Poor dribbling, poor passing and poor finishing in this game. Poor link-up and poor decision making as well.

Overall a 2/10 performance.

The other players need to step up and help him. He was crap today but he had no help from martial or rashford.
Yeah this as well. It’s not like he can pop the ball off and play himself into a position to create, lack of movement across our midfield and forwards has been a problem for years.

So often he received the ball and didn’t have a clear pass forwards or option from a teammate, doesn't help that Scott and Fred are negative and sit back for the majority. Which literally leaves you with your wingers and forward to find, hence a lot of the rushed forward passes.

Don't play him next week. Fulham and Liverpool in fa Cup. Just leave him on the bench and give him a break

Should of played Pogba in his position and bought in Greenwood. No good playing a player drastically out of form who cant string basic ground passes together.

he needs a week off.

our best player by far for a year now. A couple of games below HIS STANDARDS and some over here start hammering him and singling him out for criticism. He didn’t have a terrible game. Who from the attacking players had a great game? All were average due to the game tactics. Still, he had a couple of shots on target. He’s probably tired and needs some rest. He deserves it. I also don’t mind his reaction when getting subbed. It ends there. It’s actually good to see players passionate to play and contribute like this. Like i said, it ends there, he’s a player with great attitude on and off the pitch. Proper leader

Has he performed in a big league game yet? He deserves to have off days, he has earned them, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I wish people kept this in mind before declaring him as important or good as some of our great former players.
City at home last season was decent.
...

Needs to re-learn that every pass doesn't need to be either an assist or a world-beating trick pass. Also, IMO, especially in big games, needs to play deeper once he learns that, otherwise there's no way to play against a press with Fred and McT.

Good freekick in the 1st half and did all he could with the chance off Shaw's cross, it was a good save from Allinson, but his passing was erratic today, he's a bit of a turnover machine when his passing is off.

I’m willing to be wrong but I’m not convinced that ‘tantrum’ was directed towards the coaching team. It’s more than possible he was still gobbing off at Wijnaldum.

Poor today but the overreaction is ludicrous, as one would expect. When he’s out of the team we’ll know about it.
Think you're right.

Ole gave him a high-five as Bruno was walking past on the sideline, doubt he'd have done so if Bruno had been mouthing off about him or the bench.

Just frustrated with his own performance and not having the opportunity to make amends / Wijnaldum. Nothing to read into beyond an emotive player who fell short of his own high standards.

He’s also on the brink of a yellow card suspension for spending the first half of the season gobbing off to the refs. Needs to stop that.

Ole basically said this post game, you could tell it was about Bruno.

In last games the whole team got low on scoring tbh, but no excuses for Bruno, he can do so much better than this.

It's okay to criticize Bruno. His passing leaves a lot to be desired. But he usually masks it with goal and assist. Today he almost got a goal and probably should have got the goal

That's my only complain about him. I said the same in match day thread. In games like these were holding on to the ball is also very important, he needs to pick and choose his moments.
Against lesser team where we dominate possession it's fine and he has been very effective as well.

I think rest/drop him forward the Fulhamame game.
Agreed, whether it's VDB or Pogba playing there I think he needs a rest and he's clearly not at his best at moment and whilst some might not be fatigue you'd have to imagine a rest might be good.

I would say as well though that whilst you can't deny he's been a revelation since joining us, there's some maturing he can do to his game that would take him to another level. I don't think that would be too much of an issue in general but with Rashford, Martial and Greenwood all not playing particularly well then it's a bit of a problem for us.

What did he say when he was coming off? Sounded like he was saying we were gonna play with one player less despite McTominay having recovered from his knock.

I'm mostly a lurker on this site, but man is it frustrating to see people jump to negative extremes after a bad game. Bruno's apparently 'buying into his own hype' and not a 'big game player' when he has dragged us over the line repeatedly this past year. People just want to moan.

He had a poor game, as did a lot of people on the pitch today. Criticise the performance, sure. But acting as if he's always been overhyped or overrated when he has propelled the club to where it is right now, is just unnecessary bitterness.

he’s the EPL player of the month in December. So we’re talking about January where he played 4 games. He wasn’t himself against City, Burnley and today (again, given his standards). But the guy needs some rest

These games are often difficult for attacking players. Rooney and Ronaldo rarely had great games at Anfield. What I would say though is that I hope we can remember the next time he has a great game....that actually he isn’t like that every game and he isn’t the only reason we are where we are in the league. He’s an excellent player, like some of the other excellent players we have. Shocking today though woah!

I’m very sceptical that he deserved that award? He certainly wasn’t memorable for me in December

Poor game, we need to decide if he's a midfielder or a forward because he doesn't help the midfield play at all. I'd rather he fully commits to either being further forward or further back; currently he's like Alexis Sanchez playing midfield.

As an aside, why is there always someone having a meltdown whenever he's criticized? No need for the kid gloves.

EPL player of the month doesn't tell anything tbh. We have all been watching him and to say he hasn't been at his best, even since early December, isn't a controversial statement.

Brunos passes didnt quite come off today but he makes up for an off day by his sheer effort, tracking back and working whilst always a threat with his creativity. Unlucky not to score, great save by the keeper. Silly to even consider dropping him

100%. At his best he’s a “smart” risk taker but also neat with the ball and providing great link up in between the lines. At his worst, like today, he basically plays as a second striker who just sits and gambles the whole game on hit and hope passes and shots. It’s fecking diabolical and he needs a slap upside the head from someone at the club

Tbh I don't understand why people saying he had a bad game.

In the first half he had a superb free kick that was like an inch away from a goal, a superb through pass which set Rashford free to face Allison but Rashford screw up. In the second half he had a very good finish but Allison was fantastic, excellent reflex and really good with his feet.

Imagine if the free kick went in, or Rashford took that chance and scored, or Allison didn't pull out that excellent save. We'd have people telling how great Bruno was here instead I think.

He drops deep plenty of times, no need ro decide anything. He is attacking mid who contributes to both attack and build up play.

He misplaced probably 80% of his long passes. He was shit. If the FK had went in, it would have been a bad game with a brilliant moment. Kind of what you expect from world class players.

Fair play to Bruno, when he's bad, he's really fecking bad.

He gives the ball away a lot anyway, but he usually does something out of the blue so you kind of forgive him, but last few games or so he hasn't been on it. I'm also not a fan of excusing players for continuously giving the ball away because "they're always trying something". I suppose it's true to a certain extent, but you don't always have to go with the Hollywood ball. Keeping it simple is the way to go sometimes.
