100% ole's fault. Resting players is not the right thing to do. We are in title race. Hopefully he wont be so naive next time

It's not only the lost to one of the worst Premier league team ever, it's the way we play. So slow and predictable. Keep doing the same boring shit for 90 mins.

Where was the plan B? Change of tactics?

Can't believe this second goal. My God what were we doing.

Absolutely shambolic goal to concede. Hell, their players weren't even trying in this goal and we let them keep shooting in the same fecking spot.

We're so dumb it's unbelievable. Negative footballing IQ.
We have an awful collective game reading IQ. Deers

Awful. not sure why some are jumping on de Gea; I'm not a huge fan of his, but the match was lost because we were utterly diabolical everywhere. what on earth was going on with that second goal?

I wonder if we would have been better playing VdB and Mata over Bruno and Rashford. there's little point in having pace with Sheff Utd sitting so deep, and a bit of finesse would have been good. Hindsight and all that, maybe.

Martial, though. My word.
The match was lost because he literally didn't kick the ball out of play and instead lazily half-assed passes it to their winger who directly assisted the goalscorer.
Nevermind the 1st goal he conceded, which he seems to concede every time teams gang up on him on corners.

The guy has been living on past glory for a few seasons.

1. United defense is crap without Fred.
2. No team can win a league with Martial as striker... Too inconsistent.
3. Cavani should ALWAYS start.
4. Center back pairing is not randomly changed in teams challenging for the league.
5. Matic is out of legs...

✌ goodnight

Fuming right now. To think I actually thought we were in a title race before this match.
A massive massive reality check. Can’t think of one clear cut chance we had the whole game.

Worst performance I've seen from us under Solskjaer and that's saying something. Coming off the back of a great run too. Disgraceful all round.

I don't think a single player gets above a 3 today.

Wake up call

I seriously think based on the first half the players thought they would win by giving the minimum effort required

Probably not the case but how it seemed watching it. That first half was one of the worst I've seen this season

We only showed urgency at 2-1 down with 15 minutes left. If we had started like that we would have won

When are we ever going to see a game when either Rashford or Martial run off-the-ball or apply pressure to the opposition defence? There's no excuse. Bruno and Cavani do it constantly! Rashford and Martial are single-handedly killing our press because they point-blank refuse to press. Ever. If there's a loose ball to be won, neither contest for it; they just let it drift by them! Perfectly feasible 50/50 2nd balls......almost every time! And this is not just on them, btw. Ole is letting them get away with it. He's watching those games and not correcting them on it, otherwise you'd see evidence of more effort.

If you are playing bad, then you're playing bad but there's never an excuse to not put in the effort defending from the front.

This result has been coming for some time, we have not played well in our last few league outings and the fact that our highly paid manager can't make the big calls when needed leaves us impotent as feck today.

One of the worst results if not the worst result of the season. Before I have a moan at us, fair play to Sheffield, worked very hard, very well organised.

Having said that, we should be winning this game everyday of the week, doesn't matter whether we are going for the title or top 4 or whatever, you have to beat these teams. That was a shambolic display, firstly some players were just totally out of it, Tuanzebe was out fought by the physical and aggressive forwards of Sheffield, Martial was a waste out there and should have been hooked at half time.

Secondly, the team selection was too gung-ho for me, I know we like our attack minded teams but sometimes when we do this it is the the detriment to the team. The lack of stability means we are far too exposed when the ball is turned over, Sheffield should not be breaking the many times against us. Also we lose the shape and chemistry in attack, which means that we lose the ball more often and this goes back to the first point. We should never be putting 3 strikers on the pitch and opening up like we did tonight.

Huge reality check for the team. Must take the defeat on the chin and be extra prepared for the Arsenal game.

The only positive is that if there was any doubt our weaknesses have been thrown into spotlight again

De gea
Wan Bissaka (who I like)
Martial

All need real upgrades and we need a rw to balance this team.

This is what i and others have been saying. We rely on individual brilliance to score. We cannot break down teams that sit back because we dont know how to.

We do well against the big teams then because they attack us and leave gaps like Liverpool last sunday.
None of that is right. We’ve beaten loads of teams who defend deep and got beat by several good teams this year.

Really not sure it is just the team.
I'm not one to highly rate our manager but what we saw out there today from certain players was just diabolical. I think some of these players just can't motivate themselves enough for every single game, so we get some amazing performances and some like today. I guess we're just a good Cup team as things stand and maybe doing enough to get top 4 given the relatively poor competition this year.

Martial is not United standard up top. Sick of his shit demeanor

Rashford, you're not a playmaker. feck off to the left hand side.

Bruno, sort your wank passing out. Great numbers but when he's in this form it's like playing with 10 men.

Telles was shit (corner aside)

Defending atrocious.

Bunch of fecking bottlers
Totally agree. Why United still keep Martial? He was not near Berbatov.

Don't taze me, bro
It was such an awful performance that I'm posting here for the first time in almost 7 years.

I have defended Martial as a United player for many years now. Tonight was the last straw. He's looked horrendous all season and it's time to call a spade a spade - he isn't cutting it in the first 11 and isn't an impact sub. He isn't making runs. His hold-up play is mediocre at best. And he is not even taking on his man anymore, which used to be his greatest strength.

He needs to be dropped for a long stretch to see if that wakes him up, and if not then he needs to go.

Back to life, back to reality. Top 4 battle it is. Given our hideous record there lately I’d take a draw at the Emirates on Sunday.

Anyone have a gif of Rashford just giving up chasing back on 55 minutes for McGoldricks shot. Just summed up is mentality tonight.

Didn't push on enough after we scored. Martial should have come off instead of Greenwood, other subs were too late. Ramsdale's last game he conceded a soft goal against Plymouth in the FA Cup, didn't work him no where near enough and he'll probably concede 3 to 4 next game.

Where the grass is greener.
That was the sort of result our performances have deserved. Our home form is woeful, truly woeful. We were passive, and uninventive. Defended so poorly.

We deserved exactly what we got. We weren't hard done by, we created nothing, and got nothing.

That second goal was unbelievable.
Decisions went against us but still should have had more than enough to beat a team that had only taken 5 points all season. Without doubt one of our most humiliating Premier League defeats ever

Absolutely raging. Their 2nd goal was indescribably bad.
Yep.

Twice Burke was unmarked in our penalty box in acres of space. TWICE.

Martial somehow focuses all his attention on the wing with one of our players already covering the Sheffield attacker down that wing.
Why is he not looking around to make sure other Sheffield players near him are not left unmarked?

Shocking defensive awareness. I hate seeing Martial play on the wing because he can't backtrack and defend at times looks like he's uninterested to do so.
I also don't trust him to lead the line as a CF.

And I can't even expect Ole to give these players an absolute bollocking because some of them need it after a performance like that.

That De Gea kick followed by the flapping of the arms.

Just fecking clear it in that position. Get rid. It's such a basic thing to do.

I swear every 2-3 games we concede a goal that is properly comedy  so poor.

Look at this meltdown. Climbed to top of the league after a horrific start, then lose one game and all the old complaints coming out of the woodwork. Individual brilliance this, De Gea not good enough that. Even accusations that the team isn't mentally strong enough, after all the comebacks and last minute winners this season. Pathetic.

Dig up stupid!
Was surprised to see the starting line up, was expecting to see a lot more changes than that. Energy was the key today, any team we picked should've had enough quality but you have to match teams like this for effort and we didn't.

Looked leggy which is understandable given the relentless fixture list we've come through. Rashford and martial anonymous, pogba and Bruno sluggish and ineffective. The lackadaisical defending for the winner was shocking

I know commentators have to big up the underdog when these results happen but let's not pretend they deserved to win. Neither side did enough but they had all the luck today whilst nothing dropped for us all game

Disappointing but not the end of the world

What a shockingly pathetic performance, I’d only give Maguire over 5 out of ten, the rest between 1-3, just such an abject display when we knew only a win would be enough.

Rashford and Martial need to have a word with themselves, Martial needs benching, Rashford needs to up his game significantly. Games like today Bruno needs to stop giving the ball away every 2nd touch and Tuanzebe, wow, one great game against PSG and the rest Sunday league level at best.
