Let's see how he adapts to English football before we label him the next big thing and heap too much pressure on his shoulders
From the clips he looks incredible, but we cant expect miracles straight away, exciting signing none the less
Amad doesn't need that kind of negativity around him mate. Ballon d'Or 2021, guaranteed.

He's gonna have to self-isolate for 2 weeks when he lands here right? Or will he be able to go straight to training with the first team?

I think he gets an exception because of elite sport.

He needs to go out on loan to the Championship or a League One team. Build him up a bit and get a bit of game time.

Perhaps some netball with Tracey Neville.

Seems weird they would want to keep him considering he has only played about 30 mins for them this season.
that is only 30 minutes more than I have played for United this season. Why have we even bought him ?

I'd rather him stay here and embedded with our coaches, drills, facilities and teammates rather than outcast himself and playing in the lower leagues.

I'm pretty sure he hasn't got to self isolate. It's a bit like the clubs when they go play in Europe against other teams. As long as he's got his tests up-to-date etc, he'll be able to train straight away.

From The Athletic article on the twenty youth players to watch out for.

Great article and great write up from Carl Anka

Amad Diallo
Club: Manchester United
Age: 18
Position: Winger

Acquired on the summer transfer deadline, United’s acquisition of Amad Diallo raised a number of eyebrows. To the casual, United spending up to £37 million on a teenage right-winger after a failed months-long pursuit of another, more expensive, just turned 20 winger, looked like a panic move.

To those a little more au fait with Serie A, the raised eyebrows came from the timing of the move. People knew the young Ivorian was good and had the potential to be marquee signing in a few years time, but had United gazumped everyone by picking him now, and for that much money?

This will be the challenge for Diallo, who’s gone from a player drawing high eyebrows in September to drawing hushed tones and grand hype in January. And this is despite playing only 35 minutes for Atalanta so far this season.

So why has Diallo got everyone in a tiz? Simply put, the boy can dribble. As writer Kees van Hemmen observed in November last year, Diallo’s lighting quick acceleration, coupled with his change of pace and a surprisingly mature understanding of his body, means he can pick the ball up with his back to a defender before leaving them for dead on the turn.

Diallo can beat defenders with stepovers, nutmegs or just raw pace, and has shown skills in delivering either lofted crosses and drilled in balls from outside when creating chances for forwards (something that is more his forte at the moment, rather than finishing off moves).

The good news is that Diallo will be entering a relatively stable United squad this month. There will be no need to rush him into first team action, but if he’s as good as we think he is (and the eye test and spreadsheets suggest he could be rather good) then the 18-year-old will be getting senior team minutes for United sooner rather than later.

We’ll be working on a number of pieces covering Diallo in the weeks to come. Somehow, United have found a way to make their attacks even quicker.

Well, the obvious answer is we hope he is going to be a quality starter in the future.

Whether that happens depends on lots of things, he needs to have the right level of talent, the right attitude, to stay injury-free and support from the club in terms of good training and regular COMPETERTIVE minutes.

Getting all those things to come together is of course always a big ask though. So we will have to see.

No, he will isolate until his test results come back and if negative he can join.

Yeah totally agree on the bolded. Last thing we need is for the young lad to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders simply due to the fact our inept board have chosen to abandon signing a RW for over a decade.

Priority for me is just having that integration with the first team ahead of next season, with the hope things go well and he can get a couple of cameo's before the season is over.
Not having that. I'm expecting him to score winners vs all our rivals, have a well publicised fling with Rachel Riley and then win POTY by next season at least.

Think, he will ensure Sancho is not needed. Based on the zero minutes I have seen, he will be a huge hit for us.

Atalanta is a great club. They have a fantastic youth academy, they play great football and Gasparini had proved to be a top top manager for them. However, I don't understand why he want to keep Diallo. They barely ever played him.

That's rather a simplistic statement isn't it? Diallo on his own won't be the reason why we might not sign Sancho. However a combination of things could quite easily do that.

A- Mason Greenwood's stats on the RW is jaw dropping and unlike Sancho he's doing all of that in a top league
B- In my opinion the only reason Sancho should be considered is IF we need Greenwood upfront. That isn't the case anymore, at least in short term. Both Cavani and Martial can score goals.
C- There's question marks whether Greenwood can still be as effective as STK as he is as RW. Even among those whose who are in favour of moving Mason upfront there are people who think that at this stage it's better development wise for him to stick to regular football (ie RW) and away from the deep end (in the middle of our opponent's defence). That means that we don't need Sancho for the time being
D- Sancho has hardly set the Bundesliga on fire this year which is quite concerning considering that its a league were even the likes of Mkhitaryan and Kagawa can produce silly stats in. That wouldn't be an issue if he was worth 60m. Unfortunately Dortmund value him at twice that fee. Is it worth buying him for 120m considering that Haaland (the true star at Dortmund) will soon be available for half that price? Haaland's signing would mean keeping Greenwood in the position he's doing so well in and would ensure us a record amount of goals.
E- We've got some very promising kids coming up at RW ie Pellistri and Diallo. Should we clip their wings without barely even giving them a chance just to buy the shiny toy from Dortmund on silly money? Or should we spend that silly money in positions we don't already have a Greenwood/Diallo level of potential in like for example CB?

I read its because they think Papu Gomez is off, and wanted Diallo around as a back up (although I'm not sure he's ever played in the same role)?

I think the comment you replied to was a bit tongue in cheek.

However you do make some valid points.

Papu is more of an SS rather then a winger.

I get it. Atalanta were planning to send Diallo to Parma until we gate crashed the deal. That might have damaged the relationship between the two clubs which in turn pissed Atalanta off big time. Having said that Diallo is innocent from all of this and Atalanta could have easily refused United's offer if they wanted. Also after freezing Diallo out of the squad they hardly have a valid argument to persuade United to keep him there for a while longer.

Well it was a silly argument tbh. No one is expecting Diallo to just barge in and become a first teamer. He might do it because he's clearly talented + stranger things had happened in football but even the most avid Diallo fans like myself know that its improbable.

The reality is simple really. There's no manager in football history who can afford treating a newly signed 120m player as a reserve. That means that the likes of Diallo or Pellistri have zero impact on whether we sign Sancho or not, at least for the next few months or even years. If we don't buy Sancho its because we believe that Sancho doesn't represent value, that the Rashford-Greenwood-Martial/Cavani-Bruno combo is good enough AND/OR that huge lump of money can be better spent elsewhere. That should be the argument surrounding Sancho, nothing more, nothing less.

Would have been good to see him in a game like tonight. Our right hand side is so poor. Derived of real options.

Wish we could have got this done earlier in the week then would have had slim hopes of him making the bench on Sat

Oh my god why hasn't he come yet? I can't wait no more, I want to see the best player ever put on the red shirt come on already! And also that Caicedo guy, Woody pull your finger out of your arse and bloody do something. My inner muppet is killing me! And after that Sancho saga we're really due some positive activity!

Yeah this red tape is so frustrating to say the least
