It was clear as daylight since August 2020 that Jack Grealish was one of the best creating forwards in the PL.

Last season in the summer against Arsenal he was unstoppable. All of us who saw that match knew he was the real deal. In my book he’s probably one of the most certain things you can buy in today’s transfer market. Unfortunately he will cost a fortune if we’re interested.

He would be perfect for us. Can play in any attacking position except as a striker.

Outside the pitch he’s a little bit crazy but hey...I can live with that.

If we were to sign him he'd still be that Bruno/Pogba alternative

As good as he is for Villa I just don't see why any of our fans would want to swap our statistically more productive players (Rashford on the left, Bruno in the 10) for him
Grealish would be still better alternative for the right side instead of playing James or Van de Beek there, but until Ole will finally solve the Pogba conondrum (sell or keep), Sancho or even Pellistri could be the real answer to the right side.

Everything probably depends if Grealish wants to come here, that would equal less partying, less alcohol and just focusing on title race and at some point perhaps he could achieve it. Doors still not closed.

Shame no journalist can extract the information from Ole what will be prioritised in two upcoming windows. They may just surprise us like they did last time with Cavani and Pellistri.

Not sure about him on the right tbh, same as playing Rashford there, square peg in a round hole

Ideal scenario, 2 CB's who can defend 1v1 and a beast of a DM and play him and Bruno as 2 number 10's

If Greenwood can unlock his full potential sooner than later we might just have luxury to wait for Grealish/Sancho price to drop completely and focus fully on solid CB and DM.

There's another thing, if we manage to release Lingard, Pereira and even loan out James then at some point it could create space and finances for one more player like Grealish.

Yep, Denis Zakaria as the DM and Konate as a CB and we give it a decent chance of working.

Grealish to me is a Manchester United player playing for another club. A classic Fergie signing.

Aouar isn't fit to lace Jacks boots.
One of them has bossed it in the CL. Aouar is only 22 at that age Grealish was in the Championship. At the same age Aouar is a far better player than Grealish was and with Pogba leaving would fit in far better too for the price.

Think Grealish has stepped it up this season to a level that Aouar would be happy to reach. Not a slight on Aouar, but Grealish is just consitently the best player on the pitch in every game I've seen him play this season.

I agree Grealish is a very good player however to say Aouar couldn’t lace his boots when he’s done far more than Grealish at the same age is disrespectful.

In 3 years time I fully expect Aouar to be regularly challenging in the champions league for a top European side as he looks stunning from a technical standpoint and is getting better and better. He would also be available for a lot less than Grealish as Ligue 1 TV rights deals are causing havoc for clubs finances and I can’t see Lyon holding on much longer.

Grealish would now easily cost £70m plus and that’s on the lower side for someone who would be a first team squad player. Now say we get £50m for Pogba maybe then it would be worth considering but Grealish is a square peg for a round hole at the moment.

As someone who watched every single match Jack has played in, his performances have been remarkably consistent since the 2017/18 season. He's definitely matured and improved in many aspects since then, but the biggest thing that changed in that time has been the level Aston Villa have been playing at. If you had dropped him from 3 years ago into any top team he would perform at the level he is now I'd imagine.

I’d respectfully disagree.

He’s improved immensely since 17/18 because he’s doing it against better opposition I don’t think 17/18 Grealish is anywhere near the level of consistency, creativity and talent as he is now at his peak.

Grealish would not have been in control of champions league games at 21/22 like Aouar. He was only just finding his groove.

Rating our signings yet compared to Wolves Benito? ;)
What do you mean? I don’t recall ever making a comparison?

If I was disparaging of your signings then I apologise and applaud how well the club has done so far.

For what it’s worth I’ve been really stunned by the job Dean Smith has done and Villa should be really proud of keeping hold of Grealish and making such amazing progress as a unit. Key signings have had their year to embed and you’ve finally bought a mobile striking threat to replace Wesley who was a useless hold up player.

I have nothing but praise for this Aston Villa side and it’s nice to see a Midlands club with their history competing well again.

Wolves are missing Jimenez greatly and have been awful as they are playing far too conservative football to compensate 15 goals is woeful and losing Jota hasn’t been adequately replaced by Neto yet who despite his dribbling stats isn’t yet the attacking force they are missing.

I think Grealish at Villa is doing an amazing job too for the record he’s a great player and would improve most sides with his ball carrying/retention and creativity and were he not a complete dickhead who I believe would negatively infulence the dressing room due to his drinking habits and careless entitled nature I would love a player of his skill at the club.

@FootballHQ I believe you are referring to this post
Does seem to be a jealous Midlands vibe to it.

This is the kind of signing Villa could only dream of. Instead they’ve got probably the most useless ST in the league.
At the time you hadn’t signed a striker and had Wesley who I would stand by being arguably the most useless starting striker in the league and Wolves had just signed Fabio Silva who will be a big success when he develops he’s been thrown in at the deep end too soon which isn’t his fault.

Watkins then signed 4 days later and I’ve never once been critical of him.

I stand by my comments at the time Aston Villa would have done well to attract Fabio Silva to the club at the time of me posting.

I think the biggest thing that's changed with him is physically. He's an absolute tank now whereas he was quite slight between 2015 and 2017. When he came back from that weird kidney injury in 2017 he looked to have bulked up a bit more and his game just rose to the next level. I keep saying this, but it reminds me of Bale in 2012. They always had the talent, but when they added the explosive physicality they become nigh on unstoppable.

If he learns to just pull the trigger when he gets the chance a la Ronaldo I actually think he'll be world class. A world class player at Aston Villa.
Comments like this are why football has gone to shit.

World Class players should be sprinkled throughout teams and leagues. It’s a romantic idea. But Grealish staying was really good for Him, Villa, and football.

Definitely he’s grown into a man rather than his boyish slight frame now and has the athleticism and strength to play to his best ability.

From what I remember I was raising the point of Wolves spending so much on Fabio Silva (FWIW I've watched him a few times now and he's very raw as you expect for his age but has decent movement so could be a decent prem striker in 18 months...) and basically was told a jealous Midlands fan could only dream of signing such a player....

To avoid watching 360 minutes of the Wolves-Man. United games from last season in a dark room please tell me you were on about Wesley....:D

Edit: Sorry Beni only read your first post and didn't see the one below that.

He is very raw, phisically isn't ready for the intensity of the League but he actually offers one solution that I don't see so much in Jimenez, he is able to link well outside of the area with the other players and connect play.

But yes I don't know if they will be patient to wait for him to develop if they keep losing. Another important thing, even with Jimenez they already were struggling, we was constantly isolated, imagine now a rookie player who is tasting his first real experience on professional football, I mean even Jota struggled playing the way they play. Nuno model limitation perhaps?

Not going to comment the rest though, it's quite obvious they are going to finish behind Villa, they have to suck it up this season.

But sorry this topic is about Grealish, I may have bad memory here but I seem to remember a long time ago on Sporting Forum some supporters at the time who used to watch a competition who was replaced by Uefa Youth League, think it was Next Generation Series, at the time he already was popular for the followers of youth football.

I am certainly suspect but I don't buy the theory that he needs to play at a Champions League level club to become World Class, even if the concept of World Class it's debatable this days.

I wish there were more trades in the premier league.

Lindgard + Jones + James on loan + 50 million = Grealish.

We need a ball carrier desperately.

Shame he isn't playing on the right regularly...why is it so hard to find someone to play RW at United!

But yeah Jack is quality.

It's obvious that if he plays for a bigger club then he would have more space and time too.

He's such an utter twat of a person and a football player.

Shit he's good though, I want to sign him badly and worry about him going to a rival.

An absolute tosser off the pitch and probably lacks the sort of professionalism to go to a big club because of his off the pitch antics, but what a fecking player!

get rid of Lingard, James, Peirera and Mata and go get him!

He was good I have to admit. Don't like him though. Would change immediately if he played for us.

He’s like a character off Geordie Shore or something, that’s how annoying he is. But he is really really good, had our attention the whole evening. Always always does the right thing.
