Manchester City Football Club (nicknamed City, The Citizens, and The Sky Blues), are a professional football club based in Manchester, England. City were founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before being renamed as Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887, and finally Manchester City in 1894 - and the origins can be traced back to members of St. Mark's Church of England, West Gorton — who founded the football club that would become known as Manchester City, for largely humanitarian purposes. Two church wardens sought to curb local gang violence and alcoholism by instituting new activities for local men, whilst high unemployment plagued East Manchester, specifically Gorton. All men were welcome to join, regardless of religion.

The team's first recorded match occurred on 13 November 1880, and City gained their first honors by winning the Second Division in 1899 — with it came promotion to the highest level in English football, the First Division. In the seasons following the FA Cup triumph of 1904, the club was dogged by allegations of financial irregularities, culminating in the suspension of seventeen players in 1904, including captain Billy Meredith, who subsequently moved across town to Manchester United. Almost half a century later later, a City team inspired by a tactical system known as the Revie Plan reached consecutive FA Cup finals again, in 1955 and 1956; just as in the 1930s, they lost the first one, to Newcastle United, and won the second. The club continued to challenge for honors throughout the 1970s, finishing one point behind the league champions on two occasions and reaching the final of the 1974 League Cup.

Prior to the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the club had enjoyed moderate levels of success through their history — however, since the start of the current decade, City have been buoyed by the signings of Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, David Silva, Vincent Kompany — and have emerged as perpetual title contenders Vincent Kompany winning the league four times and repeatedly finishing in the Top 3. City play their homes games at the Etihad Stadium, and their biggest rivals are neighbors and opponents for the game, Manchester United.

Friday to Wednesday is a good gap. This match has to be prioritised with the Watford match getting the alternate XI. Really looking forward to it and hoping the boys can get us to the final.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Rashford Bruno Pogba

Really want to win a trophy this season, and this is going to be a huge game IMO. Covid has hit them so who knows how much of an impact it'll have.

Rotate in Henderson, Tuanzebe, Telles, Matic, Mata, VdB, James, Greenwood etc for the FA Cup game vs Watford.

In their current state and COVID, our best chance to get past them. This can be a pretty nice trophy to warm up for our title challenge this season ! Get it in.

Im assuming it’s just one leg? Gotta go strong and rotate massively in the FA Cup.

Not sure about McTominay or Matic to partner Fred. Probably Henderson for De Gea as well. Every other player that started against Villa should start.

    Henderson
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Rashford Bruno Pogba
    Martial

Looking forward to it. United owe them one for the league cup semi final exit last season. I don't see many changes to the starting 11, perhaps Matic for McTominay.

Without covid we beat them with our first team. They are not the city that had Aguero, Toure and Silva terrorizing us.

Will Kyle Walker & Gabriel Jesus be back for them or are they still self isolating?

Bring in Tuanzebe, Telles, Williams, Matic, Van de Beek, Mata, Greenwood and maybe James for the Watford game

Wouldn't be as confident as others. This is their trophy over the last few years, 3 in a row and 4 of the last 5. They practically own this competition.

Wouldn’t make too many changes for this one as it’s a one legged semi final against a City side that will be missing a couple of players. Maybe Henderson and Matic in for De Gea and McTominay.

The Watford game can have a fair number of changes with the likes of Tuanzebe, Telles, Mata, Van De Beek, James, Greenwood all starting. Even a final Old Trafford appearance for Ighalo against his former club before he heads back to China.

Same team as Villa except Henderson deserves to keep his place in goal for cups. Maybe Greenwood instead of Rashford.

Rotate hard in these two cup games if we have any interest in challenging for the league. People underestimate the fact that we’ll have 10 games in January most likely which can leave us dead on our feet by the end of it? Do you really want to throw a real title challenge for this cup? Hopefully Ole is smart enough to recognize this and rests Bruno/Martial/Rashford/Fred/Pogba/Baily.

I wouldn't make many changes. Matic in for McTominay maybe.

5 days rest for us vs 3 days rest for City after Chelsea game away. Good chance for us.

    Then rotate vs Watford.

    Can't wait.

City play Chelsea Sunday so we have 2 days extra rest. They also have the covid issue.

Huge chance for us to get to our first final under Ole. It won't be an easy game though. I'm going for another 2 1 win for us.

    Come on Utd.

Chance of a cup final. We are getting more rest than City so may as well go for it. We can rest some against Watford.

All I ask is no Bruno/Rashford to start against either city or Watford.

We need to go all out to win this. It would be awful to get a reputation for bottling semi-finals.

A reasonable break (by current standards!) beforehand, so I don’t see the need for rotation other than for good tactical reasons.

    Bring it on
