I'd really prefer to see Baily or Tuanzebe feature vs Liverpool. Lindelof and Maguire will invite Liverpool on to us. And please no Scott & Fred combination, it's worked for no Premier League big fixture for us.
He may go 3 at the back v Liverpool

Wouldn't it be great to win comfortably against Burnley, establish a 3 point advantage over 'pool with the same games played and then win at Anfield to go 6 points clear of them?
Next two are winnable against Fulham and Sheff U so by the time we get round to a revenge beating of the Arse we could be 8 or 9 clear up top!!
A guy can dream can't he

Not sure I'd agree with that approach but he's got us in a good position so I can't question it. Although he does need to refind his big game form, after the off performances against Arsenal, Chelsea, City x2, Spurs.

Agreed. It's a myth that we fail against the weaker sides - this season we have only really failed against Palace at home and Arsenal at home of weaker sides. We probably have the best record in the league against teams outside top-6
We've taken 31 out of 39 points against sides that aren't in the top-6 right now.

    Burnley against top-6 this year
12 points dropped (out of 12)
    Goals For: 2
    Goals Against: 11

I thought Cavani was still suspended?
Was suspended by the FA for 3 games. He missed our last 3 games: Aston Villa (League), City (League Cup) and Watford (FA Cup), so because all 3 were English games that's his 3 games served.

I'd definitely start VDB against Burnley, probably next to McTominay and hope we can just pass around them enough to put a few in. Save Fred for Liverpool where he'll have to do a ton of work. VDB isn't going to start against Liverpool and we need to pass and tire out Burnley so why not play him instead of 2 of Fred, McTominay and Matic?

Shaw and Lindelof make more sense to start against Liverpool anyways as Telles can hit crosses while we're camped in Burnley's half and Lindelof might struggle in the air against Wood.

If you figure Pogba is first choice at LW against Liverpool with Rashford on the right, that leaves Martial or Cavani up top in that game so the other plays 90 against Burnley along with Rashford (who you hope to haul off early along with Bruno or McTominay probably) and then I guess Greenwood on the right, though the last time a team parked the bus he looked an awkward fit. I guess I prefer James on the right if Cavani is up top trying to score on headers and tap ins and Greenwood if Martial is up top unable to get on the end of a cross most weeks but dropping deep and trying to link up quickly which does suit Greenwood better.
Not to disrespect or underestimate the opponent, but we should be able to play with Telles and any CB together w Maguire, and still win this. If in doubt, better save injured players for a Liverpool and play Tuanzebe plus Maguire and Telles.

If everybody is fit to play, Lindelof -Maguire for Liverpool and Bailly- Maguire for Burnley. The only risk with Bailly is that he is a little weak in the box, especially in the air, but he would fit in many other ways. Tuanzebe could be good enough for Burnley, but if everybody else is fit, he is a level below and fourth choice.

Or chosen for this week rather than later which had originally been expected
Better to get it out of the way ASAP and not get wrapped up in fixture congestion and we end up playing 3 games in days at the end of the season.

I’d be tempted to play Greenwood up top, if Pogba is fit he plays instead of Greenwood as they’re forward make me uncomfortable from crosses and corners.

I hope RBL taught him the error of that setup against teams that know how to press. We are much better trying to score than trying not to concede & Liverpool are without their best CBs, I saw they might be without Matip as well. My fear is Ole will revert to type in big games and setup cautiously which will make it a lot harder for us in my opinion.

I'm not so sure, has he ever done that? He's usually been pretty candid.
Maybe not intentionally, but he didn't give many specifics at the time. He's already said Lindelof and Shaw trained yesterday, and Pogba/Bailly could be in contention.

Didn't realize Cavani is back. Nice. Expect he'll start.
    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Rashford Bruno Martial
    Cavani

Hopefully we start off strong and have the luxury of subbing off some key guys before the weekend. Liverpool will have the full week to prepare so pretty big advantage for them.

    I'd be inclined to play:

    ----------------------------------De Gea----------------------------------------
    AWB---------Lindelof*-----------------------Maguire----------------Telles*
    ---------------------------------------Matic*---------------------------------------
    -----------------------------Bruno-----------Pogba----------------------------
    Greenwood*---------------------Cavani*----------------------Rashford

Then against Liverpool I'd bring in Bailly, Shaw, Mctom, Martial and Fred for the 5 players with * next to their names. Actually think these are the best teams against the relevant opposition.

I understand why a manager would do this but why do it for Burnley and not Liverpool, he even confirmed they should all be back for the Liverpool game but this game may be too soon for them. I don't think it's mindgames he's just being open about their fitness levels.

If Pogba is fit enough then start him on the left and move Rashford to the right. The extra height should help added with his obvious skill and guile.

I would like to see us dominate the midfield against these guys. This isn't a prediction but I wonder how it would work. Plenty of technical ability centrally with pace on the right and crosses from the left. Quick feet next to Maguire to play a high line so he can attack the lone striker and win the long-balls to sustain pressure. If we could keep a high line to maintain a compact shape, Pogba wont need to run and defend a lot and we can probably get away with him and Fred there if they can be disciplined to the shape, control the game with possession and win the ball high up the pitch.

Apparently Maguire is 1 yellow away from a suspension. Going to be have to be really careful or miss the Liverpool game.

I like this lineup except maybe with Bailly for Lindelof.
McT is critical for aerial duels in the mid and lower third with Fred and the other front players helping for winning second balls.
Cavani should be used as the last resort to try a different attacking method which is the least possible to work out because Burly is excellent to defend with low block to deal with long and cross balls.
Even if pogba can shake off the injury issue, please don’t play him in a diamond midfield which simply is not good for us.
