Just realised today how lucky we have been with regards to injuries.

In most years, we have a major injury crisis so I'm hoping this year we can stay free all the time way through. Liverpool have had problems with players being out especially in defence, Spurs are struggling with injuries, CIty have had Aguero out all season basically. Apart from Jones, no-one has really been out for us. It's imperative this season to keep players fit with the run of games we have. We started to get loads of injuries once Ole took the job as the players weren't used to the change in intensity from Mourinho and we visibly hit the wall towards the end of the season. Now it seems the players are more conditioned and picking up less injuries, we might just be lucky and hopefully this post doesn't jinx it.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Shut up shut up shut up shut up

Seriously though, Ole has done an extremely good job rotating the players to help avoid injury. Maguire, AWB, Bruno and Rashford are the only players who play almost all the matches, while everyone else rotates quite well.

It's been a positive for sure this season and we're seeing the rewards. Touch wood* I see that we have included a yoga instructor for our players etc which is great.

Hopefully we can really kick on another gear now, with our forwards back in groove.

We should have capitalised more in the big matches where we drew. Need to have the mentality to dominate rest of season, which would be a step up

Yes Giggs did yoga for years. Surprised this hasn't been implemented since then. He always spoke how it helped him with his back.

indeed...

Clearly there is some luck involved with impact injuries.

we don’t seem to have so many muscle injuries, which is part down to getting rid of some players, and the management team knowing the players, and managing their games. Shaw is a perfect example.

Alright lads let me counter the jinx - Bruno Fernandes will barely play due to injuries. He’s going to go Full Phill Jones... and one never goes... Full Phil Jones

Injuries aren't just 'bad luck' in the modern game. It's down to your team of scouts and analysts to find players who have good injury records and then it comes down to sports science and your medical department to keep them fit.

This is why I don't think it's valid to say 'Liverpool have been lucky with injuries' in previous season, because Michael Edwards and his team are so thorough that they wouldn't sign players who looked injury prone. Likewise, yes they were unlucky with Van Dijk, but I would say selling Lovren and relying on Matip as a backup was a high-risk strategy because he is very injury-prone.

Part of the reason we haven't had as many injuries this year is we are less reliant on sicknote players. We have still had injuries to the usual suspects (Bailly, Rojo, Jones), it's just you don't notice because we have learnt not to rely on those players.

The caveat to this post is obviously yes, ' Past performance is no guarantee of future results ', so you can always be unlucky and sign a player who has a good injury record and performs excellently in his medical but then breaks down in his first training session. Also, you can't really account for impact injuries like the one Van Dijk suffered against Everton

Not 'lucky'. Ole and his staff have worked really hard at minimising what was - let's be honest - over a decade-long ridiculous injury list.

Solskjaer spoke about this when he came in...

I think the mindless Moyes bootcamp stuff has gone out like the dinosaurs. Thank God.

Feck sake.
First thing I thought seeing this thread is what a massive jinx this is.

I can guarantee you many, many many of our players will be on the sidelines with injuries this season, worse than any other team, it's inevitable, it will happen.

It’s a bit of both, anyone can land badly after jumping for a header, or get rolled over in a tackle and do their ACL. No amount of training will fix that. But Ole definitely deserves credit for reducing the amount of muscle injuries. There’s still plenty of the season left though, and a lot of players have played a lot of minutes, so hopefully the accumulation of games doesn’t take its toll.

I'm actually convinced that Bruno and Shaw crashed into each other head first immediately after OP posted this.
