Manchester tier 3 - no fans allowed. London and Liverpool Tier 2 and can have fans.

So much for a fair competition!

While it's unprecedented times, allowing some clubs to have fans and others not just makes a mockery of home/away matches.

Will 2000 fans really make that much difference?

The premier league should block it on integrity reasons.

It should be one rule for all clubs for the whole season but won't be.

Since when has the premier League ever had any integrity.

After Solskjaer complained the other week they made us play Saturday evening... before our game on Tuesday.

It's 2000 fans they are not making a difference.

There is no football conspiracy here.

Will clubs even want just 2000 fans in? Surely that can't be profitable.
Haven’t most clubs still been paying their matchday staff anyway? Pretty sure no matchday staff are on furlough after the backlash when Liverpool tried to.

Tell that to Manutd players when they play away games and there is 2000 away fans.. ask the players if that makes a difference?

Worth remembering fans are not allowed to sing or shout. So what difference does it make to anything?

An awful pr move by the government overall allowing fans back to stadiums. What was it yesterday? 600 odd deaths in the UK?

Seems like the perfect time to start letting fans in.

Of course 2000 fans, especially now, will make a difference.

its an unfair advantage to have and saying so doesn’t mean you think there’s a ‘conspiracy’, it’s just clearly unfair. the difference playing in a dead stadium like we’ve been watching and having 2000 supporters is massive as any person who’s ever been to a non league game can attest.

What’s the allocation? Just local fans I presume and will that mean it’s predominantly home fans? Seems completely fair.

it doesn’t matter. If you’re a player who’s been playing in empty stadiums for 8 months, suddenly having people to actually play to is an advantage, however small. You can’t have different rules for different teams in the same competition it really is that simple.

 guarantee you now they'll be chanting like normal and nobody will stop them. Germany and France all were chanting too with limited capacity.

How are they going to police fans not singing or shouting?

how are they going to allocate tickets too?

the devil is in the detail

Not allowed to sing or shout. Good luck with that. It’s a farce.

Would think there will be a ballot of season ticket holders, also taking note of where they live, so fans are not travelling from high risk areas.

I find it wild that we're coming out of a National Lockdown straight into allowing 2,000 fans to go to an event...

But then this Government are pretty much making it up as they go along.

Not sure if clubs would even want that, I mean all the effort for just 2.000 fans? If it was at least a capacity of around 10 % it would have been worth it.

 Good look enforcing no shouting. Dumb as feck.

Actually think its a good thing we're not getting this, surely the amount of staff required along with food etc would mean there would be very little increase in revenue? Let them be the guinea pigs.

I suspect 2000 fans spread out around a 40k seat stadium will sound like 2000 people shouting in an open park. It’s going to be quite annoying for the players and sound like heckling in a comedy club. That’s to say they don’t actually prohibit shouting.

I see they won’t allow shouting or singing so it’s not going to amount to anything positive for the home team.

Conspiracy

The tiers are based on various factors, like infection rates, capacity of the NHS etc infection rates in the North West have been consistently amongst the worst in the country.
Liverpool was worse than tier 3 before lockdown, how the huge change?

There will be an uproar if the PL let this happen, so they probably will,

Firstly, it will 100% make a difference , maybe not massively but regardless having even 2000 fans there for a club after not having any for so long will be a massive boost for the players.

Secondly, are you trying to tell me they will be able to keep 2000 shouting/slobbering scousers quiet ? How do they even stop that ? Shout shhhh at them every minute ?

Of course they will probably allow fans at racing...

I thought infections were rising? This is too soon imo. How will they stop fans gathering in groups before or after a game. What about the huge queue for the tram that usually forms outside OT? (Not that we can have fans atm)

I think fans should be at all grounds in a league, or none. Even if they can't chant or sing the can still clap etc. Imagine Liverpool playing us at Anfield with fans vs them playing us at an empty OT. Even if just a few fans, after having them away for so long it will give them a boost while OT will be less intimidating for them without fans.

I'd imagine those selected to attend will be balloted from season ticket holders as they will have all their contact info so be easier for tracking and also season ticket holders are likely to be deemed more trust worthy. I'd imagine there will be no food/ drink served

I remember that game in Turkey a few weeks ago, there was a huge amount of whistling by the few fans which I am sure the players could here. 2000 will make a bit of difference.

Fans would make some difference but not much.

But isn't there a slight issue of revenue as well? Tier 3 clubs would argue they are continuously losing money whilst others can start making money through no fault of their own.

1) I have no idea how they think they're going to enforce no singing or shouting.

2) Complaining about a small number of fans finally being allowed into stadiums after this shitshow of a year seems extremely petty. I really couldn't care less. If having 2000 fans in attendance (approx 1/30th of what they usually play in front of at Old Trafford) is enough to substantially impact our players then my sympathy is going to be very limited.

No singing, no shouting etc.

Won't make any difference whatsoever.

However, the tier system used in the UK is incredibly flawed and I wouldn't be surprised if this was to cause a backlash in the infection rate in the areas that allow fans back in.

The same goes for the silly Christmas period suggestion of mixing between families but that's another thread.

To be fair to the UK government, everybody is making it up as they go along. These are unprecedented times.

It's the lack of common sense that's worrying.

Yeah I find it hard to believe that you get a group of people in the stadium and not end up with them shouting at the very least. Getting chants is a bit harder with the distancing in my experience.

Worth noting that in France we were not informed we couldn't sing or shout. Its just pointless. We were however wearing masks at games before the second lockdown.
