Paine is a very good keeper and Australia have no other captains in their lineup. It’s too much work for a bowler.
He also did a very good job calming things down after the sandpaper controversy. There isn’t anyone knocking at the door waiting to replace him as keeper batsman or captain.

Ridiculous save by India. Vihari, Ashwin have both have been ridiculous. Absolute heroes.

Did not think India would have been able to top the MCG performance but they just did. What a brilliant performance to save the test. With the number of players out and the injuries to the playing 11 as well, its just brilliant.

When Rahane got out early and with Jadeja's injury, thought it would be done and dusted before lunch but very happy that i was wrong. Fantastic effort, would be amazing if they can win the last test and the series but with all these injuries, it ain't gonna be easy.

Wow just wow. Hats off to vihari and Ashwin. I called vihari the flop of the match but he has made me eat my words. Not going to lie, maybe just maybe if he was not injured we might have pulled this off.

Heard Australia have not lost at Gabba since 1988. Now are we going to do the unthinkable. Imagine losing a series to an injured army at home.

Australia is having a wet summer though and Brisbane could be pissing down.

Expect a green wicket and a high chance of a washed out draw imo.

Oh come on.. have standards fallen that far?

All he had to do was not be Smith or Warner. And the fact that there is no other option should be a major cause for concern.. because what they have right now is clearly not good enough.

Just checked the brisbane weather and it looks like there are thunderstorms predicted for day 3 and 4.

I love NZ and NZ cricket but would be amazing if the test championship is contested between India and Australia this summer in england. Also, on balance I feel these two deserve more. NZ very fortunate to play most of the matches at home.

Well if it's a green wicket with loads of swing, the match could very well be over before day 3.
Would have loved to see a proper battle between a full strength India and Australia on a green track. Bumrah, Shami, Ishant, Starc, Cummings, Hazelwood all swinging the ball around would have been a wonderful sight.

Every team played the same home and away but it is not a full round robin.

NZ just chooses or gets to play the easier teams, unlike Aus, India or Eng though that likely is an artifact of tv audiences.

The Kiwis have been kind screwed with the schedule though, they need more series in India, Australia and England.

Williamson is probably the best Test match batsmen in the world atm though.

Either Smith will get it back or Cricket Australia will give it to Labuchange

This is embarrassing behaviour and surely deserves some punishment. Pathetic.
A punishment for that.. unlikely..
A normal person would probably be embarrassed getting caught being a dick like that.. but Smith has done far worse.. He wont even care..

Alex Carey is probably the next man to be WK after Paine
Paine comes across as a good bloke generally and guess that was needed after the cheating scandal. But yeah Carey looks he has much more to offer.

Maybe Warner as captain next time? He did well with SRH didn't he?

Hate to be the one defending the Aussies but I don't see anything rule breaking by Smith there. Petty - yes. Punishment worthy - no.

Might as well give it back to Smith then

Not even sure if it was intentional by Smith

So team for next match if as expected vihari and Jadeja are out. I'll play rishabh as a specialist batsman and play Saha. Aggarwal or Shaw in middle order.

Just an over before the drop
Tim Paine haha. Being selected as captain because you were one of the only players not caught for cheating. We've definitely rattled their cages.

If Australia came to India without Smith, it'd be a whitewash.

Kinda agree.

Imagine Pant and Shaw getting together middle of the innings :D

Yeah, something needs to be done about the middle order now. I don’t know if Gill needs to be moved from opening slot. Given the next test is at Gabba, opening with Mayank or Shaw will be going in at 1/0. Can Pant play as a batsman with Saha as the wicket keeper?

Sharma
Gill
Pujara
Rahane
Pant
Mayank/Shaw <
Saha
Ashwin
Thakur/Saini/Natarajan
Bumrah
Siraj
