The player has been quoted as saying United is his dream destination due to Tony Valencia's history with us. It's an open shut case and the only way we fail to sign him is if we hesitate or try to be too clever with the offer.
Yeah hopefully Tony can big us up even more to him, also the chance to play with Pogba even if only for a few months

The absolute first attribute we should be looking for when signing new players is determination and willpower, a la Bruno. Players who don't sulk when things aren't going right.
If this lad has that in addition to his skills in the videos - we should be all over this.

These are the kind of players we should be targeting, promising players from lower leagues, 10M are peanuts.

Who is Tim Vickery?
South American correspondent and journalist for various news outlets. On Talkport, Sky and BBC quite a lot.
Lives in Brazil. A real authority on South American football

Do you reckon there is a chance of us doing this deal in January then
i hope so but I don’t follow South American football. Given the fact Pogba will most likely be here till the end of the season If there’s something to play for there over the coming months maybe he is better waiting until the summer. He’s not the metronomic passer and calming influence we need in there as a Matic replacement but as a Pogba box to box/rotation for Fred/something different at DM at that price it’s a very good deal. We will always make our money back on such a cheap deal anyway. I’m so glad we are looking at players on the up. Having lots of cash means feck all when you’ve got no vision.

I personally don't think we should wait until the summer when he's available now at such a good price. We will only end up gutted if we delay and West Ham step in now.

Or we could do the deal and let him stay there until the summer break. What's important is to get him signed up first.

Yeah that isn't a bad idea and at least would mean we have secured the deal

Who is Tim Vickery?
english journo who lives in Brazil and knows alot about the footie down south america. He's been based down there since the 90's, married a brazilian bird if i remember correctly. He is a Spurs fan.

First heard of this lad from his articles in World Soccer magazines (magazines. remember those?) i used to buy in the late 90's. He then propped up in the world football phone on BBC 5 Live in 2002, still doing it to this day i think

His vast extensive knowledge of football in South America is quite well known now, he's often invited by British media channels to give his take on all South American football matters

And like all fans he doesnt he all predictions correct when it comes to these sorts of thing ;)

Why? Pellistri didn't have any, and I'm not sure he's a Uruguyan international.
Caicedo is an international player for Ecuador, so hopefully he’d be able to get a work permit. But we got the twins from Brazil once they turned 18 as special talents, so there’s certainly a good history of being able to do so.

His predictions have been off the mark plenty of times like most fans in that regard but he's a good source of info for South American football. I used to listen to his weekly phone in show on the BBC hosted by Dotun Adebayo, years ago.

Seeing some people say he would be put into the U23's ala Pellistri but I really do not expect that to be the case.

Read that he has been capped for Ecuador and had a supposedly stellar performance against a great team very recently (Argentina?)

Looking at the scouting reports and seeing the qualities he clearly possesses, this guy could very likely be thrown straight into the first team squad and eased in.

He's definitely still quite raw but he reminds me so much of Ramires when he joined Chelsea. Think he could have a good impact on the team this season if we bring him in.

Agreed. With EL games coming up we should definitely sign him in January. Play him every EL game and let him get used to the team and the league.

Would be good if West Ham bought him. And then also bought Aaron Mooy.

Mooy, Moyes, Moises.

To be fair, Vickery tends to say positive things about every player coming out of South America.
TBF he gives an honest assessment rather than positive for the sake of it. Most players linked to European clubs would have to be decent don’t you think? I’ve heard him give the ‘negative’ as well.

I’d be inclined to rate Vickery’s opinions, in fairness. I’ve seen him pour cold water on players/deals he isn’t convinced about. I recall him being unconvinced that Lucas Silva was ready to sign for us when we were linked with him. He wasn’t saying Silva was a bad player, just that he wasn’t quite ready to play for Utd at that time. I guess my point is: for the most part, he calls it like he sees it, in my opinion.

Deary me. You’ll be an absolute treat if you ever get promoted, won’t you?

For the prices I've seen mentioned this seems like a deal similar to Pellistri, worth a punt as he looks to have some potential.

Tim Vickery is brilliant, not sure why people are downplaying his views. He’s one of the best football journalists on the planet.

I mean you literally would not be able to get a more informed opinion than his, on anything to do with South American football.

Caicedo 6mil and Bissouma (Dan james +18m) in
Brighton seems to be interested in James

Lingard 10-15mil and Pogba 45-50mil out

That’s about a 30mil+ profit

That would be a very positive January window for our midfield
