Sure you tell yourself that

Well you know, coaching against Liverpool will say follow Robertson and Trent Alexander Arnold whenever they go forward as they're a huge weapon for liverpool.

you know, tactics.
It’s actually been highlighted that it’s a tactic ole uses, he allows teams up the pitch before the press to create space behind them. We are useless against a deep block
Whilst this isn’t needed against Liverpool it explains why you haven’t seen him tracking back in other games

Thanks for the memories Jesse, done more for this club then my fellow keyboard warriors could dream of. . .

Will never understand the hate players that have actually at some point done something for the club get because they didn’t pan out to be the player we’d all hoped for.
I don’t think anyone hated him, just really didn’t like how often he appeared in the starting 11.
And at a time when we as a club were going through are most difficult spell.
Said since the beginning it was going to end this way. soon as he started out with a clothing brand I eye rolled, never understood why players who are starting out don’t give everything on the training ground, that should be their only focus.

no personal vendettas, just really pleased he won’t hinder our titles chance

After 20 yrs at United, at 27 yo, the only club where he can go is to Sheffield United on loan.

Something went wrong

A Jlingz Black Panther backpack can be yours for £100.

I’m not sure what RedCafe’s policy is toward linking to commercial products, so I won’t paste the link here. But the point is that Lingard has shifted his focus to his brand, JLingz. That’s great for him, but counterproductive to the best interests of the club and its supporters. His performances over the last three seasons tell the story.

Its a good job we extended his contract for a year to protect his value. Otherwise he might not be able to afford to prop up his failing clothing venture for much longer

Yeah some people on here are absolute dicks sharing their opinion on a public forum that exists for people to share their opinion.

No one on here hates Jesse Lingard as I doubt anyone on here actually knows Lingard personally. Criticism and frustration directed towards Jesse the player is not hate directed towards Jesse the person.

Yes he’s been very poor but I really dislike the sheer hatred shown towards underperforming players, especially young players and academy players. We’ve been crap over the last few years and it’s frustrating but it’s not the players who make the recruitment or contract decisions or play themselves when they are in horrible form. They can only try and play through it. Form comes and goes for a myriad of reasons and I hope his career picks back up somewhere else. He was most likely only ever going to be good enough to be a squad player here and his wages have gone far beyond what he can offer us in return.

Signing upto Riola as his agent when it was all kicking off with Pogba was not a wise move from his perspective.

Why are people suddenly sympathetic with Lingard? Some fans are still embarrassing themselves by going against legends like Rooney or Keane, but we have to be nicer and more appreciative of Jesse fecking Lingard? Give me a break. :boring:

He has written a transfer request. Frankly bizarre he's leaving on loan. Thought we would be able to find a buyer.

But maybe we will find a buyer after a loan? Not for big money, but for some fee at least - otherwise he just eats up salary while not being able to get on the bench

So true. That's why most players became irrelevant once they left a club. Most of the fans only disliked the player playing for them (if he isn't up to expectations) but not the actual person. Don't think most of Utd fans were following Cleverley around to abuse him. It stopped the moment he left the club.

Won't miss him. 6 years later and the number of truly top quality performances he has delivered for us is still in single digits in my view.

Will never fully know if he wasn't good enough to begin with or instead lost focus right at the most crucial point in his career.

A total mistery why we extended his contract, we're going to send him on loan and my guess is that we'll have to pay part of his wages. Hardly going to get a fee for the loan nor we'll be able to sell him.

Strange strange decision.

So strange indeed. Can't wait until he's gone, along with Jones. Probably the only two players left that embody our mediocrity over the past seven years.

Jones I can understand, obviously it wasnt thinking about him performing in the team but more of having his back while we know he's always injured and we can't tell him to feck off. Stupid, but I can understand.

With Lingard I just dont get one good reason to do it.

If you are referring to zero as a single digit. He was decent to good on a few occasions and popped in some goals for us. But that's about it.

which we’ve more than reimbursed him for. And we gave him how many chances to get his form back? lots of academy players who became squad players here used to head off once they plateaued and knew they’d never be first choice or when they were getting older as we’d only offer 1/2 year deals to players over 30. Everyone is hanging on here for dear life these days because we’ve been quite foolish with our contracts extensions recently. You Cant really blame the players for signing a contract here when the only way is down for 99% of them

Yeah I gave that generous estimate in order not to get too many defenders of his jumping down my throat.

Edging closer and closer to West Ham.

Hopefully he will do alright and we can get a fee for him eventually.

Honestly think he's a better option off the bench than VDB tbh.

I wish this were true.

Jesse gets a lot of flak. Not to be a hypocrite I've given out to Jesse more than once on the CAF.

BUT.

At the end of the day he came through the academy and he has had some fantastic games for us. Scored in two cup final wins. Always worked his backside off for the cause.

Its a shame he's never been able to maintain his very best level. When Jesse's in a purple patch he really can do something.

Never hated Lingard as a person, but hated him as a player. Wishing him all the best. He wasn't a good fit in a team like United. But I think he will do okay in championship team. Not sure any PL team is a good gamble for him though. But anyway, thanks for everything, and all the best!

Jesse will do well with a club of lesser ambitions.
He may do well in a club with lower calibre players. His level is known, at Man Utd it is below the level of other players. In other club, it may be on par (or above) - there he will be an important player then

What about rumours that Lingard is dealing with serious family issues regarding his mother and he has been looking after his younger siblings while she is in London getting treatment? If true wouldn't that affect his performance the last year or so? Going on loan to West Ham gets the whole family in London and maybe if he plays regularly he will regain his form. I am not saying he will be good enough to start for United, but at his best he could be a good squad player or at least allow us to get a decent fee if we sell him next year.

The sheer disrespect and borderline hatred to Lingard on this forum is mind boggling.

Don't know about that, i think a more appropriate comparison is who would be a better option off the bench between Jesse Lingard and a Springer Spaniel?

Agree, if it was up to me I wouldnt have done it. But I can understand if that was the reason renew his contract due to empathy. With Lingard I just can think of a reason at all.

No hatred (we don’t know him personally). But his performance (shit or worse performances) over the last I don’t know how many years are not good enough for a club like Man Utd. We can’t tolerate mediocrity here, if we want to be a top club

Bollocks. Some of the comments on here at certain points were ridiculous and obsessive at times regardless of form. Was certainly borderline hatred.

For some reason, some United fans always need a player to hate regardless of what they do on the pitch, and Jesse was the latest in a long line. Think it'll be lindeloff next.
