Tomáš Souček.

I was trying to find a thread about him but there isnt, yet this guy looks unbelievable.

It seems like literally everytime I watch a west ham match he scores. He isnt bad defensively either, even if he doesnt set up the direct assist, he is usually making the tackles and pass previous to the assist maker.

The guy is surely a player out of team of the season so far? Is it just a random season of form or a player in his prime (25years+) finding the PL not as complex as others.

A midfielder with 8 goals from 22 matches this season and 3 goals from 13 matches during his loan spell.

Very good signing, him and Coufal.

8 goals for him already, looks like he is their Fellaini.

Fellaini/Tim Cahill types usually do well for Moyes. His timing is excellent is hard to not include him in FPL hehe.

This thread has been brewing for weeks now. Looks a good Moyes type player and he's having a good season.

Huge threat in the air, gets forward a lot and wins the ball well in midfield. Not the greatest passer everything else hes pretty good at. And yes I think he could start for one of the top premier league teams without question

Suspect Moyes wouldve been hesitant to drop Noble but it’s clear Soucek and Rice don’t need him in there.

Remember him from the game Slavia played at home against Barca. He was superb in that game and wasn’t surprised to see a bigger club take him on.

Really like the guy think he’s the better player out of him and Bissouma, his finish last night was superb.

Schneiderlin’s highest goalscoring tally in a season was 5. Weird comparison.
I’m assuming he means a midfielder making the step up to an overperforming mid table side and shining, but not necessarily being a player at as good a standard as they at first appear.

Schneiderlin looked a world beater at Southampton but struggled here and afterwards.

Think Coufal is average personally, and has done well to het grouped in with Soucek in some sort of ‘Coufal and Soucek have been great additions’ catchphrase. Clear difference between the impact of both I think, and I reckon the success of Soucek helps him out a bit.

I was impressed with him whenever I watched him, ofcourse not as good as Soucek but they are both very good additions.

It's arguably the best decision Moyes has made since going back.

I watched Noble live early last season and clear his reputation was just getting him into the team as he could hardly run and his passing was wayward. Him starting every week was holding West Ham back and the balance is so much better now with Rice-Soucek double pivot.

Soucek really is cross between Fellani/Cahill with his aerial power and late runs into the box so ideal Moyes player in midfield.

Not just about the goals.
His abnormally high goalscoring rate for a player of his type is what makes him stand out though. In that way he’s far more comparable to Fellaini (who was also found out when moving to a higher level).

He was scoring at this rate for Slavia the last two seasons as well. Impressive that he's managed bring that goalratio with him to the PL. West Ham elevated from fighting relegation to a top 6 contender with him. The whole picture is of course a lot more nuanced, but the stats with and without him is very flattering for him.

Either way, he's a typical Moyes player.

His ball playing is very limited from what I've seen, Schneiderlin looked very good on the ball at Southampton, better than Soucek does at the minute and he turned out rubbish at Utd. He's scored a few goal by getting on the end of things running from deep. But if you were to consider him as a signing, his all round play leaves a lot to be desired.

And well Fellaini, was just Fellaini, he had his moments, but he should never have been signed.

I think he's great. A physical monster but much better footballer than Fellaini. Would take him in a heartbeat. Also fun in interviews.

Make sense of the comparison then
Although he gets forward more, his all round game is similar from what I've seen and he's worse on the ball than Schneiderlin was at Southampton.

No idea what position he is. At one point people said he was a deep-lying player who just scored headers. Then he became a box-to-box, then a #10.

Fair play to him.

He's a DM who can also play CM. He runs like crazy so he covers a lot even from those positions.

Two totally different types of players. You seriously can’t compare.

Bissouma v Rice is a better one

Aren't Bayern interested in this guy?

I dont get the fellaini comparison tbh, soucek is actually a competent box to box midfielder where as fellaini was basically a battering ram second striker that was shoved out of possession when playing deep in united's midfield.

You definitely can compare them they’re both midfielders only Soucek gets about a lot more and into the box to score goals.

Matic Replacement?
Not a replacement from I can see. Don’t know how he plays as a holding player. But as a box to box, I like us sign him. He can definitely partner Fred, but not sure if he can partner McT.

Currently he and Rice are playing a dual pivot just as McFred do. Both are box2box. Dynamic setup. Adding Lingard is similar to Bruno for us. They now have front four with single target man Antonio in front. For us, our front four are more like diamond with the base, Bruno, floating everywhere.

Fellaini looked a competent box to box midfielder at Everton too, you know.
