Out of that entire post, you choose to argue the toss about the meaning of the word 'plenty'?

Really, just let it go. Not everything has to be an argument because people on the Caf don't side with your opinion on something.
Show me one person that's offended. Just one.

What I said went over your head
Well then I dont understand what we are debating.

Investigating Cavani is like investigating an English speaking player who says 'black business owner' because of the word 'black'.

Yeah different from the Suarez stuff as it's very "innocently said" but still not great. I get that it's part of their culture... but it's such a backwards thing and needs to be stamped out of every culture. Shouldn't get anything big, but at least a 1 game ban wouldn't surprise me unfortunately. Anyway, one of those where he should just take whatever punishment comes, apologizes in terms of using the word/not knowing the culture, and move on.

Where did I say Cavani should be investigated? You like arguing with yourself?

You replied to me so surely you should know why you did?

Suarez kicked a man because he's black, he could call evra a french born African descent and still be a racist cnut in my book.

If any of you draw any similarity with cavani thanking his friend in his native language then you really need to recheck on your view of racism

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)
Context is definitely everything, but as I posted above. People should stop talking about it as if it doenst have any negative connotations in latin america itself because it does.

Even in England and the US the word negro itself isnt bad by itself its the way its been used. Like calling black music Urban. There is anything wrong with the word urban. Its the context. Anyway as the Suarez case showed the word can be used in a negative way and together with a slur And that happens in Latin America.

Overall though Cavani should get a warning and be told not to use it here
Agreed about the warning part. It should be a made absolutely clear to all Spanish speaking players to never use any variation of that word under any circumstances. I suppose those who aren’t fluent in English aren’t allowed to express themselves in their own languages. Ironic in a way.

some posters are saying that he might get a one game ban

i guess that someone is thinking something along that way
Or that some are thinking the FA will act on it...
Literally no one is saying he said anything with any malice

Ralf Rangnick.
So the lesson to be learned here, is don't speak spanish if you play in an english league?

Wankers.
Pretty much.

Deserves to be on cloud nine after his performance earlier, and this nonsense is what social media are going on about instead, trying to get him banned.

Wankers sums it up. Whole country full of them.

This the ideal opportunity for the FA to prove that they have a broader sense of cultural awareness. Football is after all a world game and so is the Premier League. There was nothing sinister or racist behind the intention of Cavani's post (from my understanding of interpretations provided by Spanish speakers on here).

Mate, i call my wife “negra”
we call our friends “negro” or “negrito”
to use it as a racist term you need to accompany the word negro with an insult
else, it isn’t a racist term
Who called it a racist term? Again another person who argues with themselves. Ive simply said it not always a term of endearment and can have negative connotations (of which I have first hand experience). Take from that what you will

No I meant that it is used negatively in the region as well as a term of endearment. Depends who is saying it and in what context

"It's such a backward step"?

Another language/culture can say something they think is a term of endearment and another culture/country can not only tell them they're wrong but that they're backward?

Wow.
