Good win. It still doesn't change my mind. Ole may publicly not say anything about the goals conceded but the first goal is a coaching issue.
How is that a coaching issue? That corner is as dangerous as they come and its not like he was not challenged for the ball.

A quality delivery like that you cant really blame on anyone. Not the defenders, not the manager and not the keeper

Well right now we are competing - but we still have a bunch of fans not behind the team or the managers. Its a disgrace
Having reservations about the manager is not a disgrace. It is natural considering Ole hasn't even reached the level of the person he replaced.

But there’s not a single United fan who doesn’t want to win a league title and win all our games?

I don’t understand this ‘demanding results’ nonsense. It’s a phrase used to cover toxic behaviour and culture of entitlement.

This season has been a perfect example of that. People being negative about absolutely everything doesn’t help the players or manager. We’re in uncharted waters, there has never been a season this condensed with a lack of preseason before, we cannot accurately predict what will happen. No one can.

We all demand excellence, we all expect to win but the reality is the squad aren’t capable of that yet. We’re getting there but we have visible flaws. Having a tantrum when we don’t win doesn’t help and it’s certainly not “demanding results”, it’s being a twat.
I agree with most of your points. But I don't see what's wrong or toxic about expecting a title challenge. There's nothing malicious about it.

We've been floating around 6th place since Fergie left. We've spent hundreds of millions. We have a good squad as a result. Ole has been in the job for two years. The league is wide open with no obvious front runner. We should be mounting a title challenge. What's wrong with expecting that?

So if I get this straight - now the criticism against OGS is that our squad is so good that if he doesn't get us top-4 he should be sacked .
While a year ago - he should be sacked because our squad was so poor.

So by spending roughly £100 million - he has turned our squad from one considered of the worst United-teams in P.L history, into a squad so great that top-4 should be guaranteed. (in less than 12 months)

Doesn't that only say that he has done brilliantly in the transfer market ? Imagine how good we can be if he is given 2 transfer windows more, and some serious backing
Every fan has their own opinions. You're making a wide generalisation to support your point.

It would be truly cathartic if the fan base could agree that the team OGS inherited was incapable of playing consistent title challenging football, that it’s a relatively lengthy process and requires some luck to reach such a level, and that Ole has delivered demonstrable steps already towards that end point.

Todays win is yet another marker on that journey: this squad loves the playing for him and will walk through walls using his Methodology to win games.

I can’t accept anyone as a Manchester United supporter who won’t fully support this phase of our history. They are a truly corrosive bacteria feeding on our club right now.
Very well said. And I say this as someone who isn’t 100% confident Ole can take us all the way back to the top. I can however see the progress we have made over the last 2 years and can only admire his dedication and hard work. He’s put together a fantastic squad and the difference between us now and 2 years ago is night and day.

Not many have (or will) reach Jose's level, it's perhaps not the fairest manner in which to Judge Ole' ability as a coach.

I wouldn't say we made it hard for ourselves, i never expected an easy game, we aren't going to dominate for 90 minutes. It wasn't anything special but I thought we were the better team in the first half, i might be wrong but i can barely remember a decent chance from open play for them. We were more comfortable than the last game in July throughout which is a positive sign.
Yes I'd agree re the July game although there is a clear quality divide individually between the two teams, which is why it was frustrating to watch how we approached the game. I think that's my main gripe with the aforementioned games (as well as today) where we made it hard for ourselves with our setup. There is a definite trend of starting too cautiously and then improving once the attacking substitutions have been made and we're chasing a goal. There's a balancing act between acknowledging Hasenhuttl has done a great job with them & also acknowledging they don't really have any top class attacking players or options off the bench.

At least it was entertaining, just watched Spurs/Chelsea and Spurs just camped in their half for the last 45mins...

Thanks to Ole.
Thanks to everyone at the club involved in scouting, buying, negotiating etc.
And not least the management. Absolutely.

But the poster was making an argument about our squad being “bad/shit/amazing” depending on the argument, which is true both ways. I was having a discussion the other day with someone defending Ole to the hilt because this squad is the 5th/6th best in the league.

My only point is that the squad is superb.

It's amazing how fickle our fans our. Since Bruno came in, P38, W25 D7 L6 - That's equivalent to 82 points and is pretty good for a side that is labelled "inconsistent".

And before people start saying that Ole In guys give excuses whenever we lose, the thing is today we should've won by atleast 2-3 goals. We were comfortably better, the FK was a WC goal and any other day, Mason, Rashy and Bruno would score off their chances

Right, I’ll hold my hands up as someone firmly in the Ole out club. Fair plays to Ole today because the changes made a difference. When we went 2 down I had a feeling of inevitability about a defeat following some good results. But we played well against a good side.
This one result won’t change my mind, but I enjoyed watching United today (some dodgy defending aside). And Canvani looks a beast in a red shirt!

That's my issue with a lot of the criticism on here. You would think that other teams are playing great football for 90 mins from what you read on here but when you actually watch them it's far from the case.

Jose's level at United.
Jose's record with United is hardly something to write home about. The second-placed finish was by far his best accomplishment (if you can call it that), even then we didn't look like a quality side at any point during that season.

We looked a better outfit last season than at any point during Jose's tenure, in my opinion, so you could say Ole has already surpassed his predecessor in that regard. Opinions on that are highly subjective though.

5 points behind top spot with a game in hand, hopefully the good form can continue.
But we have the shittest manager in the league, and had the worst unforgivable start to a season ever.
Imagine if Ole got good?!

And that's the problem, you can't quite trust this side.
Not quite, but its getting better. This team are learning how to solve problems, so even when things go against us - and they well - the fact that we are winning from losing positions so often now is a very encouraging sign

Great result today, overjoyed with the mental fortitude that the players out there showed to come back and win it, but it still goes to show how reliant we are on the individuals that are on the pitch and their quality on the day.

I've touched on this before, but to me it's fascinating how much the CDM role changes depending on who's playing there. When Matic plays there he plays in his way, when Fred plays there he does his thing, when McTominay plays there he does what he likes to do in that role. When Telles plays LB we put in a lot more crosses (regardless of the recipient) than when Shaw does. When Cavani plays he plays like a proper striker and makes proper strikers' runs, and when Martial plays there he comes short to receive the ball in deep positions. I mean, surely there has to be some idea as to what the coaching team wants the CDM to do in a certain phase of play? How can it change that much depending on who's occupying the position?

I'm still at the point where I don't see the coaching improving players or instructing them to play in a certain way, other than their own preferred playing style. It's still like the team gets told to "go out there and have fun" every time they enter the pitch, and depending on who's on the pitch that "fun" looks different every week. Still of the opinion that an Ole team will never be better than the sum of their parts, and with this current board we're never going to spend our way past the teams above us.

It is encouraging to see the side win games from a losing position (4 times already this season), you could argue that finding ourselves in those losing positions is an issue within itself. Today especially, we were by far the better team on reflection and should never have found ourselves 2-0 down after 45 minutes.

Think it’s first time we won down there in last 3 seasons is it? Great victory, totally deserved we should have scored at least 2 in first half. We are right in the mixer for title race albeit less than 10 games in but I can’t see how any one has much to complain about right now we are looking good and getting better all the time.

We are very fragile at the back at times.

Think the start to the season then spurs game put so much pressure on them.

Then again I feel like they've massively improved and Maguire looking close to his best again.

If we can stop the silly goals we will win games a lot easier.

I'm not overly concerned. It will happen from time to time simply because there are dangerous players everywhere in this league. Sometimes you are just going to concede.

It would be an issue if we were coming out half asleep, and that has been a problem on occasion with this team, but its one that is going away of late.

Think that people underestimate the importance of actually caring about your job as opposed to see it as nothing more then a job. Which is strange considering most of us have been there in our lives. And which makes that argument about another club in EPL not willing to take him pretty dumb.

He may not be the most tactically astute manager out there, but there are other ways to compensate for some of it. Whichever way you look at it, he is doing a solid job so far. And if and when he leaves us one day, the team will be in a better place then when he took it.

You mean 4th with an expectation of finishing 5th due to our poor start compared to Spurs? I still see it the same. Good results today though so we have a better chance of top 4.

Not bad for a manager who isn't even good enough for Molde as well now apparently

Their first goal was perhaps bit frustrating, and needs work on how to deal with on training ground. But even then, other teams spend years on working up such set pieces as its their only way of scoring. Second goal was unstoppable. Sometimes you just put up your hand and say its was just brilliant.

My issue in first half was Greenwood and Bruno both missing easy shots on goal. Martial and Rashford have been equally guilty in previous games this season. Our attackers have to eliminate this wastefulness. Perhaps that can be improved on training ground, but it's down the the players and not coaches to solve this.

We all would rather we win a title sooner rather than later but I think people are getting more and more unrealistic the closer we get to the 10 year mark. I don’t think it has anything to do with where we’re at as a squad or who the manager is, it’s 10 years that’s the problem.

And I don’t agree with this notion of “okay, we’ve had enough now, you must win all your games and win a major trophy” just because we’ve been floating around 6th for the last 8 years.

The current situation is the closer we’ve been to getting the band back together and people are now talking about this season being a title challenge or bust. It’s slightly unrealistic considering we didn’t really sign any players this summer that walked into our first team (yet).

I would love all these things to speed up of course but we have to be cautiously optimistic. It becomes malicious at a point though, you can see that if you jump on Twitter right now and have a look at the tweets surrounding our game at half time or this place at half time.

Ole schooled another cafe darling today.

How many is that now? Pretty much every manager that is a better coach than him apparently and every manager wanted to replace him.

Cavani for Greenwood. Are you kidding me Ole. Feck off.
We need two or more goals and you are too afraid to take off a midfielder.
2-0 down and we bring off our best finisher instead one of our four midfielders. Hard to believe.
basically destroyed any credibility you ever had in the first place.

But of an ‘oops‘?
