Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Pogba has always been decent defensively when the ball is in front of him, which is something that a lot of people overlook. It's been when they opposition get behind him that he has often been lazy. He's improved that aspect lately so let's see if us actually challenging for the top has bought out the drive to keep it up.

Thought after a sloppy first 15 mins, he was very good. Particularly considering he was doing the job of two men in midfield. Started playing it more simple and helped us progress up the pitch. Work rate both in the middle and when he was moved to the right was fantastic. Just hope he can stay fit. We have no one like him in those deeper positions.

Turns out that when he works hard defensively he is a fantastic orthodox midfield player, for me far more influential than when played in a more pure attacking role.
Still think he's more influential as an orthodox 8 than deep two. Imagine if he was playing in VDB's place and we had Matic on.

I thought he played well today. Still got caught a few times in his own half but overall a composed performance.

He's been so crucial to us since the start of December. Shown leadership and maturity to rise up and take responsibility in games. With him in this sort of form anything is possible.

Had a good game today, and he gives us an extra dimension. I’m more happy when he playes a little bit higher on the pitch. Sometimes he does stupid faults in dangerous area (ex, first half), and he was surprisingly slow when he received the YC in second half, hopefully because of tired legs!

It’s really good to have him back though. He likely have one more gear left:)

One thing is certain, Paul’s playing for a place in the first XI at the moment. He’s putting in some WC performances right now and some very important late goals too.

Things can change quickly but right now he’s not looking like a player on his way out anyway.

This performance from Pogba was something I haven't seen from him before. 90 minutes of pure energy. Wow. Very impressed.

Man this is the pogba over the past month or two that I've been expecting when we signed him, brilliant display today.

Bit of a shaky start but I felt he grew into the game and really started to control it for us.

Good defensively and on the ball, too.

Going forward, be interesting to see what Ole does, regards what midfielder we purchase, especially if we keep Pogba beyond this season. I say that because this typically wouldn't be a game where Ole starts Pogba as the deepest midfielder but he did it today and whilst we weren't perfect, we were better on the ball and got into much better attacking positions in comparison to last week when we played Liverpool in the league.

Unless something very strange happens over the next week, I expect Pogba to win our January player of the month competition. He's been in great form and, today, he was tested in a double pivot against one of the best teams at breaking in England. Admittedly, in the second half we did lose control of midfield a bit. However, I think that was down to a combination of things e.g. Van de Beek not pressing from the front. For me, Pogba's good form continued today and against lesser opposition he'd have been even better.

A lot of credit is owed to his manager, who has done a brilliant job with him.

I think he’s also just improving with age, and is entering his prime. Nothing too controversial about it. He’s 27, going on 28 now, and is playing consistently well, which isn’t uncommon at all.

Fair enough, I agree. Pogba is the complete midfielder when bothered, long may it continue!

It’s great to hear he had another good performance. On evidence, Solskjær has gotten through to him, because these performances lately are the most mature performances I’ve seen of him at United.

I thought he had a very good game, a silly dispossession early seemed to sort him out, and he was very disciplined and worked extremely hard for the rest of the game. Silly challenge at the end, but apart from that, a really good game.

Good performance. I just don't feel anything, no excitement about his game since I know he's leaving.
Hes our player until he's not. Who knows what happens in the future, he's been consistent in wanting to compete for trophies so it makes sense that he wanted to leave. Enjoy him and treat him like all our other players and if he helps us to big trophies this season, I won't begrudge him leaving as he would have been a huge benefit anyway.

VIVE LA POGBA FC!

Another Imperious performance from one of the clubs best [arguably the best] player.

Wherever this team goes this season Pogba will take it; showing he can do the things McFred are lauded for but also retain possession once he does so.

Cherishing these displays as we never know what the future holds but as I’ve been saying since joint, if he leaves the notion we’re getting anyone near as good to replace him is fanciful.

Yeah IMO it makes sense for both him and us, but somehow I don't see him staying. Not that I think we will miss him much, I don't even think it'll be that difficult to replace him. Somehow I just can't get excited about his performances even if he might stay eventually.

Another great performance. Do you think his recent motivated displays are to put himself in the shop window for a big move?

Thought he was superb defensively today, absolutely immense.
bit of a gripe though, and not just this match. I hate how long it takes him to move possession on, he gets caught in possession a lot. Give and go Paul, give and go!

Not for me. I think he just wants to be a winner. He’s a great player but isn’t great for a struggling team. But when we play well he’s great too. Maybe he has belief in the team that we’re top tier and wants to win with us.

Easily MOTM today. Loved seeing him get involved in the dirty stuff. Felt like he made a lot of good interceptions tackles and stuff as well as taking control of situations. Really showed a lot of his quality today. If he’s going to start chipping in more with the graft then props to him. Did look like he was struggiling physically at the end mind.

If we do end up keeping him going forward, a proper DM next to him would be the way to go. A Fernandinho or Fabinho type that can clean up everything that comes into the midfield would be a good partner for him since Ole has shown that he can make it work with Pogba in the deeper midfield partnership.

Another great performance and showed a more solid side to his game today, which was massive for us. A mature performance is a good way to describe it. Excellent.

Massive work rate today and I haven't seen the stats but he seemed to be winning the ball a lot?

Agreed! I’m not convinced he’s going to be honest, I honestly think Pogba is super competitive and he smells a chance at winning trophies with United.
