Rashford as inside forwards with Bruno as the advanced playmaker in the AM role in front of Pogba as roaming playmaker and a BWM. I have won a few matches but I don’t feel like I am getting the best of what I have available to me. I haven’t played this since fm14 so I’m struggling a bit on the tactics front.
I plan on selling Pogba and signing Grealish at the end of the season although I’m not sure how that will work tactically. I only plan on playing 2 seasons max so I’m not thinking long term or signing youngsters. Managed to sell Lingard, Rojo, Bailly, James and Romero for a combined few of £45 million, whilst signing Sancho and Skinirar proving that this game is ridiculously unrealistic.

Managing in the PL has been destroyed by Brexit. It’s okay for 3/4 years but when the new rules kick in its fecking crap.
Back to back promotions at Depor! Took some doing this season though, great form for the second half of the season but took until beating Vallecano in the second to last game before I even touched the automatic spots all season.
Had Esposito on loan which just felt like cheating at this level, 38G 7A in 41(1) league games. Was struggling in January so brought Batista-Meier in for £3m after selling one of my best youngsters and he was quality, 11G 12A in 18 games. Definitely worth looking at.

You can download a no-brexit db from the steam workshop, it keeps the old work permits, but the brexit never happens. Kind of cheating, but at least it makes the game enjoyable.
In the last minute of the Champions League Semi Finals, 3-2 up on aggregate, if they score they win. Ronaldo buys a free kick, last kick of the game really, have the team on contain, and time wasting as much as possible, so he surely should just pass it back and keep the ball. Nope, he hits the post, they go down the other end and score in the 95th minute and we go out on away goals.
