A lot of this boils down to the pent up rage that there was a black man who was President.

That's pretty much what has happened. Obama winning led directly to Trump and everything he has bought with him.

Obama becoming President was supposed to show the world everything that was good about America and how far it has come from slavery.

Instead it showed how truly racist and full of hatred so many Americans are

Still confused I see?

If BLM protestors, liberals, or hell, my own brother tried violently storming the US Capitol, full to the brim with the US senate, ignored a barricade and warnings from armed secret service officers and police with their weapons out to stand down.... yes they'd deserve to be shot ffs.

You keep James O'Brien-ing it and trying to make it out as us v. them, when it's actually not at all about that. It's about people putting themselves in a situation where they are asking, no, demanding to be shot.
So do your protections only extend to politicians in the federal government or to local government or state government? Do judges get the right to have non-threatening invaders shot dead?

Whataboutism again?

Yes, the US senate in session in the US capitol is absolutely more important than a US judge. Sad but true.

Donald Trump is also way more important than me, it's why a mob attacking me, can get away with it. A mob attacking Trump will rightly be shot.

As for "non threatening", being in the US capitol with the senate in session and ignoring a barricade and armed police and secret service isn't threatening? with report of pipes bombs? yeah sure.

Stood trespassing, but arms clearly visible stood on the barricade. What a threat. Obviously deserved to die because other people were committing more serious crimes.

I thought this was about Pogba at first.
Graeme Souness blaming Pogba for yesterday's attack.

"Aye, you can talk about Trump's inflammatory rhetoric and the latent sociological divisions now rearing their ugly head.... but the question remains, what was Pogba doing???"

The amazing thing about all of this is that straight after the election both the Republicans and Trump were actually in quite a good position (annoyingly). They had won more votes than expected and increased their votes with women and minorities. The election was in no manner a total rejection of Trump and if he had left fairly graciously than ‘Trumpism’ might have made a return to politics very time soon. Now that is completely gone (I hope) , I can’t see a situation where the name Trump is taken seriously in politics anymore and almost certainly rules out his son or daughter ever becoming President.

I don’t agree with this at all. What this boils down to is that America has reached peak capitalism which is as flawed as peak communism. An oligarchy has emerged where billionaires not only own the politicians but also the media. The politicians keep the money flowing upwards and ensure the wealth is concentrated in an ever decreasing circle and the number of people outside that circle that are living in poverty is growing exponentially. This naturally results in a lot of anger, anger which the media have become very effective channelling not towards the real perpetrators but towards marginal groups and straw men, immigrants, Antifa, hollywood elites, Muslims, Soros ect ect. People who are painted to be enemies of America and against American exceptionalism. This brand of “patriotism“ is painted as somehow virtuous.

All of that before you even get on to religion and how that’s being used to radicalise rural and suburban America right now.

I’ve subsequently clarified my point. There was a serious delay in dealing with this. They left them unchallenged for far too long. Once they belatedly got the go ahead to start cracking heads they seemed to do this no less enthusiastically than usual. As per the video shared by @Eboue above.
Honestly even then I struggle to follow you. In many countries, European countries, the police would clatter everything in sight if a mob tries to forcibly enter parliament. I totally disagree with your sentiment here, the level of violence is fairly low when you consider the context even at an early stage. There is a reason why this kind of things rarely happen, it's because most people have the common sense to forsee the consequences and risks involved. Some of you are trivialising it by calling these people protesters.

Was she a threat to anyone at the moment she was shot? Could she have been removed without being shot?

If you know that she wasn't a real threat and a lesser amount of force could be used ask yourself why is it acceptable to use deadly force and why would people cheer for it?

My theory on this is that feet on the floor was left intentionally light and was probably a selection of Trump sycophants who knew what was coming. It was only when the security were deployed by external actors the force increased.

Remember that it was one of the most critical days in the American democracy calendar with all of congress present yet somehow they didn't have enough police present and intelligence somehow missed thousands of angry rednecks organising a protest?

The whole thing was by design, it might sound like a conspiracy but it’s Occam‘s razor. I’d love for someone to come up with a better explanation as to why they were so understaffed, underprepared, so slow to react and so accommodating when there was so much at stake.

Could you imagine the Houses of Parliament being over run like that?

I don't get this. Where are the people being led out in handcuffs? Why is no one being arrested?

Imagine this was a far left demonstration. There would be hundreds of arrests, tear gas, rubber bullets and armored vehicles all over the place. Trump or no Trump, American law enforcement is absolutely rotten to the core.
Some of the protests that took place in the last 12 months compared with a literal march on Capitol Hill? The difference is maddening, honestly.

50 something but they’re all suspected Antifa spies who infiltrated a peaceful demonstration.
 I'm sure they genuinely believe that too

Because her hands were clearly visible on the video.
The police officer wasn't watching the video, you don't know what he sees and you don't know what she had in her bag. And again it's worth remembering that pipe bombs were found in the Capitol.

I certainly hope this taints all members of his "clan" or anyone even loosely associated with him beyond any chance of a significant political career. Let them all go down with him. I wouldn't hold my breath though, anything is possible over there.

I don't see what the problem is either - she was no doubt warned but didn't listen. I'm just surprised and thankful more people didn't end up shot.

Isn't this exactly what the GOP would want at this point?
They can now come out all guns blazing against Trump and disown him as a party.

If they get rid of him before 2024 they'll be able to say "no no that was Trump's GOP, we're the normal GOP" in spite of everyone except Trump being there for both periods.

We should be thanking our lucky starts a politician didn't die yesterday. When they broke in, I was expecting the worst.

So at a barricaded door, in which the police and secret service with guns drawn had clearly drawn a "no-one passes" line, they should in fact just let anyone in if they can see their hands and show the angry mob that it's just an empty threat?

Wow, sure that would've worked out well.

That was a no cross line, and she was warned.

She wasn't at that moment was she?

Literally inside a building she wasn't allowed to be in. Defying police orders. Guns drawn telling her to go away. She climbs through a smashed window.

It's not a good thing she died, but what did she expect? I cant believe you are still trying to lie your way out of this one.

“Non threading invaders.” Wit?

Not for nothing, but the police were told there was guns among the crowd as well as an explosive device of some kind. its not rocket science, some one with a gun tells you to feck off, you put your nikes on and you feck off at top speed. You don’t smash through windows to get to them, and then start crying that you got shot participating in a terror attack. And that’s what this was, make no mistake about it. This was terrorist attack by the US federal definition:

U.S. Code of Federal Regulations
The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations defines terrorism as "the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives" (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85).

You need to follow my posts back to see the specific video I’m discussing. It was footage shot much later at night, on the streets, presumably enforcing curfew? This was separate to the extremely light touch policing in/around the Capitol earlier in the day.

At what point would she be classed as a threat in your eyes?

Her, and the rest of the protesters in that corridor are clearly being told to stand back and stop rushing the barricade. What she does beggars belief. She actually continues to climb through a smashed window to help an angry mob get further into the Capitol.

At what point is deadly force allowed in these scenarios? Once the protestors have taken hostages, because it would appear they had designs on getting the anti-Trump politicians, evidenced by the rooms they occupied once in the building.

How do you know that agent/police officer didn't have numerous, genuinely innocent people behind him whom he was trying to protect?

No one wants to see people get shot, but to paint this woman as some innocent bystander in a quite obvious attempt at a coup or at best destabilising the democratic process is mind boggling.

How is it the greatest and oldest? Even excluding obvious candidates for that title, it's actually Tynwald.
Let’s not be too pedantic to get caught up in if the adjectives are not quite right. There’s bigger issues at play here.
