Rio sits down and interviews Paul Pogba in a BT Sport segment where they discuss the teams form, his contract situation etc. Felt this deserves a thread of its own.

What does he say about the contract situation? I'm in work, can't watch vid :(
Rio dropped the bomb at the end asking the question, Pogba said something along the lines of he will speak to the club and see what’s going on, but we will see. He also said he’s happy at the club. Or words to that effect. Could easily be a bunch of rubbish.

I've always said that about his touches. I feel the reason for his lack of consistency comes from that. He picked it up from Italy working with Pirlo, but in England, particularly in central roles, holding onto the ball is suicidal.

His recent media barrage is as planned as his agent's comments. I'm guessing both him and his agent looked around and figured they'd be taking a big pay cut to go anywhere in this financial climate.

I think if he wants to leave and is to better his current contract then he will need to leave on a free the summer after next. Doesnt look like any club could afford the transfer fee and contract at the moment.

These media interviews are set up by the club and the broadcasters. The club is selecting him to do them. Nothing to do with Pogba or his agent deliberately setting them up.

Nice interview. He is really complementary about Cavani and seems very genuine about it. Seems like a very shrewd piece of business by the club which might make the difference at the end.

Really nice that Pogba is using his credentials as a league and world cup winner to ram home the importance of winning trophies in the team. We need such people to help instill the winning mentality again in Man United.

Absolutely, when he’s leading on the pitch but considering the move his agent pulled on the eve of our biggest game of the season, despite his improved form and less hostile sound bytes from his camp, It’s still a bit rich no? I don’t think a week has gone by in the last 2 months without a Pogba interview where he’s pointing out where we still need to improve. I really just don’t care what he says anymore as long as he does it on the pitch and isn’t upsetting the dressing room with the continual and tired transfer/agent bullshit.

Might be reading into it wrongly but I sense a sly dig at Jose there with winning trophies while playing shit.
I was thinking that

He probably was just talking generally though. Everyone wants to win in the best way possible.

It's more that he will Yes/No the interview and also he'll preview the questions - Rio is hardly going to put him on the spot. Even the last one was just a diplomatic standard response re his contract.

I like as much club content as possible, he's an intelligent guy and an interesting interviewee as well as being a stellar player/global superstar but I'd rather see some interviews with Cavani, Bruno, Shaw, AWB (who I swear we know nothing about), Fred etc right now. Pastor Fred, Luke Shaw, Slabhead (although admittedly he is really boring), they've been in the trenches since forever and absolute stalwarts for us. Pogba's been good for what 7 games (?) and he's doing an interview a week!

Something has changed behind the scenes no doubt. This isn’t the Paul Pogba we’ve seen for the last year or so. Whatever is going on he’s trying to present differently which makes me think he’s going to stay. Not many other clubs can afford him.

I think it may be that the club is trying to enhance the player's value? Show the public Pogba is not a bad person, potential suitors etc..

He has been in the negative headlines for a while now, this way maybe people may think you know what he isn't what the media portray him to be.

Any talk of hairstyles? Would love to see Pogba's take on the Rio Leo Sayer do.

Hate the stick that this guy gets, it is just sickening.
One of my favourite players - love his football, love his energy.

I even love the diversity his cultral expression and what it brings to the team.

How anybody in the fanbase doesn't recognise he is a top 5 midfielder in world football is beyond me, WTH would you want that to leave?

For me anybody that is "PogOut" is either a Jose Fan or doesn't agree with Pogba's cultral expression.

Because a players form comes and goes, but you cannot hate one man with the vitriol Pogba has received at (Wolves Everton etc) just for "football reasons" (Form).

Really hope he stays, but completely understand if he goes.

Yes definitely, as a fan it' nice to actually see him happy to be honest. I know Raiola is loose but I don't think I'll ever forgive him for the timing of the last 'outburst' and then us crashing out of the CL.

The players know that leaving clubs or angling to get better contracts is part of their careers. That doesn't take away from the message that you need to win trophies to have achieved something in football that Pogba is giving to the team. And its authentic coming from him having won so many trophies in his career.

Goes without saying that if he wants to leave, he leaves. Not particularly bothered as I am confident the club will replace him. But for now he is playing a positive role atleast till the end of the season. Which is great to see.

Defintiely needed it own thread! Thanks!

Been saying to everyone he will sign. He won't get paid more than here, only PSG in a dead league. He talks about the competitive league of the EPL, he wants it!!

Woody 4+1 year, sign him up!!

He'll leave United on a free, some of you are so gullible.

A player whom we paid £90m for will leave the club on a free for the 2nd time, he's such a fraud.

Pogba is a star, better footballer, more commerciable than all the players you've mentioned there and most of them are my personal favourites, none of them drive clicks like Pogba.

PR at Man Utd have to repair the damage thats been done to this mans media image, he has been scapegoated by pundits and 'in my opinion" those very pundits have misled and misinformed a large portion of the fanbase who aren't very perceptive.

This has all hurt branding for both United and Pogba and led to a very fractured relationship. United have a brain they will repair this for a number of reasons regardless if he stays or goes.

While he stays inform expect to see lots of him infront of the Camera hopefully in many different hair colours and maybe even some African dance moves if we're lucky.

He's Man Utd star player point blank period.

He is not a child. He lets Riola represent him. He is responsible for the stuff his agent says.

People lining up to defend the indefensible is hilarious.

He can turn it on when he wants to.. which also means he doesnt try most of the time... or best case, if we are being very generous, is way too inconsistent.
I'm glad he is playing well.. Hope the club gets the most out of him while we can and then move him on... or let him move on on a free.. dont care.

It’s always a bad thing. Unless it’s Bruno or McTominay or something, then it’s ‘saying all the right things’ and being an example of great character.

Pogba is finally doing his job well again. As I said I’m very happy he’s playing well but it’s a bit rich. He’s all about it with a few months left at the club and possibly leaving the club for a huge loss again or a mega deal in the pipeline making him one of the highest paid players in the league despite very patchy form. So after telling everyone who’d listen how much he wanted to leave for the last 3 years but his form not being good enough for any other big club to pay up I’m not sure what he thinks he is to the club and the fans anymore. I doubt he gives a shit to be honest. I’d argue he was the biggest disruption at the club at times over the years and the club still stuck by him. His form has been 50/50 over the 4 years here and I think I’m probably being kind there. We’ve been in the doldrums and as one of the highest earners at the club I’d be much more interested in what he has to say if he was actually a success here or at least kept his head down during the harder times.
